  1. The riots turned violent last night but everything remains calm here in Saudi Arabia. Amazing what a babillioin barrels of oil can influence. My friend is in Bahrain right now photographing the entire thing. He wanted me to join him but I figured the best present for my dad today on his birthday was to NOT get arrested or shot. I'll letcha know if anything else comes up! Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts!
  2. Came here to visit my parents, it's my dad's 50th b-day tomorrow.
  3. Apparently I choose the absolute worst time to visit the Middle East. Just dropping a line letting you guys know I'm in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Had dinner in Bahrain last night, it was pretty peaceful in the streets though tonight/tomorrow is the kickoff for their revolution riots/day of wrath/protests. Anyone else in the area? I'm pretty safe I think, we have an F16 or two that fly over pretty regularly, three checkpoints before you get to our house and lots of government protection at each of them (this is all regular stuff). I'll letcha know if anything comes up and maybe let me know what you're hearing over there because here, who knows what you can trust!. When I'm not dealing with a revolution, I'm enjoying beautiful Arabian beaches, hanging out with camels in the desert and racing other SUVs across the dunes. Catch ya later friends!
  4. Please stop spamming the message board with your all caps rants. We come here for technical support and friendship not vicious baseless attacks. As far as Klipsch not repairing headphones that are out of warranty, why would they? Would you expect Goodyear to replace your 60,000 mile tires at 75,000 miles? No, because they are out of warranty. If you have an issue with headphones under warranty, purchased your headphones from an authorized dealer and are in America, I can personally attest to the stellar customer service Klipsch will provide you and any of their other customers. Their customer service is legendary enough that people, like me, have purchased products made by Klipsch two dozen years ago without worry that they will fail and with full knowledge that when the inevitable end of life occurs, Klipsch engineers and its loyal following will be here, on this forum, to help us repair or replace our broken or worn out equipment. Thanks for stopping by and for letting your feelings be read but let's keep it civil and please don't hijack or spam other threads.
  5. It's been a long time but this was an issue with the ProMedia 5.1 THX when they came out initially. Turns out that pressure on the control knob during shipment was the cause. The solution was a new control pod, unfortunately, or setting the volume and then changing with your computer. Klipsch replaced these control pods for anyone who reported the issue back and a permanent solution was quickly discovered and thus never even affected the 5.1 Ultras. I guess what I'm saying is your control pod is having the same issue as a previous model that was due to an issue with pressure being placed on the control pod. Since these aren't made anymore, your best option is to either repair it yourself (no idea exactly how to do this) or to buy a control pod off eBay. Maybe someone else will have another option but that's what I remember :-/
  6. If you insert them upside down so that the cables wrap around the back of your ears, it pretty much eliminates any of this cable noise. Your ears absorb all the cable vibrations so your ear canal doesn't. There was a really detailed post by a Klipsch employee on this a long while back. If I had it handy I'd link to it for you. That is what worked for me and still does today.
  7. I know what you mean! After i got mine and reviewed them, I easily had a dozen or more people message me on Twitter saying they just bought a pair themselves.
  8. I paid for PhoneView, it is an amazing piece of software, highly recommend (if you are on a Mac). Otherwise, have you tried Doug's Scripts? i have used that one in the past with great success.
  9. This has been responded to in your original thread.
  10. Works as a headphone wherever a simple headphone jack exists. Works as a microphone with an iPod Touch/iPad/iPhone newer Apple computers. You might find it works on other devices as a microphone but it isn't designed as such.
  11. 1. If you bought them from and authorized dealer and something comes up, Klipsch will honor their warranty. 2. Burn in is as real, or it isn't, just depends. Confusing? Different speakers, headphones etc do exhibit an improved sound after use, others sound the same at day one as they do at day 31. You can burn them in by playing white noise or frequency sweeps for several hours or, do what I do and just burn them in by listening to music! My S4i's (same drivers as the S4) didn't seem to burn in or require a burn in while my Klipsch Image One's did, significantly so I feel.
  12. I talked to a guy from CBS, apparently it's an issue with a lot of their stations. CBS needs to put in an FCC request to increase the power of their antennae. Not sure why CBS seems to have this issue more than others though, probably related to budget?
  13. I too bought this and got every channel just fine from the north side of Columbia Missouri, most of the networks were down in Jefferson City around 30-40 miles away. The only network that didn't come through was CBS but then, no one could get CBS in the area due to issues with their system. If I could have opted for an outdoor or attic antennae I certainly would have but this fit the bill just fine for me.
  14. I just moved to San Francisco. Apparently just in time... Oh well! I live up on the hill in a new condo so I'll be alright... right? :-X
  15. Congratulations, look forward to the pictures and step-by-step instructions! Now if only you could re-engineer a passthrough to since to a computer through iTunes... :-D
  16. Compared to open headphones like Grados or some higher-end Sennheisers, they provide incredibly punchy and strong bass without delving into the unfortunately boomy and messy bass you get from some headphones like the BASS Sony headphones or the Beats By Dre. The bass seemed to grow into my set of Klipsch Image One headphones. Originally I was a little bit disappointed with the bass response but after having them for a few months (well, after about a week really), the bass was perfect. Perhaps they needed to burn in a bit. Could be. Either way, very pleased with these headphones.
  17. They do exist. Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi. Around $300. The headphones are noise isolating. They are in-ear monitors (IEM). The ear clips are built into the cables and wrap around your ears for a secure fit. The cord is sturdy, thick and thus relatively tangle-free (no such thing as an "untangleable" cord). There is a pause button plus microphone on the cord. They are great headphones at a decent enough price (When I was buying Ultimate Ears headphones, the SueprFi 5 were around $300 and these were around $500!). If you have smaller ear canals they probable won't fit in, as with most of Ultimate Ears earlier "universal fit" models. I enjoyed my UltimateEars for a very long time, they used to be incredibly comfortable for me. That was until I got some beta Klipsch headphones several years ago. As soon as the official models were released, I put away the UltimateEars. They sound great but the comfort simply cannot compare to the Klipsch. But as far as your requests for a headphone, these first the bill exactly and they have been around for quite some time. Read some reviews and if you think it's for you, buy them. For me, I have no issues with the Klipsch headphones staying in. With either the silicon gel tips (especially the double flange ones) or the Comply foam tips (after market) so ear clips aren't important to me, especially at the sacrifice of size and comfort. Hope this helps.
  18. Solid state drives are incredibly fast but their limited read/write and cost make them not the best option right now for heavy use computers. A better option are the SS+HDD hybrid drives which provide a good bit of the speed of a solid state drive with the longevity of a standard spinning HDD. Also, you can get a 500gb labtop hybrid drive for around $100 now! Insane right?
  19. It is totally possible, there are several online projects for it. Right now it is limited (ish) to Linux based operating systems. Chrome OS is probably the one getting the most attention these days as OS on a Stick.
  20. Older iPod compatible devices used the firewire power circuit while newer iDevices use the more standard USB power circuit. Early Apple iPods REQUIRED a Firewire port on the computer to sync so this made sense. As USB overthrew Firewire, a change was made. You might have success using the Passport from Scosche. While I haven't used one myself, I have heard great things about them. Check it out here.
  21. There is a huge difference between a headphone providing noise cancelation and an external device providing noise cancelation before it gets to the headphone. It will always be better with a secondary device simply because you have the headphones doing less work while sending out the actual signal from the source as opposed to extra waves to block out external noise. I can see why in certain situations, where things are incredibly loud, supplemental noise cancelation would be helpful with noise isolating headphones. However, I'd wager that custom in-ear monitors would be at least nearly as effective with better sound quality, comfort and more portable (no extra power source). That might be something to look into. Klipsch headphones aren't really made for something like that but UltimateEars and others are.
  22. This is a known issue with any earbud. Made national news iPod Earbud Revelation Is Shocking. Anti-static wipes can come in the form of Bounce sheets or electrical equipment wipes you see for monitors and such at Best Buy or Radio Shack. Rapid repeating shocks would be more abnormal and most likely an issue with your source. Try them with another portable device and then with a grounded device (like a home theater receiver or headphone amplifier) to see if these sources, unique in how they receive and output power and the stationary vs mobile nature of their use. If you have the same shocking experience with all sources, have tried anti-static wipes (you probably have Bounce or other brand dryer sheets in your laundry room), then there could be an issue with the headphones. However, this is pretty unlikely, but not impossible!
  23. I reviewed the Comply foam ear-tips over here ---> Comply Foam Headphone Tips
  24. Has no affect on the amp (as far as damaging it). They are made to accept multiple input sources, including a computer. I use an iFi as the speakers of choice on my computer system. Sounds fantastic!
  25. Besides the remote/mic, identical. Buying the S4i makes them a little more future-proof if you ever plan to buy a compatible device. Just FWIW.
