  1. I just realized what you meant by filter. Basically I need to hook-up a passive crossover. This should be interesting. I'm sure there is tons of DIY speaker instructions online.
  2. Is this my best option for proper hook-up? What kind of filter am I looking at? This is my first encounter with full-range speaker options. Thanks
  3. I purchased a pair of custom built speakers with 4" full-range Fostex drivers(A). They were built with two sets of binding posts to add an external tweeter. They sound good as-is but when I hook up a sub the highs are a little light. I'm thinking of adding a set of Magnavox horn tweeters(. Here is an illustration of my set-up. Is this the correct way to hook them up? Thanks for your help.
  4. This particular Magnavox amp has the three speaker terminals: C 1 & 2. Before I started using the amp I've never come across this stereo set-up before. I know the "C" is common the others are L R channels. Here is the way I currently have the speaker cables hooked up. Anybody recommend something different? Thanks
  5. I'm not exactly sure what model this is. I do know that it has a pair of 5 watt tubes. I pulled this unit from a 1950-60's Magnavox console. It sounds amazing. Thanks
  6. Hello, I purchased my corn 2's about 7 months ago and am very satisfied. I've been running them with a 1950's 5 watt Magnavox stereo tube amp. I've heard of speakers being better off with more power than less. Is that the case in this situation? Thanks
  7. here is the latest addition to the cornwalls. 5 watts per channel never sounded so good.
  8. Yep, your right. It does have two 6BQ5's. Wow, 5 watts and It sounds like this? Amazing. This is my first "Maggie" and I'm just getting into tube technology. Very impressive. Thanks everybody.
  9. I am using a very nice Magnavox 15 watt stereo tube amp for my Cornwalls. The speaker terminals consist of three screws, "1", "2", and "C". Here is a illustration showing how I have them hooked up. It sounds great but I'd like to know If this is the way they were meant to be hooked up. Thanks
  10. As much as I like the Ramones, I usually don't listen to too much Punk on my main system. My car, computer, and local English Pub is where I usually listen to my favorite Punk bands. Gabba Gabba Hey!
  11. I finally had an opportunity to purchase some Cornwall II's on Ebay last week. Luckily they were located within driving distance and was able to pick them up. So far I've listened to Jazz and Buffalo Springfield and was wanting to give my personal opinion on these speakers. First of all I am driving them with a a McInintosh 75 watt MA6200 solid state integrated amp. The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to make them shine. The volume barely goes past the 4-5 mark. More importantly the best thing I discovered was the dynamics, especially with jazz. As you're listening to the subtle strikes on the cymbals and the bass quietly dancing in the background the drummers every increase of volume especially loud accents are really felt in the room. I've honestly thought maybe street sounds or someone outside was making these "thumps" I was hearing, It was that realistic to me. Closing your eyes to these speakers are a real treat. I am now a Klipschonian and happy to be here.
  12. I'm looking at some Cornwalls. I noticed most sellers advertise them as Consecutive Serial Numbers. How important is it for them to be Consecutive?
  13. I just picked up a KEF PSW 2150 from a local second hand store today. I'm wanting to hook it up to my computer stereo system which involves an older Pioneer SK-1000TW receiver. I'm unsure as to how to hook up correctly. The sub has line in left and line in right, High Pass Out L and R. Pioneer has Tape Monitor and Tape Rec. Here are some pics of the back of both units. Thanks
  14. yes, cornwalls are about 2.5 hrs away.
