  1. I'm looking to get a seperate amp to drive my RF 7's and Center but I'm looking at trying to stay in the 500 to 1,000 range and pick up something used that will be a major improvement over using my old Onkyo to drive those and my Newer Onkyo tx 805 to drive the rest of the speakers. I've owned some Carver equipment back in the day and I've been looking at everything from older carver stuff to newer Sunfire gear. I'm of the school that I don't mind a few cosmetic issues on the used gear if it allows me to end up with a system that I couldn't affort to put together new and it still sounds great and can be serviced. Just looking for some suggestions based on what you people have experienced. Also if anyone has owned a Sunfire Sub I'm curious on any opinions on that. Thanks!
  2. Don't waste your money on expensive cables (I've been there), they're not worth the money and in most cases there's no difference at all except the price. If you do a quick search you will find many articles and tests that really drives this point home including speaker wire. If you check your local big lots, depending on the day, you can find quality cables cheap.
  3. I thought I was wacked about some of this stuff. LMAO, The article was interesting, but I'm not going to go out and buy expensive cones or wood, I'm just going to keep adding speakers and more equipment in search of the holy grail. This audio stuff is truely a sickness. Pete
  4. I just picked up a pair of rp 3's dirt cheap and was considering using them on either side of the tv for center channel's or running them as rear mains. Has anyone done anything similar to this? My question is about how to wire these in and not damage my amp or the speakers. My amp is rated to handle down to a 3 ohm load and I've run it at 4 with no problem but the sub's in the rp's are rated at 4 and in my mind even if I run them in series, the subs have their own power supply and It shouldn't do anything, but I only know enough to get myself in trouble, so I wanted to ask the question. The second question is the best way to wire these speakers in and after reading the manual a few times, I'm still not sure what the best way would be to hook them up. I'm also running a velodyne 1250x and a pair of rf 7's for the front. Just looking for some advice. Pete
  5. That's exactly what I did and the new driver is installed and working great.
  6. I have a blown K-1089 woofer in one of my RF 7's that needs to be profesionally repaired or replaced and have already had one repair shop tell me they wouldn't touch it. The cone is torn and would need to be completely rebuilt and I need to know if there's any options for me.
  7. I just joined this site so I'm just telling you what I heard a couple of weeks ago while visiting an audio store. I heard a def tech (definitive technology) supercube 1 against an RT 10 and the def tech in my opinion blew away the rt. They list for around 1200, but I'm searching and have seen a couple under a thousand. I think you have to listen to them and decide, we all like different things.
