  1. Wayne, Best wishes for your 50th Birthday. Guy
  2. Todd, IMO, The skinney bottle Siemens sound too thin. The Teslas are very nice. Vintage 1980's with brown bases are great. With some luck you might be able to find a quad of Mullard xf2's or Amperex DD getter for around $200.
  3. Hey Bill, The ARC LS-1 (linestage version of the sp-9) is one of the worst preamps I've owned. I'd look elsewhere. The LS-3b is decent but has balanced outputs. Does the Mac have balanced/xlr inputs?
  4. Chris, JBL L-15 or 4401 (pro version of the L-15) will suit your needs perfectly.
  5. Hey guys, Thanks for your concern. We're doing fine for now and hoping that things will end real soon and we'll be going back to normal life asap. Luckily we're living in the Tel-Aviv area which is 50 miles south of Haifa (where we suffered many attacks) and just hoping that they don't have a longer range missiles... I miss you all. Guy
  6. I'd grab the complete system as the price is a bargain. Spica had made some nice speakers.
  7. These speakers are great. I own a pair myself. Their sound is more fullbodied than Khorns and the bass has great impact. The 077 tweeter is one of the best. Sensitivity is 93 db.
  8. Chris, Check out this audiogon listing: http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatran&1156792429 Although I haven't heard this model myself, I did like all the Threshold preamps that I've heard and prefer their sonic signature to most other solid state preamps I did hear.
  9. It's an equivalent to the 5U4 rectifier and it's one of the best. Thanks for offering it here. I'm sure someone could enjoy it.
  10. Nice score. I've had a pair of these up until recently. I used them with HF-1 ribbon tweeters on top of the Met 7's. I still keep the HF-1's for a rainey day....
  11. Kaiser, Check out this player http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1153123053 It's built and sound much better than the 991.
  12. Mine was: TT Preamp Power amp, arm, cartridge, JBL L-300 and ARS Acoustica La-Diva speakers, Equipment Racks (about the same). Altec 604's CD player and Altec 15's (about the same)
  13. Only if you haven't heard high mass unsuspended Micro Seikis....
  14. Wow, this is the first time I actually agree with Parrot (and I did hear the Walker turntable more than once....)
  15. "Koto song" from the album "We're all togehter again for the first time"
  16. Tom, Sorry to hear about your financial crisis. Hope that things will work out fine for you. Guy
  17. Fini, IMO, it's worth keeping the ortofon arm if you intend to use MC cartridges and like the Denon103 or Ortofon SPU.
  18. C-J has a great customer service and were very helpful when I needed assistance. Try calling them, I'm sure they'll be glad to help.
  19. Only the 948, the LAST of the great EMT broadcast tables was direct drive. The earlier (and FAR more coveted models) were RIM drive tables--some say the PINNACLE of rim-drive tables . . . Few coments, EMT manufactured 3 direct drive models: The top of the line 950, a simplified version 948 and a much simpler version 938. The 950 is an amazing beast the used to retail for around $11K. The 948 and 950 sound very similar. IMO, They'll walk all over any TD124. Especially with that EMT arm and TSD15 cartridge, that combo is hard to beat. They're among the finest engineered turntable ever made and are a joy to operate and just sound so great. Allan, I have a source to a NOS 930........ If you wish to learn more about emt tables, check out this website http://www.stefanopasini.it/My%20Turntables-EMT-Thumbs.htm
  20. Craig, I'm very sory to hear about your loss. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Guy
  21. I have had many very positive experiences with quite a few C-J preamps. I'm still convinced that the PV-10 is one of the best bargains in the audio industry. Although most of them are rather colored, they always make music. I've had PV-2,PV-5,PV-10A & Evolution 20SE (which I still own) and had listened to PV-3,4,14 and Premier 14. I could easily live with most of them (didn't like the PV-14 that much as it sounded too dry and lost that fine balance between detail and musicality).
  22. Congrats and cheers from sunny Tel-Aviv. Guy.
  23. There's a nice TD125 MK1 with SME 3009 currently on ebay with a $300 BIN. Someone must hurry and grab it fast.... http://cgi.ebay.com/THORENS-TD125-turntable-with-SMC-arm-WOW_W0QQitemZ9720350409QQcategoryZ48649QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. Wish I would have kept and could have showed you some of the emails I received from Mario/Aaron/Marius in the past.......
