  1. The convenience that I enjoy most with this new tech is that I can order my dinner while laying on the couch watching TV, have it delivered, enjoy dinner and never miss a moment of my shows. In the morning I'll call someone to drop by and wipe my a$$. Keith
  2. I was wandering around in Mississippi years ago and drove by a Klipsch dealer. Had to stop. Looked around the back and there were 2 pairs of KT-LCR's in walnut that were still boxed up. Made an offer and carried them home. Listened to them with yet another tube amp and a 12" sub that blended well with them. IT'S THAT HORN MAN! I imagine few people ever heard the KT-LCR's but, THAT HORN! Big bang for the buck small speakers they are. Finally sold them during my household speaker liquidation and wish I hadn't. Good luck with your sell. Keith
  3. I live in a neighborhood of retired folks, primarily old widows. On one occasion on the porch I heard faint singing. As I listened I could barely hear the lyrics " Precious memories, how they linger"..... Keith
  4. Ya'll must have been the best of friends. Keith
  5. It's not inconvenient. I've got one card with a low limit for online purchases. Had issues with the account one time in almost 40 years. Otherwise it's cash. I did work with a guy around 10 years ago that couldn't buy a coke because he didn't have a dollar. But he had a card. Keith
  6. You old curmudgeon. Oh, by the way, did you ever meet Abraham Lincoln? Keith
  7. Ha, yeah. I was thinking the work NEW. Nice catch. Keith
  8. In the interest of actually helping I'll take the time to tell you what I know about mattress's, my experiences. Went to all the local mattress stores and laid around on various mattress's. Learned, well nothing except that how they could afford to build big stand-alone mattress stores and pay the help to hang around doing nothing. Searched/read the www. Learned practically nothing about my comfort laying on various mattresses. A year later I decided to take a flying leap and buy a mattress using my best guess online education. Ordered a Beautyrest Silver from US mattress. They don't haul mattress's around the country on trucks. Various manufacturing locations. They build them, deliver them and haul the old stuff away, if you want them to. They keep you updated from the time you order. Order received, in progress, build date, completion, ship date and delivery date. The delivery people actually call on time and deliver within a two hour window. The two delivery guys were respectful of my home and fine mahogany furniture and were courteous. They left without a trace they had been here. Good experience. At the time I had hip problems. Along with all that foam it took a while to get used to the new mattress. It has a soft entry but the innersprings give good support (comfort level 7). I sleep like a dirty dog now, 8 hours every night. I wake up refreshed. I love it. Of course everyone is different. Use the web site for info if nothing else. You'll learn something anyway. I see right now the mattress I bought is $889. When I bought it the price was $742 less a $25 discount. It's a pig-n-a-poke. Good luck with that. Keith
  9. Hit US Mattress site. You may not find what you want but you can read about mattress's until you fall asleep. Keith
  10. I've got a bunch of those yellow Dewalt tool bags in the garage with actual tools in them. When a tool-head comes around and notices them they criticize Dewalt tools unprovoked. What gives with that? Keith
  11. Beautiful speakers. Makes me want to get up off my wallet. Problem is, I'm not too sure you can buy that quality veneer on a pair of Klipsch speakers anymore. Keith
  12. I owned a couple of pair of those that I used with an SW12 II sub that I bought in the early '90's that was musical without the super bottom of todays subs. Using a tube amp every time I listened to the speakers I always thought 'who would need anything else' for listening to music. Sounds like a joke but the 2.5's pack a musical punch for their size. Good luck to you. Keith
  13. Damn! Nice. I love fine wood finishes (leather too). Like time, you can't buy that patina. Well, unless someone buys the speakers. Good Luck. Keith
  14. Happy Birthday LaScalas! (don't put a birthday candle on top of them) Keith
  15. No matter how high the humidity gets it never needs shoveling. Keith
  16. I worked in all kinds of weather. I remember working one night out in the middle of nowhere a guy I was working with walked up to me and asked what that was on my skull cap. I felt the top of my full face toboggan and it was solid ice. I told him it was the same thing that was on his skull cap. The moisture from our breath built up and froze thicker and thicker. I still walk out on the porch some mornings with a cup of coffee in my boxers. The wife will open the door and ask 'aren't you cold?' I tell her no, I just don't think about it. The cold is invigorating. But I've been invigorated enough. Keith

    What I Got Today!

I want to thank all of you that have expressed your prayers, sympathy and kind words regarding my condition. I by no means came here looking for sympathy, although I appreciate the support given. What I hope to convey in a small way is for each of you take better care of yourselves and possibly extend your own life by shedding bad habits. It doesn't take a life change just cutting back on habits that are bad for you. The worst part is leaving my wife alone. A few here can relate. I learned a valuable lesson from my Dad when I was 16 and have been fiercely independent my entire life, made my own way and never asked anyone for anything (well except for a few young ladies when I was younger). It's a pi$$er to work your entire life and have this crap take what you have worked for your entire life. Cancer Treatment Centers and Oncologist offices are full of people suffering this fate. Don't be one of them. Do whatever is necessary to ensure that you are there for your wife and kids when they need you most. Thanks again everyone. Keith

    What I Got Today!

Thanks dtel. My oncologist says I've had it all. There's nothing else he can do. After radiation, that's it. Six months on the outside. It's been a battle and I love a good challenge. But that last part is really depressing, and I'm an upbeat guy. And a realist. We'll see. The lucky people just drop dead. I've got a good friend that I've known for decades. He played music in bands for years. In 1995 he had a really devastating accident. Over the following years he got in a really bad place mentally and financially. He lost interest in playing and in music all together. As I talked to him over time I thought of how I could help him, interrupt his mental direction. I thought of his love for music so I bought him Klipsch speakers. The whole 9 yards. It brought him out of his depression. His wife said it changed his direction. All to say, you are right. He still makes a big deal out of it to this day. I told him the other day he almost embarrasses me with it. I told him that was just what friends do for friends. A few bucks don't mean nothing. As you said family, friends, the good times and the memories are all that matter. Keep Smiling. Keith

    Pork Rib rub

I have a problem too. My problem is leather. I love good hand tooled and other US leathers. Be it belts, wallets, handbags, saddlebags for your Harley or even, yes, cowboy boots. I love 'em. Talked to my brother again today and asked about Dad's old cowboy boots. I don't remember ever seeing them. They have got to be around 50 years old. I've seen a picture of them. They are light full-quill ostrich with ostrich trim at the top of the shaft. You never see boots made like that anymore. Brother said, hell, I'll mail them to you along with his cowboy belt. They're not worth anything. I told him the value in them for me was the leather, like Civil War artifacts to him. He understood then. Yes, I have a problem. Keith

    What I Got Today!

Thanks Jim. The local Honda dealer has one of these (below) on the showroom floor. When I saw it I had just walked up to it unaware and had to stop to look at it for a few seconds. Then I laughed. It is tiny. Those manufacturers have come a long way since the 70's. Keith

    Pork Rib rub

I know what you mean about the smoke. We eat lots of chicken. Seems like it anyway. I get tired of it. On the other hand the local grocery has a deli and one of their lunch regulars is a smoked half-chicken. The wife will come home from the store and announce 'I got you smoked chicken for lunch' and my stomach rolls over thinking 'chicken, blah' until the word smoked sinks in. It's good, it's all about the smoke. Keith

    What I Got Today!

Thanks pal. Been dealing with it (the big C) or 2 1/2 years. It's humbling. Keith

    What I Got Today!

Not into the bling Jim. I like cowboy boots in the winter but I like them conservative. Conservative and cheap are two different things. Dress shoes don't work for me with jeans and I'm not particularly fond of tennis shoes in the winter. So the Allen Edmonds and Sketchers are on hiatus for the winter. I ran across the Lucchese giant gator boots pictured above the other day and liked them (I'm a leather fanatic). The wife encouraged me to buy them so I did. The funny part is that I probably won't enjoy them for too long. I've got a cancer tumor on the brain and it's pressing against my brain stem affecting my equilibrium and my memory. Radiation for that but I also take steroids which gives me a giant erection in the mornings. When I get out of bed in the mornings my wife swats me away with a fly swatter because she's afraid of it. I tell you this because I feel like my Suburu comment the other day may be responsible for your above comments. If so, then I apologize. I just used Suburu because that was the first thing that came to mind. I still remember when they sold Subaru's at service stations and they looked like this. The cost of getting older. Take care. Pork Rib rub

I edited the cinnamon word for brown sugar, which is what I meant to type dtel. Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'll use parts of them for a hybrid rub next time if the wife will let me in the kitchen. Oh yeah I wanted to throw out the how the wife cooked the ribs, just for information. Everyone cooks differently. She wrapped the ribs in aluminum foil putting them in the oven bone side up. Cooked at 350 degrees for 2 hours until internal temp was 190 degrees. Remove, add BBQ sauce, return to 175 degree oven for 2 hours (my brother was here so she said she left them in the oven since my brother couldn't eat ribs). Anyway as I said before they were really tender and really good. I thought I might try a rub on a slab next time, hence the question. Keith
