  1. Mine were $35 each from the local glass shop. 1/4" but that wasn't smoked. Tried to smoke them but they wouldn't stay lit. I've been trying some edge lighting of the glass. 1st pic is edge lit w/ ccfl tube, 2nd is lit from the back edges w/ grain of wheat leds in an aluminum channel. They both look good with a green glow to them. The green is due to the iron content of the glass. They are the the Worst thing I have ever tried to get an image of so the pics don't do them justice. The real effect is more subtle. I have glass on almost all of the good wood furniture and all speakers in the house. RSW-15 required vinyl dots under glass since it tended to walk off of the speaker. Nothing is idiot proof but it does make things idiot resistant and mostly stops time for the wood.
  2. Damn, 3 wars. Might be a National Archives / Greatest Generation item.
  3. I sure hope Bruce Jenner's not hiding in my speakers.
  4. Saw her husband play a few years ago. He seems to be pretty good but he didn't bring her along.
  5. I love this stuff for bundling and hanging. All of my extension cords have a piece permanently attached with a small zip tie. Hooks on one side and loops on the other so it sticks to itself Fastening Tape 0.75-inch Hook & Loop Fastening Tape 5 yard/roll - Black - Monoprice.com Nice cross between tape and baling wire.
  6. I've had several different Harmony models and they all have accomplished their purpose fairly well. The current 1000 has allowed me to cut back to it and 2 other device remotes at hand. I find it to be a great primary but some devices are more easily used with the discrete buttons on their own remotes rather than stepping thru layers of menus.
  7. In the wayback daze I ran sound reinforcement for some bands and the rule then was that you never cut unless absolutely neccessary, This was analog days when the only thing digital was a prostate exam.
  8. Was essentially kool-aid in tablet form with probably citric acid and bicarb so it fizzed and mixed itself when dropped in a glass of water. Many flavors and the root beer was very good.
  9. I had one that I was going to list in Garage Sale but it seems to have been stolen.
  10. Polarity markings are used on electrolytic capacitors. If you hook them up reversed you will know it immediately when power is applied as they will explode.
  11. I woke up on the couch to find this staring at me. I've run out of room.
  12. wvu80: Blow something on the wall like this?
  13. I may have Gormvestments handle my portfolio. His market timing on buying Khorns seems like it was pretty astute. Insider trading Gorm?
  14. Cal, it's not over with, it's just a transition. I quit my old job the end of April and started drawing my pension. I had started my next job the previous December because I was so embarrassed to go to work every day due to the clowns I worked for. Income is lower but the 2 days/week that I've cut myself back to is great. I'm learning again and there's something new and different every day. There is something or a combination of things out there that will give you smiles, fulfillment and maybe some pocket money. I went from being an Apple Certified geek to occasionally working in hog confinements and I am now happier/healthier. Best wishes on your transition.
  15. Whole joke since it's new: Hey Jared, what's the best thing about sex with twenty nine year olds? Jared: Well, there's twenty of them.
  16. People in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones
  17. Woodeneye? Woodeneye? Harelip! Harelip!
  18. Gorm: If the veneer is that bad I know a guy not far from Iowa City who did a real nice job of veneering a pair of La Scalas. I bought the empty cabs from him. Seems like I bought a sub from him too.
  19. I think you will find that getting all possible arrangements made before the time comes is a real blessing. Going through all of it when your head is clear prepares you for the moment and frees up your heart to take the lead when the time comes and brings real peace. Best Wishes
  20. who gave you the dime? All of them.
  21. Dad went to the University medical school in Iowa City and Mom will too when the time comes. It is all prearranged. His cremains were returned to us about a year and a half after his body took the ride and now reside in the columbaruim at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. I wish I'd found Klipsch before I lost him. He would have loved it.
  22. They don't yell, they don't tell, they don't swell, and they're grateful as hell
