  1. When I spoke to him, he indicated all he ever did to cabinets is oil them regularly. I'll certainly find out what oil he is using. The funny thing is I've owned several pair of Heritage Speakers over the past 5 years. One of them was a pair of Cornwalls which had Walnut Oil cabinets. However, the pattern of wood and the color was very unique/nice. When I listed them for sale, several experienced Forum members commented on their appearance. These Chorus cabinets appear to be simllar to my old Cornwalls.
  2. I spoke to Seller this afternoon. Seems like a very nice guy who has owned these speakers for about seven years. I plan to pick them up Saturday afternoon. He confirmed they look as nice as they appear in photos. I'm anxious to get them - as I have a second system in my Bonus Room which I would like to have a pair of Heritage speakers to pair with. I was considering a pair of Cornwalls, but I believe they would be just too large for my space.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking for a pair of Chorus speakers. These are about 2 1/2 hour drive for me - but appear to be in nice condition and decent price. Just purchased them. I'll post photos when I get them home
  4. It is all packed and ready to go. I think you'll be very happy with it.
  5. I have a Juicy Music Blueberry Extreme preamp which I'm considering selling. I'm second owner and have the walnut cabinet also. It has remote control, but only 1 set of outputs. Overall, in excellent condition. PM me if interested
  6. I plan to research the tube dampers more. Based on the comments in this thread, and others I've read, there are certainly many people who are convinced they improve the sound quality.
  7. I thought I would let you know outcome of my tube question for my Cary amp. I decided to puchase EH 6CA7 tubes and at same time had amp caps upgraded with Cardas caps by Cary Audio. I was able hook the amp up yesterday for the first time. The rest of system is Logitech Duet, Musical Fidelity Tri Vista 21 DAC, Audible Illusions Modulus 3 Preamp, and my Belle speakers. While I have only listened to the system for about 5 hours, my initial impressions are really positive. Since I had tubes and caps replaced at same time, I dont know which had largest impact on performance. I can say the changes combined have resulted in outstanding performance with the Belles. The imaging and soundstage is wonderful - and the clarity of sound is tremendous. I had been using my Adcom GFA 5802 amp with the system until the Cary amp was available. There is no doubt for me and what I like in sound quality - the Belles driven by Cary tube amp is signifantly better than Adcom solid state amp. I don't plan anymore changes in the near term and plan to enjoy what I have. Thanks to all for suggestions on tubes.
  8. Marvel, If I had it to do over, I most likely would have a lower powered tube amp for use with the Belle speakers. As with your experience with the 2A3 amps - there are a lot of very satisified Klipsch owners with lower powered tube amps. In the week I've owned my Belle speakers, I've driven them with an Adcom GFA5802 amp through my AR SP16 preamp. Talk about overkill with power. I need to replace the tubes in my Cary amp before I can hook it up to the Belles. (Therefore, the start of this thread ) I have a Sony TAN8550 VFET amp I plan to hook up tomorrow in place of the Adcom. I'm curious to hear how it performs with the Belles.
  9. Thank you all for comments regarding my EL34 question. I realize asking for tube recommendations is difficult based on the many factors which influence how a "tube" sounds in a particular system and in a particular room. Now that I have the Belle speakers, their efficiency just blows me away compared to all other speakers I have owned. I believe the Cary amp has significantly more capacity than the Belle speakers require to perform at their best. I believe from what I've read and comments here - the EL34 (or KT77) tubes are what I'll try. I believe I will hear a difference from the EH KT88 tubes I have in the amp from when I purchased it used.
  10. Yes - the amp can run all the tubes you listed. I'm glad to see the EL-34 tubes would be one of your preferences. Do you have any experience with SED EL34 C tubes? I've been researching multiple sites, attempting to get a good idea of what others have tried and liked. This tube seems to be mentioned favorably by many.
  11. I've recently purchased a nice pair of Belle speakers - made in 1989. These have the AB Crossovers, which I understand are not thought of very highly by the Klipsch community. I've ordered a pair of Crites A/4500 crossovers with their CT125 tweeters. Ultimately, I plan to drive these speakers with a Cary CAD-280SA V12 amp. My preamp is an Audio Research SP16. The Cary amp is pretty flexible as far as tubes - and I'm considering ordering EL34 tubes instead of KT88 tubes. I would appreciate any opinions as to wisdom of using the EL34 tubes over the KT88 tubes and if anyone has experience with a particular EL34 tube which they would recommend I consider.
  12. After listening to the Cornwalls with new crossovers and stock K77 for several days - I replaced the K77s with the new CT125s. For me, with my system, and my listening room - I'm very happy with the CT125s. As noted by others, the CT125s sound less bright and smoother than the K77s. The combination of new crossovers with the CT125s has resulted in a much more balanced sound, with improved imaging as compared with the original crossovers and K77s. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the improved performance. I've recently purchased a Denon DP-60L turntable which I plan to use with my Cornwalls. I have a Forte Model 3 amp and a Coda 04r preamp which will power the Cornwalls. I just need to buy a phono preamp, and I'll find out how my improved Cornwalls will perform with vinyl.
  13. I'll keep you posted over the course of the next week on crossover observations. After just a couple of hours, I can already say the new crossovers have definately "opened up" the highs in my Cornwalls. Where as before, I thought they sounded a little laid back (one of reasons I couldn't understand people saying horns were "harsh") - now they sound much brighter and more forward. Quite pleased with the difference. One of the concerns I had about the CT125s were comments on them being less "crisp" than originals. As I felt my Cornwalls were already "laid back", having the CT125s sound less crisp raised a question in my mind. With the new crossovers, I may like a little less brightness. At this time, I'm not certain if that will be the case or not.
  14. I thought I would post an update on new Crossovers and CT125s. I installed the crossovers a few moments ago and just now powered them up. Too early to give listening impressions. I didn't install the CT125s yet, as I wanted to determine the effect of new crossovers only. I'll post my impressions in about a week. I also have attached a photo of one of the new installed crossovers. I wasn't sure how difficult installation would be. Turned out to be very straightforward.
  15. Thanks for the observations Al. I know from reading through other posts, you are very knowledgeable of the possible upgrades to Cornwalls. You mention upgrading the squawker horn - where is an upgraded horn available from? Thanks, Denny
  16. After deciding to not sell my Cornwalls earlier this month (best decision I've made in a while), I bit the bullet and ordered new Type B crossovers and CT125 tweeters from Bob Crites this morning. My Cornwalls are from 1980 and I figured replacing the crossovers should be a nice improvement from the originals. I'm less certain about what to expect with the CT125s. I know there are many posts stating how much better they sound than the K-55M. However, I've read some posts where improvement wasn't noted. I concluded they were worth a try. As many people have noted previously - Bob Crites is absolutely top notch in helping people, such as myself, feel comfortable with ordering parts from him. This is in addition to his excellent customer service. Now that I've ordered - can't wait until next week when they should arrive!!!
  17. Dennie - I have to admit "I'm lovin them"!!!! Im listening to XM Radio right now, using a Polk XM receiver - and they sound wonderful to me. A little Bob Seeger, Simon & Garfunkle, and Eagles - life is good for a monday evening!!!
  18. So far, I really like the RF-63's. Been listening strictly to 2 channel music. Based on reading other threads - I wasn't sure what to expect as far as bass performance. I feel the bass is quite good - not lacking at all for music. I attempted to attach a quick picture I took last night - hope it shows ok.
  19. Thank you for the warm welcome Bill and Dennie. I must confess I've visited the Klipsch forums many times over the past year - and learned alot. I bought my first pair of Klipsch speakers just less than a year ago - a pair of Forte IIs. Needless to say I was very impressed with these - but sold them to step up to a pair of Cornwalls. I actually bought 2 pair of Cornwalls as I fell in love with them. I decided, just before Christmas, to sell a pair of the Cornwalls with intent to try the Reference line. I will never sell the Cornwalls I have now. Whenever I listen to them, I'm amazed at their performance - and they are 30 years old!!! So I was able to find the RF-63s in Cherry - to me, they look beautiful as shown in the photo above. I'll keep you posted on how they perform.
  20. Purchased a new pair of RF-63 speakers this evening - cherry finish. I've been wanting to try the Reference Series speakers - as I have a pair of Cornwalls made in 1980 which I enjoy very much. I'm going to start out driving the Rf-63's with a B&K EX442 Sonata Amp through a B&K Reference 50 processor. Source will be a Denon 3910 universal player. Later on, I have a Forte amp and preamp system which I will try - currently using with my cornwalls. I'll post my thoughts on the RF-63s after I've had time to break them in. First impression is they look great and sound the same.
