  1. All I need is one K-1029-KN 8" woofer for a lame CF-2, willing to consider a KV-4 in any condition with one working 8" woofer. I don't need the cabinet, as this will become a donor parts kit for my ailing Epic CF-2's. Anybody with other ideas? CA$H or PayPal or USPMO is fine. I have discounted FedEx shipping account, will cover packing & shipping costs.
  2. Howdy guys - I have a blown Epic CF-2 woofer, original 8" K-1029-KN. Hope to find a single, or the replacement K-1062-KV/EV. KV-4 woofers (which are similar or identical?) would probably work too. Any advice is welcome! Thank you from Steve in Minneapolis
  3. Lucky gambler stole these at $475 - regardless of driver load or enclosure version - unique creations! Worth $1K empty, $2K w/416/806, $2.5K w/515/802. 16Ω stepped Xover says they were 1960's.
  4. The back panels look more like A7-500W Magnificents, and dimensions are larger than 825 cabs. My guess? Magnificents were damaged, then dressed up for resale. Jazzy red & black grillcloth is from MOJOTONE, I just got some for a 1974 ALTEC alnico VOTT restoration in cherrywood cabs.

Searchtempest.com works well too, with no programming. Found me a dbx-4BX for $155 1000 miles away in 3 minutes!
  6. Advice on selling MC-30's please? I have two - one was used as a donor, missing transformers. I can take photos tomorrow. How to proceed? I'm helping a friend liquidate his dad's collection, and these are the last 2 amplifiers. Speakers are gone. Back in the '70's I had a triamped McIntosh system with MC-60 driving Klipsch-designed 1949 EV 18" corner horn, MC-240 then MC-2100 driving ALTEC 601 then 617 12" duplex, and MC-225 driving ESR-15 electrostatics above 6KHz. THOSE were the days!
  7. Today I delivered my blown E145 to Bill Batson at MetroSound in St. Paul, 30+ years reconing mostly JBL. Highly recommended.
  8. Thanks arrto - close but no cigar. Needs to be E145-8 to match in a 4628B stereo pair.
  9. Or proper recone service with the factory JBL kit. Or suggestions? JBL Cabaret 4628B - one too many loud parties!
  10. I've had good luck with NAVIS Pack & Ship - one call, they do it all! Cheapest is picking up at their terminal, home delivery is Big Bucks!
  11. ALTEC A7's comprise 40 years of engineering advancements as technology improved. This pair is mid-70's with the 16" 421-8LF 100W & 808-8A 30W Symbiotic on 511B horns, built for live music re-enforcement. All dressed up as ALTEC 1236 the following year. Kicks your butt while it shakes your pants cuffs - and cracks your teeth if you smile. Wish I had the resources - I was the ALTEC-PRO midwest factory rep 1974-1975.
  12. Stains like these can be removed with a paste of oxalic acid applied with a Q-tip. Cover the stain, let it dry, wipe with a damp sponge and reapply as necessary. Best cheap source is Bar Keepers Friend at hardware stores.
  13. What's with the horrible audio quality on the YouTube videos? They sound deliberately downgraded with bizzare artifacts like pitch-shifting, phasing anomalies, filtered bandwidth, and time compression. And yes, I have calibrated ears. That's why I own Klipsch!
  14. MAC 4100 is a great receiver - way better than 1700/1900's. Regret selling, getting scarce.
  15. All the 604's are HOT 100dB+/W/@4' - but narrow - you need to sit in your dent in the couch!
  16. 18" BAG END InfraSub 18 is amazing - sounds like your floor just disappeared.
  17. Excellent tuning & voicing! Same drivers as Heresy II, horns at ear level, tuned below 40Hz. Blew away JBL 4430 "Studio Monitors" in a direct A/B with all 3 audiophiles agreeing. Klipsch should bring these back as a budget black 3-way at $995/pr - they kick A$$!
  18. From an Old Ham, licensed since 1960 - SWR meters read Standing Wave Ratios on RF transmission lines LCR meters read L [inductance], C [capacitance], R [resistance] Maybe post a photo? Cheers, Steve
  19. Shipping cost to MN 55424? I'm sure enjoying my MR594II/908-8B's from ColterPhoto! What's the history on these? I assume a diaphragm swap will convert to 288 Tangerine. I was the ALTEC PRO midwest rep 1974-75 when the 1" 802-8G Tangerine was NEW!
  20. Just got a KT-7500 in on trade! I can sell as-is for $90 or cleaned & fully aligned for $150 + shipping.
  21. WOW! I'll take them! Just got 2 bass cabinets w/ no handles! PayPal or bill to my FedEx account? PM me w/ your email please. Thanks, Steve in Minneapolis
  22. Just west of me in Edina MN: not mine. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/ele/d/kenwood-ka-amp-kt-tuner-cd/6205874192.html Good luck, Steve
  23. What is the diaphragm material? Looks like aluminized phenolic - I've never seen one like this! Maybe I should pull my Forte' II tweeter horns and have a look inside! How would you describe the sonic comparison w/Crites' titaniums?
  24. Howdy Ara - I'm drooling. Wish they were here in Minneapolis - I'd buy them! Amazing polars on those ALTEC MR594II horns - how do they compare to the larger Jubilee horn? I got 3 pair from Michael Colter w/21216 adaptors to 1" 908-8B's - they are flippin' crazy good. Good luck with your sale - some lucky buyer is about to be blown away! Cheers, Steve
  25. Really, guys? Come ON! In the Passive X-Over realm, "BOOST" is impossible, do the math, understand the physics. Attenuation of unwanted mid-bass frequencies results in a FAKE "BOOST" of deep bass - at the expense of efficiency, damping factor, and cost. You WILL need a bigger amplifier - 6 dB EQ = 4X the Power! CUTE Red Coils though... ALTEC's 30904 and 30920 "Equalizer/Attenuator" networks in Grenada & Barcelona were the earliest introduction of EQ into passive crossovers for the home, after the 9849/9848/9846 Studio Monitors - back in the mid 1970's.
