  1. I kept the Streamer II+ and sold the V-dac and Dacmagic

I went ahead and picked up another Music Streamer ll "Plus" in addition to the Streamer ll. Is the "Plus" better for the additional $200.00? Well, I got tighter bass and slightly more refined mids-highs.....so I'd have to say yes.

My experience with these units has not worked well with my tubes. However, in my solid state systems they shine. Beats me. YMMV. Huh?

Picked up a Streamer II+ myself and what a transformation of the pc music library. There is no way this thing should sound this good. Thanks for the tip Scott.[Y]

  2. Sounds like your on your way. Remember alot of folks like tubes on those horns. Just something else to think about. I find the KLF 30 mid to be very aggresseive on every pair I have ever listened to. You have some nice equipment there so I know its not that. I have heard them with tons of different gear. Alot of folks put a big SS on the woofers and a tube amp on the mids and highs. Best of both worlds.

  3. Well if your going to stand by your car comment I'll stand by mine.

As far as you and Frankenklipsch thats your business.

Do Klipsch a favor and buy a new pair instead of telling them all that they did wrong with their discontinued line. Thats just a suggestion nothing else. I think you can easlily lead folks a stray in your DIY world that is all about your taste. I won't ask you about Chorus II's cause I would prefer not to hear it.

As far as the OP I see his are for sale. That didn't take long.

  4. Did you really think about what you just said? I just gave you an explaination as to why it matters but it should be obvious, he said a large portion of the throat was covereed by the gasket and you think that is fine? Best put the grills back on so you don't have to think about it. Best regards Moray James.

What you forgot is that I am the one that just sold them to him and there isn't actually an 1/8th of an inch difference from one side to the other. I know the speakers very well and talked to Klipsch about them many times on the phone. The gaskets are orange so they stand out like a sore thumb and you can tell that they are just a little different from each other. If it was covering half of the throat of course there might be an issue.

I had no intentions of being rude but to make a comparison as you did was rude.

Some like Legends other not so much. There are many speakers in the Klipsch family to choose from all with their own strengths and weaknesses. The way some people chop up the original design I think they should just build their own speakers because sometimes you can no longer call them by the manufacturers name.

  5. Taking the gaskets out to make them truly out of site and mind is a bad idea as that will leave a gap in the horn where the gasket should have been.

He never said he was going to do that. Where are you reading? Is Kerry sending pms or something?

  6. It does not matter how they got this way (mid gaskets askew) but it is important to check to see if the drivers are snug and to correct the position of the gasket.

Already stated the drivers are snug what does the position of the gasket matter. Klipsch doesn't think it matters already been asked and answered.

  7. *I do have one concern with these KLF-30's. I did notice one of the speakers have a orange like gasket that isn't centered in the midrange correctly(the other speakers orange gasket is perfectly centered). In fact, it's almost half way off center and covers almost half of the driver. Is there any way to repair this? I did a A/B test between the right and left speakers, but didn't notice any sound differences like I expected to. Anyway, if it's a easy fix, I would dive in and fix it just for peace of mind.

    Kerry,

These came from the factory new this way according to the original owner. I never noticed the slightest audible difference and both mid range drivers are tight so no worries. If the orange gasket bothers you from a pyscological cosmetic stand point you could always even them out.

But as you already stated and I agree they sound much better with the grills on.

  8. Glad to see you are enjoying the KLF 30. Yes once away from the initial shock of the new speakers reality sets in and since I have also owned those Paradigm V2's I agree with your assessment. The KLF 30's are a very good speaker and sound nice but so do alot of other speakers. There are speakers within the Klipsch family that I feel excel the performance of the 30's and also several outside of the Klipsch line as well. But alot of it comes down to personal preference. Some folks get so caught up in personal opinion that it sorta of clouds their judgement. At the end of the day buy what you like and enjoy.

  9. The horn in the KLF20/30 is a better horn than the one used in the Chorus ll. I say this because the horn in the KLF20/30 is used as a tweeter and can be run right out to 20 KHz. and maintaim its pattern control the mids horn in the Chorus ll cannot.

Well that explains why the mid horn of the Chorus II is so much smoother.[;)]

Don't get me wrong KLF 30's are very nice speakers and can do alot of things great but I only place them so high up the totem pole.

  10. Thanks Stormin and rivernuggets for those helpfull links. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Chorus IIs and give em a try. My next question is on the center channel. Will my KLF C-7 be the best match for the Chorus IIs? It sounds great right now and timbre matches my KLF 20s. I don't wanna loose the proper timbre so if the C-7 is the best match then I'll keep it otherwise I'll have to make the move for the proper center channel. Thank you guys for all your help.

If you already own KLF 20's and a KLF C-7 and are looking to match up your home theater I would buy the KLF 30's if I was you.

Then I would buy the Chorus II's for my 2 channel only room and enjoy both systems[Y]

  11. Hey Kerry glad you like the speakers. I knew they would blow your mind. They looked great in your room.

Now you are starting to realize what all of us Klipsch fanatics have been talking about all these years.

Klipsch just plain and simply rocks and sounds excellent doing so.[Y]

  12. Agreed Keith.

But like you I also have a Karcher HD 3101.

Always use the pump lubricant every year and fuel treatment over the winter.

Not one leak and runs and pumps like new.

But these 3101 models actually are quite a bit more powerful than your local car wash.

The Dirtblaster rotary nozzle can be dangerous. As stated it will cut down small trees.
