I would suggest you do this. Can't beat that offer. Not to mention that fact that Ace is a standup guy. I bought a great computer from him several weeks back. Everything about it was exactly as he said.

  2. " I dont use snipers(dont want to pay for something I can do myself)"

Ah, but you can't do it yourself. See what placing a manual bid with 5 secs. left gets you. Oh wait, you are there, right now.

Seriously though, you will win more for less by sniping. Although other buyers sure do appreciate the confirmation that a non-sniping bidder gives them. Yes, that is worth more because there is already a bid for that, I must go higher, higher, higher! Where as the sniper is a thief in the night. One bid placed at the end confirming nothing but to the winner.

  3. First off let me say that I do not have a golden ear. Just the opposite I'm sure. So take that into consideration when reading my thoughts about sound quality.

With my active setup I have been listening to a compilation of amps. They are an old 5 watts per ch. 6BQ5 SET amp, a 10 watts per ch. PP 6BQ5 amp, old NAD or CREST SS amps. I tend to cross into the squawkers at 400 or 500hz. Above this is tube amp(s) with SS on the bass. I'm swapping a RANE 22B active along with some even less expensive Behringer actives that I picked up here on the forum. I can hear no noise from these crossovers. All my cables are short and I have really have no noise to speak of after a minute or two of tube warmup. I'm using all sorts of configurations with the following speaker elements: The Altec 816a bass horns, Eminence Pro Kappa 15a in ported bass cabs, JBL 2441 drivers on Community horns, Klipsch RF7 horns, T35s, Dukane 5A540 drivers on some pretty big composite horns. I have played with all this ever which way you can think of. I listen and tweak, listen and tweak. I have learned that I can tweak the system for a certain style music or certain artist and its like they are visiting me in person. I can close my eyes and they are standing there. I really have been having a ball with it all.

I can change my crossovers points, invert drivers, play with delay, use sub filters, etc. all with the touch of a finger or turning of a knob. All of the crossovers I have been using are 24db/oct. which has been fine but I would like to try some steeper ones. I've gone 2 way and 3 way with it all. It's been fun and I have really created some great sounding stuff (to me) with all this for not alot of money invested. Hope that answers any questions about it. I'm a mad scientist at heart and these audio explorations are right on target for me.

The idea, the inspiration, and the how to do it I gleamed from Klipsch forum member contributions. Thanks guys for the help.

  4. Tom, you indicated in your first post that you have 16 ohm crossovers. I'm thinking your indicating that the crossovers are setup for 16ohm tweeters. If thats the case then I would consider going a step further and getting the Crites tweeters or make up some tweeters with the eminence drivers/gothover adapters.

  5. So right now you have two different impedance rated tweeters in your speakers? I would shoot for what was originally in the khorns and therefore the tweeters that have the impedance your crossover was made for. I suspect a different impedance will change your crossover point.

  6. No price listed. Only one distributor for the whole USA. How did you find it? No 3.5mm out on it I noticed. Sometimes its nice to just hook up to some powered speakers for listening.

I found one at B&H Photo for 139 as a price point. Looks like it would do what your looking for.

  7. From my personal experience, I would much rather get a yellow jacket than the wasp. As your tests showed we have a higher reaction to different types of stings. I sit here wondering what your reaction to the yellow jacket sting would have been without the shot regiment?

I got stung by a bumble bee under the eye the day before school pictures. Don't you know I looked pretty with one eye swollen shut. I also sat on a hornet once while cutting firewood, now that one really hurt.

  8. Downunder, your Chinese is too expensive! $35 for two people? Hope you got alot. We can feed about 8 people here Chinese dinners with soup and eggroll for that kinda dough. Maybe you can do better ordering Kangaroo? I just watched the movie Australia and I noticed they shot one in it.

Now I once at a Mrs Smith's 3lb cherry pie in a contest and did score 2nd place. Unfortunately the backside price for 3lbs of cherry pie not cool.

  9. I have bought my last 3 AT&T compatable phones off Ebay. Latest one is an LG CU500 which I have been real happy with about 3yrs now. Just make sure the phone you get is for AT&T and that its a GSM tri-band phone. The third band gets you Europe I think. AFAIK all of the newer phones will do this. Simply swap the Sim card out of your current phone into the new phone and whala, your set to go.

The Iphone as I understand it is a little more complicated. I think the sim card for it has slightly different programming? So a simple swap and go might very well be a no-go on this phone.

There are a mountain of these mobile phones on Ebay that will work for you. Pick a competent seller with good feedback and I think you will be happy.

  10. I guess the ultimate no holds barred mid driver is the TAD 4001. I'm running a pair of JBL 2441s (newer 275) which I think are awesome. There are others including the driver Greg is using with his upgrades.I notice they recommend crossing at 600hz with a 12db/oct. slope. With your steeper 24db slope you should be able to go lower than that.

I grabbed these specs. for the TAD off the net: They are kinda pricey though.

  11. Well I'm not a EE. I'm also not a TT expert. If it were me I would be very tempted to try what you have on your home 230v 60hz. I don't really see where the extra 10hz is gonna hurt anything other than speed control being out of range. I guess its possible to puff the existing PS which you can't use anyway. Boy if you could borrow the correct PS and compare it to the one you have........

  12. I picked up a pair of these off Craigslist. They sounded terrible at first. But then I found about an inch of bug debris down in the throats. After a good cleaning they now sound real good. Looks like aluminum diaphrams. I suspect they are replacements and these came with phenolic when new. Anybody know the specs. on these drivers by chance? They look related to JBL or Coral but I don't know. They are mounted on horns about 28" wide.
