  1. It only has a sub preout - rules out a seperate amp. It also does not have audio capability over HDMI. A con if you're into that sorta thing. If you want crazy volumes, get a seperate processor and amp. Boom!
  2. Sorry to tell you what you already know. I took your statement "I am not very technical at all." to the Nth degree! [:$] Hope it's a simple fix.
  3. I forgot to say welcome to the Forum. Stick around and learn all sorts of cool stuff.
  4. You can connect a AA battery to each driver seperately. It will make a working tweeter scratch with each small movement of the wire on the battery. With a working woofer, it will make it jump out or in (depending on polarity). If a driver does nothing with a AA connected, that's your baddie needing replacement. If all drivers pass the AA test, it must be your crossover. The AA won't damage anything....way too little power. Hope this helps.
  5. Hi willland. This is what I'd check first (out of the very short list in my head!). Remove the 8 screws from the back panel. Take the back panel off and let it rest against the cabinet side. It's tethered to the crossover but there should be enough wire to move it away. Check the wires from your tweeter to the crossover for any wires not connected. The crossover may have a wire that has fallen away from its screw. The crossover is labelled clearly and it's easy to follow the connections. Hope this helps. Once this stubborn tweeter is put back in line, let us know how your first Heresys sound to you.
  6. I liked the first two seasons of 24. Then it got old, especially the interrogations. A Vietnam veteran came and talked in one of my classes in college (1995). There was time for questions at the end of his presentation. When asked if TV and movies are accurate in depicting what it was really like, he said people would be throwing up and running out of the theaters to therapy if movies got it right. He was in the infantry and had definate anger/conflict issues after coming home. He said he had no direction for years - couldn't fit into society for a while. He would go in bars just to start trouble. Most of the time, no one would fight back because of the look in his eyes.
  7. I'd like to contribute to the snow pics. This was mid December, 18". A tree branch broke off in our front lawn. Check out my 2 1/2 year old son helping with the roof. I remember my brother and I making a tunnel system in the plowed snow banks at my elementary school. Fun fun! I love how the whole world becomes muted. The snow collects the higher frequencies and everything goes quiet.
  8. Welcome to the Forum! I don't think the KG 1.2s have a wall mount bracket. You can make something work, though. A friend of mine installed homemade wall mount brackets on a pair of KG1s. With sealed enclosure designs, keep the holes you've drilled airtight. You may have more responses or speaker offers in the Garage Sale section. This "Updates.." section is for updating and modifying speakers and other components. Like replacing tweeters, crossovers, building your own cabinets, etc. Here's a pair of KG 1.2s in Walnut on Ebay.....not black but still pretty. Good luck in your search.
  9. Very nice setup - sweet Belles. Your son is starting out the right way, and those Belles are definately heirloom candidates. I hope to do the same with my son - he's 2 1/2.
  10. I see the pics are up. Did GIMP help? Nice TT!!!!
  11. I think his 'gentleman' remark was to me for trying to provide programs to resize pictures.
  12. Yes this is a great thread! It's happened more than once where I weird out an acquaintance of me and my wife's by remembering what stereo gear they have, after being at their house only once, four years ago. "Oh yeah you have that older Marantz with some Polk speakers." [:#] This thread quenches some need within.
  13. This has worked for me, although it takes a few clicks for each resized picture. It's freeware called GIMP, and it can supposedly do all the things Photoshop can. It just has a different interface which takes a bit to get used to. Link. Says it works with Vista. OK, I'm done.
  14. I think it is still available but have not contacted the seller yet. I just bought (7) Marantz monoblocks and am a little short on $$$ for now. Maybe I will sell (2) of them and use some of the money to get the SW-12. Bill Cool. Did you get the M-500 or M-700? If so, good stuff. PM sent.
  15. For resizing pictures in Windows XP, go here ---> Link Scroll down while looking for this on the right hand side of the screen: ImageResizer.exe. It's a very small download. After installing, right-click a picture and choose to resize from the pull down menu. You can also resize a bunch of pictures when many are highlighted. If you use a Mac or something newer than XP, you're on your own.
  16. Whatever happened to paying what the price tag says no matter what? Works in the physical world all the time: if something is marked down when it shouldn't be, the buyer still gets the deal. Easy for me to say, but I think it's Amazon's fault for not being thorough. They should honor the price that was presented on their (price tag) website.
  17. I know T-Ram has a pair of Sapele Heresy with those woofers. Are you there, T?
  18. FYI, I know Klipsch doesn't sell grilles for the RF3 anymore.
  19. Thanks for the safety tip, JMON. Also didn't know tubes could be that dangerous. Very scary and I will take all precautions.
  20. One way to get tube amplification. I just bought an H.H. Scott 299-C for $275 on Craigslist. Link with pics. Find a used Scott, Fisher, etc. for a similar price, send it to NOS Valves to be rebuilt. You'll have a great vintage tube amp for around $700.
  21. Man.......that's 437 lbs of gear. I'm a little scared.
  22. Well said oldmako. I've learned a lot here and try to give back, when the subject matter isn't flying miles above me. []
  23. Mullini, there is some sarcasm here but also some suggestions. I quickly read through what your AVC and LCD TV has. The AVC looks all self contained. Only inputs, and no outputs. But I think an AVR receiver could still work alongside the AVC for tv watching. It looks like your tv has an optical out, so it would be possible to hook that up to an AVR receiver. That would then power your B3s. You could also not use your AVC and use an AVR receiver to do all your source switching (CD, DVD, etc.). I think you'd have more home theater options in using a seperate receiver than using the AVC. Although I just skimmed the summary of it and might have missed something. Look into Harman Kardon (here's mine, older but good: Link), Onkyo, or Marantz. Good luck.
