  1. Indeed guys, I was the closest guess, and Klipsch did good on something they didnt promised, and that was give a set of 5.1's to the winner!! I took my wife and kids out in a little drive down the baja peninsula (Mexico) and when I got back I found out tru Amy my new set of 5.1's had already been shipped to me for a while... So, yes!, they where there and are now installed and surpassing all my expectacions about them And yes Deaf! I am a content fella.. I also like the way way you said my ID better "Bajepeche" lol!!!
  2. Actually, yes you can Sane1, let me try to explain.. I currently own the Sound Blaster Platinum Live and the Promedias 4.1, I used to have the Altec Lansings ACS48, altought a great set , they are no comparison to the Pros, anyway, I also wanted to get 5.1 sound out of what I got, and after doing some research I found the solution was right in SBLP5.1. First, you will need another set of speakers like the Pros 2.1 or any other GOOD 2.1 set,if you want to match your Pros 4.1 I sugest you get the Pro's 2.1 but the ACS48 like the ones that I have do a wonderfull job as centers as well (under $100). Second, Plug your 4.1 to the SBPL5.1 "main" and "rear" then plug you 2.1's(your choice) to the "center/sub" out (quick note here: the center/sub out is also a digital out, it has a double duty assignment, dont let that confuse you, you will later configure the card to output your choice of sound) Third, once all the speakers are installed turn on your PC and open the SBLP "surround mixer" and choose "5.1", you can also run a "sound test" there, if you did everything righ you'll hear the "front left, center, front right, rear left, rear right, voice coming out fron their perspective speakers. So up to here you are set. This is 5.1 ANALOG sound and belive me , it sound great, and it is perfect for games, MP3's and CD music. Now for the last part. If you want to see DVD's and hear them in TRUE 5.1 sound You will need to get WinDVD and apply the 5.1 patch to it ( available for download at windvd site )They offer a free version for download there too, make sure to apply the 5.1 patch tho. With this you'll hear your DVD's in perfect 5.1 sound, altought analog but if you ask me, just as good as Digital. The voice of the character will come out from the center speakers and your surround sounds will cover you in a 360 degree atmosphere, just awesome. One more note, it is actually nice to be able to adjust t he volume of the center speakers separately, sometimes the surround seems overwhelming but, you can always adjust the sound in all speakers to your preference... Well I hope this helps you, good luck!!
  3. I forgot to tell you, I have the Logitech cordless Keyboard and Mouse combo Wich I bought for $78 including shipping, and you can control the loudness up and down with the KB, and I pause DVD movies with the Mouse, this from anywhere in the PC room... I dont really load the "creative remote center" as it takes a considerable amount of resources and I really find it unnecesary, but again that would depend in the user needs.
  4. It depends on what you want it for, I record a lot of my own music and I find the SBL PLatinum 5.1 a great tool for music creating, with its included software Cubasis VST, also the variety of inputs including midi set up in the front of the "live drive" are nice and easy to access too. The remote is a nice feature but i find myself hardly ever using it.. but that would depend in each user. For just gaming and and DVD or MP3 listening (or any other sound format), the Gamer offers a really good value, if you are decided on a "Creative" product that is...
  5. Go to WinMX, or Bearshare and do a search for "woofer cooker" or "Thx Test" there is a bunch of diferent ones, and you should get a bunch of results, I think Woofer Cooker is among the best, the initial part of it REALLY rattled my office!!
  6. Thats a great idea Bugman, no, you wont loose any sound quality by having the speakers upside down. And the speakers cover, be adventurous and try it yourself and they fit fine as you got me curious with your question and tried it on mine. I am now thinking on designing my own ceiling mounts, if you are handy with tools you shouldnt have any problenms with it, anyways... great Idea!! Good luck.
  7. A Prayer ======== So far today, God, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or indulgent, havent post nasty threads in the Klipsch forum for the delay in the release of the 5.1s. I'm very thankful for that. But in a few minutes God, I'm going to get out of this bed, and from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help. Amen
  8. As you can see in this picture, there is no real need for the center speaker(s) to have any kind of stand in a PC set up, they are shielded so the magnets do not interfer with the monitor. This center are the Altec Lansings ACS48,along with the Pros 4.1,you can also see the ACS48 Sub under the desk, the Pros Sub is to the left in a corner of my Computer room where it really maximizes its potencial, this gang is a Kick gluteus maximus set up!.The surrouns sats are in a book shelf behind me in a nice corner enclosure where they also seem to really explode!
  9. OK here is a nice set that will fit the Pros nicely. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/vss-electronics/rb-1.html
  10. Amy, this seems somewhat confusing for the following reasons: I do have the SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 and yes indeed you can hook up a 5.1 "analog" set to it,and if the new Pros 5.1 come with 3 jacks to connect them as follows: Front/L/R jack Rear/L/R jack Center/Sub jack you will be able to connect them to the SBPL5.1 but in an analog configuration, not digital. I was hoping the Klipsch Digital Decoder would plug in to the 1 digital out of the SBLP5.1 and then connect your Pros 5.1 to the KDD (Klipsch Digital Decoder) for a 5.1 Digital sound... I guess will find out soon. txs.
  11. Here is a link for a set os stands at radio shack, now I am not sure if this is the set that fits the 4.1's but check it out: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F006%5F005%5F004&product%5Fid=40%2D2015
  12. I currently have the Pros 4.1 with a Sound Blaster Platinum Live 5.1,and a set of Altec Lansings ACS48 for a 6.2 set up (actually a 5.1 analog set up). As I understand the Pros 5.1 will be relesed anytime from now till the end of the month (June). I also read the the way of connecting the new 5.1 will be done by way of 3 jacks: Front/L/R jack Rear/L/R jack and finally Center/Subwoofer jack. Now, I hope I am not wrong but this will do exactly what my current set up is doing, it will give me an awesome 5.1 analog sound,of course with the added kick from the 8" dual subs and the extra watts as well..(wish btw,is my main "excuse" to my wife as why I am getting the new 5.1's lol!!). But, when you are talking about a Klipsch Digital Decoder, as I read from a current post in this forum, and as I will paste below the words from our fellow Pros fan Justin Tx 16, it definetively puts a smile on my face: "A certain Amy has told me some great news. They will be putting out a new Digital Decoder for all promedias that will put out 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 sound, maybe even 6.1 etc, she did not say... But it will cost $90 and plug into your digital out soundcard..." Now,that's what I am talking about, that decoder would make a real diference by providing all current Klipsch owners (2.1's,4.2,4.1's and all combos of this)a chance to create their own digital set up!. With this Digital decoder I could just replace my Altec Lancings ACS48 center with a set of Pros 2.1 if that was my choice,I could, but the truth is I cant wait to hear the 5.1's and I cant wait to read more information on this Digital Decoder as it becomes available. So if anybody hears more about this gadget, please post your replay here,..and to the gang at Klipsch, well, keep up the excellent work and please never stop bringing innovative products into our lifes...
  13. I got the SBLP5.1 too along with the Pro's 4.1,they do sound great together... You need to plug in the "green" plug of the pros to the soundcard's output "line out", then plug the "purple" pro's plug to the soundcard's ""rear out". Then turn your PC on and open the Creative program and choose "soundBlasterlive" then open the "Surround Mixer", once there, click on the "speaker" button, then choose the "4 speakers" option... and enjoy! You could also add a "center" speaker for a 5.1 analog surround (thats the way I got mine set up, with the 4.1's for front and surround and the ACS48's as center set), if you get an additional set of 2.1 speakers, you would plug them in the Digital/analog(center) output of your soundcard for what some fellows call "6.2" set up (6 speakers, 2 subwoofers),but in reality it is 5.1 analog surround sound, and by the way they sound just awesome!. Well I hope this helps... have fun.
  14. "Drag it" down with your mouse pointer from the triangular pattern in the bottom right corner of your Winamp, this way you can make it longer or also wider. No Klipsch Q's or comments this time?
  15. You are right, and I am sure it wont be long till the 5.1's have their own category. Specially once they go on sale, and people begin "field" testing them. I am so happy with my 4.1's (wish I turned into 6.2 analog with my SBLP5.1 and ACS48's center), but I must admit that the lure of dual 8" sub and the added center are just way too much for me to resist!! I will be "field" testing them as soon as they become available.
  16. Was that heatsink problem mentioned the reazon for the overheating? I currently am on my second set of 4.1's I lost mt first one to overheated sub and the following distortion that comes with it. I am planing on buying the 5.1's as soon as they become available, but I am concern even now with my second set of 4.1's.I keep a little (10") fan behind it as I felt some pretty good heat in the back of this replacement set too,and I never push it over 40% main power... I sure hope the cause for this problem has been corrected,I'll keep you posted on the perfomance of my current set, btw, so far except for that excesive heat my 4.1 really do rock!
  17. Well,I havent been here for a while (2 weeks or so)and I was pleasently surprised with the new look of the site in general. I was amused by the intro, I think it is pretty cool, I would imagine that after coming back a few more times I would want to press the offered "skip intro" button, wich is nice to have, but it will indeed make a nice impression for Klipsch newbies. Nice work!
  18. Same thing happened to me,I reyurned the set and got a perfect working replacement. I am still a bit paranoid about the temp on the sub but, it doesnt get anywhere near as hot as my first set did. Good luck on your new set, I am definetively enjoying my Pros now
  19. Good luck with your new Sub Hell,I do understand your frustration,You ovbiously had a "bum" sub, things will get better with your new one....
  20. Remember Winamp also has a balance control...or if you use any other player, double and triple check on it. Good Luck.
  21. I downloaded the woofer Cooker and it does give me some awesome Bass, but the highs are really crappy, not in the account of the pros but in the MP3 itself. I would imagine there is a better version of it, but not on Napster. Hard to tell with your sample recording, sounds pretty much same as I hear it on mine... awesome bass poorly defined highs. I find that the Pros are a great set and they tend to "amplify" poorly transfered tunes, but the bottom line is that they are just about the best PC speakers there are in their class... Also I noticed that a lot of peolpe belives that if their woofer doesnt keep an steady stream of wind coming out of the port, then is not kicking... This is far from thruth. I hope you dont have a bad set and I wish you the best of lucks in getting the sound you hope for.
  22. Ok I got my 6.2 set up back up ( SBPL5.1 card,KLipsch Pro's 4.1, Altec Lansing ACS48 center). I read of a set of stands for the rear sats but I think the topic is gone now, anyways I am in the market for a pair of them. I apreciate any links and comments on you set if you already got one. Thanks again you fine Klipsch gang for your feedback.
