  1. Does anyone know if other Klipsch products suffer the same problem as iFi? In specific, what about the Promedia 2.1? I loved the sound when I sampled some at Best Buy. They blew away any other speaker in the price range. BUT I am still bitter about the lack of quality in the $500 ifi I purchased when it first came out!
  2. @Rad09, are you a handy electrical person or a newbie? I really want to fix my iFi system but I don't have soldering tools. Way back 35+ years ago I used to mess around with simple electronic circuits, and I can certainly ID the capacitors, but I am not sure I have the right skill set to attempt this myself. Hoping someone reading this with the right skills is in Massachusetts and would be kind enough to help me with this. I would pay for such help!
  3. Hi all, I have this system and am really disappointed in its deterioration. When it was working the sound was fantastic. Now I have the random volume/balance problems. I replaced the dock and it did nothing to solve the problem. I presume I have the capacitor problem. Here's the thing: I'm not qualified to do this myself (at least not without a really good video tutorial of the process--I don't have any electrical tools). I'd love to pay someone a reasonable fee to do this for me. I really love the sound of these speakers and paid a lot for them. I want them to go back to working like new. I'm in Massachusetts. I live near the CT border by the Sturbridge where I90 and I84 meet. I work in Waltham (nearer to Boston). Is there someone who could do this work for a reasonable fee? If so, you can reach me by email at my first name (the first 4 letters of my user name here) at affectiva D0T com Or if I must do this myself, can someone speak to the likelihood of a newb being successful?
  4. Ed, I am so frustrated with this problem. I bought the docking component, but it didn't fix the problem. They offered to refund me, but it is such a pain to box up the stuff. I really love the sound quality of these $500 speakers and would love to get my system working correctly again. I bet this problem happens to every iFi still in use after a few years. -Rich
  5. I'm an idiot. Despite several well articulated messages here I went ahead and wasted $57 (plus shipping) to get a new dock in hopes of repairing my iFi. Volume control still malfunctions as before with the new dock. I should have trusted the community here. What now? I want to make this thing work again! Any chance of getting my $57 back?
  6. Ty, The behavior you describe is EXACTLY what is happening to me. I haven't yet bothered to update the dock since it seems in a good percentage of cases that is not the problem. I bought my IFI when the product first launched and paid close to $500. It really irritates me that a $500 speaker system from a reputable manufacturer would break. I was quite happy with the audio quality when it all worked correctly, but I feel strongly that there is a serious flaw in the design based on this problem we all share. I am based in Massachusetts these days and would love to hook up with someone qualified to fix this system for me for a reasonable fee. I don't feel I should be giving Klipsch anymore money unless they are willing to fix this for me. If they offer to fix it I would gladly pay for the shipping back and fourth. Anyone from MA with the required skill set?
  7. Dani, yeah I just adjusted the wheel and pushed down on it a bit. I doubt it will keep working for long.
  8. I willl certainy reply Dani, but I should warn you a little trial and error I've gotten the system where it is working for the moment. So I don't plan to purchase the new dock until the next time the sound goes out in one of the speakers (or other serious problem). If I don't touch the wheel it seems to be stable for the moment. I suspect it may work like this for another week or two!
  9. Gents: thanks for the response. Klipsch support indicated it may be the dock, the amp or both and suggested I try the doc first. I'll give it a try for $60 or whatever. If I can save these speakers for that price I will remain happy. If not, I will become a dissatisfied customer.
  10. I am having the same problem as others. I am very upset. I can't get output out of both left and right at the same time anymore. There are loud popping noises when sound turns on or off. I am not using an iPod, I am using this with my computer. Used to sound sweet. I bought these around 2003 or 4. They were $500. I expect them to still work. How do I fix this? Is their a repair shop in Massachusetts?
