It tasted pretty darn good. Even though I was a coffee drinker, the effect was awesome. But that second cup, not so much. That was 25 years ago. I did 5-6 cups a day until last month when I had my gall bladder removed. Coffee was on the lists of stuff I found online that needed to be avoided. I missed it so I drink a cup per day now if I need it.

A four day supply? Wow. I ordered a cup of Kona at a coffee shop across the street from the beach in Hilo one fine afternoon. It was so strong it made me feel like a human pinball machine with lights flashing and bells dinging. A second cup made me feel polluted and gave me a headache.

There should be a paper label on the lower part with a couple of signatures that also contains the model number and serial number. FWIW, older Klipschorns value starts at about $2,000 and goes up. These are 35 years old and likely need the capacitors replaced in the crossovers, an easy thing to do if you keep them, and won't detract from the value if you decide to sell them.

The picture posted at 10:07pm yesterday shows a 2A3 tube in someone's hand. Does Craig at Eddie Current think you're using 45s or 2A3s?

Not a good rule of thumb for capacitors. In today's throw away society, parts are frequently used that are running at the edge of their rated voltage specification. My Pentium motherboard had 6 volt electrolytics in the 5 volt circuit. They dried out and shorted. I pulled them off the board and replaced them with higher voltage caps and got the board running again. In researching the problem online afterward, it appeared that most electronics is made that way now to save a few pennies for the bottom line. Apologies for changing the subject from crossover caps to something else.

I called the listing party and went to audition the La Scalas. They were beautiful, and I intended on buying them then and there. We got to talking about Belles, and he mentioned he had a single walnut oiled Belle. I bought it as a center to use between my 1967 KCWRs. I wasn't around in the 1930s, though I remember reading in an antique radio book that the ST style glass was designed for better heat dissipation over the balloon style glass.

Don't waste yer money on a Huntron. You can make one with a 2 channel O'scope, a couple resistors, and a 6volt transformer. $5 in parts vs. a $1500 (20yrs ago) dedicated tool. Check the schematic before measuring any component, otherwise you can end up measuring other stuff in the circuit.

Who sells untested tubes? Estate sales, garage sales, flippers on ePay who scored a bulk deal on a ham's estate, etc. Before the internet I went to an antique radio shop in San Diego for tubes and caps and stuff for a Philco 20 I was rebuilding, and they got the prices by looking it up in AES's catalog. That printed catalog likely set the market back then. Lately they've been about equal on prices with most mail order places I've seen. Good luck with the inheritance.

A resto shop in the Nevada desert isn't a place you'd take a HK receiver, unless you wanted it returned sandblasted and powder coated. I don't have the schematic of the record player on the show, I'm just doubtful of the price quoted.

I got camera'd on both ends. When I was sideways on the table the Doc picked up the camera and said they were going to inspect my intestines with it, then look down my throat in my stomach. An untested tube is nothing more than a 50yr old untested light bulb. I wouldn't buy one unless it was very rare and desirable, like a 45 I scored at an estate sale for $5. Check out Antique Electronic Supply www.tubesandmore.com where you'll see many tubes listed between 5 and 10 dollars each, and they've been tested before being listed for sale. I was watching American Restoration on TV today where a guy brought in a 60s record player and was told the tubes could be $50 each if they were bad. So much mis-information gets told to folks these days about tubes.

There may have been a bid war over them, we'll never know. Someone definitely wanted them.

I used to have a laser disk player from 1984 that would play disks intermittently. I found lots of info that said the laser gets old and degrades and finally stops working properly. I donated the player and took a tax write-off on it.

Read the specifications on your iMac. I had read the same about the optical being removed from the Mac Mini, and the salesdude had no clue, but the specs showed the Mini I bought earlier this year still has it.

But be sure to use Klipsch ear buds with it.

Three days ago you posted that one of your K-77 tweeters is bad. That sounds like it's probably the reason that you're hearing white noise coming out of it.

A line of 12 DPST switches would do it if looks aren't important. One switch per channel x 6 amplifiers, wire the speakers common to each switch and select one pair of switches at a time. I used to see speaker selectors used by the Bose sales guys. Their speakers were louder when instantaneously compared to others, even though the more efficient ones (like Klipsch) should have been louder. I see now that the Niles SVL-6 has adjustable volume on every channel.
