  1. July 2013 update... I have sold the albums so all that's left is the turntable and the accessories. One of the people who looked at it managed to break a small piece of the back corner. I've glued it back in place. It's not too ugly and it is on the back side of the dust cover. The new price is $175.00 for the TT and accessories. I will consider shipping but I'll need to charge the cost of the packing materials. Figure on $20 in bubble wrap plus the actual shipping cost.
  2. As a matter of principal I DO NOT purchase any meat products from the local Wal-Mart. Here's why: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/27/winter-haven-wal-mart-rat-infestation_n_1710103.html
  3. Resize/Resample can be accessed quickly by pressing the Ctrl + R keys.
  4. I've been using IrfanView for years. Easy to use but very powerful. Get it here: http://www.irfanview.com/
  5. The NAD amp would be a nice piece for sure. I'd need to buy a tuner though as I listen to FM a lot. I'll probably just snag a refurb TX-8050 from A4L. I was happy with the last one. THANX! Jeff Hoak
  6. I wish I had the coin to spare Bill. It looks like my Marantz deal is going south leaving me without tunes. Good luck with your sale.
  7. I have a line on a really nice vintage Marantz receiver to drive my Heresys but I need to sell this guy before I can get it. It's an Onkyo TX-8050. I purchased it new from Vanns approximately 18 months ago. It is in excellent condition and is operationally perfect. It will ship in the original packaging and includes all of the accessories and paperwork. Detailed information can be found here: http://us.onkyo.com/Products/model.php?m=TX-8050&class=Receiver&source=prodClass Asking price is $125 plus actual shipping. No charge for PayPal as it is my preferred method of payment. Thanks for looking!
  8. Since putting a Samsung BD player with network streaming in my bedroom this guy hasn't seen much use. It's a Dell Optiplex 330. Installed is 2GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, DVD drive, Asus Xonar 7.1 channel sound card with optical output, and a HP branded Nvidia Quadra NVS 280 video card. The installed OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. Also included is a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard with integrated track-pad, and the power cord. Asking price is $100 plus actual shipping. No charge for PayPal as it is my preferred method of payment. Thanks for looking

    What I Got Today!

Traded for a 99 Toyota Sienna today In 98 I went to work as the IT manager for a small local company. The job lasted 5 years before they down sized and I got laid off. Ever since then I've been a contractor for them doing between $2K and $4K of work for them every year. About the time I started there they bought a new Toyota Sienna CE to serve as a company vehicle. Trips to the airport or runs to the bank or whatever. This past Sunday I was at their office doing the monthly maintenance on their workstations and servers. I've had that contract for a couple of years now. It's good money. Just shy of $2k a year for less than 2 hours once a month. While there I noticed that the Sienna hadn't been driven for a while. I left a note for the Office Manager indicating that I was interested in the Sienna and would be willing to trade future work for it. On Tuesday I received an email from the OM telling me that they would accept $2K in future work in exchange for the Sienna. That seemed fair but I wanted to check it out before I committed to it. Wednesday I drove out there to check out how many miles are on it but the battery was completely flat. I removed the battery and brought it home to see if I could bring it back with my charger. No such luck. Turns out that it had 11/11 production date and a 3 year replacement warranty so Wally-World replaced it at no cost. Finally.... I could see how many miles this guy had on the clock. I was shocked when I powered it up and the odometer read 30592. Less than 31K miles on a 14 year old mini-van. Unbelievable. Mark that one as SOLD! It has a few minor problems but nothing I can't manage. It's in need of a good detailing but there's not a dent, ding or scratch anywhere on the body. There's very little wear anywhere in the interior. A couple of cans of upholstery cleaner and everything inside will look like new. Fortunately it had been parked under cover for all of it's life. After a couple of days of scrub and rub it should be worth quite a bit more than I have invested. All in all a pretty nice little grocery getter. 3.0L V6, auto, cruise, cold 2 zone A/C, 2 row - 6 passenger seating. I'll be picking it up Friday afternoon and once it's had a much needed bath I'll post a few pictures. Hopefully some young local "soccer mom" will be real proud to be tooling around in this guy and I'll be banking some much needed $$ very soon.
  11. This is the gasket material that I use on all of my speaker projects. My jast pair of La Scalas included. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=260-542

  13. The last GF that lived here had a pretty nice collection of Griswold cast iron. Of course she never used any of it. It just hung on the wall and was stacked on shelves. When she moved out I was left with one CI skillet, a 12" I think but the bottom wasn't flat enough to use on the glass top stove. I ended up giving it to my Son. The only thing I cook with these days is a set of Stainless Steel Cuisinart pans an a Calphalon pasta pot. It should be noted that pans with non-stick coatings don't begin to off-gas until they reach temperatures greater than 500°. The coating doesn't begin to break down until 660° is reached. Something that should never happen unless you've done something really stupid like sitting an empty pan on an active burner and forgetting about it. If the pan has any oil or butter in it they would have smoked at 400°or less. Considering the billions of non-stick pans that have been sold and used around the world if they were truly dangerous they'd have long since been outlawed. Either that or Du Pont would have been sued in to bankrupcy years ago.
  14. If you can reset the DNS on the device to fixed rather than DHCP I suggest OpenDNS. It will filter content at the DNS level. http://www.opendns.com/home-solutions
  15. Bill, Amongst my other unmarketable skills (like veneering) I'm pretty fair with a wrench. If it's something I can handle for you I'd be more than happy to. You buy the parts and I'll twist the wrench. Not long ago I did the water pump & timing belt on my 94 Acura Integra. Rather than the $1K+ price the dealer had on the job I bought $80 in parts and was back on the road in a day. A couple of months ago I did new shocks and CV joints on my Dad's 2001 Civic. His total parts bill was under $500 and the dealer wanted over $3K for the job. As mechanics go I ain't what you'd call fast but I generally get the job done. I'm always happy to trade work for something I can sell or even as debt repayment. It's been a few years since I've torn in to a "people's car" but I doubt that they've changed a whole lot since I last owned a VW Jetta. Speaking of "unmarketable skills" you'd never guess what I'm doing right now. Baking bread. Yep... With the cost of loaf of bread being what it is I can make it WAY cheaper and WAY better at home. I'm trying to reduce the amount of HFCS in my diet and home made bread is just one more step towards that goal.
  16. I read recently that a large number of Russians have dash-cams because of the way they all drive. The idea being that the dash-cam is only way to prove their innocence when they're involved in an accident. They're all pretty much crazy behind the wheel. There was a YouTube dash-cam video of typical Russian traffic but it's been removed.
  17. Many years ago when I still lived in Ohio a family member had his basement listening room flooded. He was able to salvage almost all of the electronics using methods very close to what was shown in the link. Unfortunately his Dahlquist DQ-10s and Magnepan (model unknown) ended up in the dumpster. Most electronics can indeed be recovered from a flooding event. As a rule speakers and decorative wooden trim not so much.
  18. While nowhere near the scale of recent meteor event in Russia I got to experience much the same a few years ago. I happened to be outside just after sundown looking towards a local lake when a bright streak crossed the sky. My first thought was "cool". a second or two later there was a VERY bright flash followed by a deafening boom. It was seen (and heard) by a lot of local folks. It was reported the next day that a meteor roughly the size of a basketball had come down and exploded about 10 miles south of me. If what I saw was maybe a couple of hundred pounds I can't imagine what a 10 ton meteor exploding would be like.
  19. I don't remember when or why I got this. I'm generally not a hat wearer except when I'm out carving large chunks out of fairways. Even then a black hat is a really bad idea under the Florida sun. Here's the deal. If you'd like the hat PM me your name and email address (no I'm not harvesting). I'll enter it in to a spreadsheet and on Wednesday 2/20/13 I'll have Excel generate a random number from the pool of entries. If your number comes up a few days later you'll be styling in a never been worn Newegg / Sony hat at absolutely no cost to you delivered by USPS First Class Mail. Please note that this is being posted at the three forums that I frequent the most. Entering from each of the forms will only get you one entry. CONUS entries only please. I can't afford international shipping. Yes... It has a little schmutz on it in the picture. It's been in a box for a while. I'll dust it off prior to shipping. Thanks for playing!
  20. Nice camera. I've always liked Nikons. I've had several both P&S and DSLR. I wish I had some extra $$ right now. My Mom's ancient Kodak (POS) is just about unusable. I'd give her my Panasonic and keep this one for my use. Oh well... Good luck with your sale!
