  1. Just a heads up, these reek of smoke...like some old rocker chain smoked in his living room for 25 years with them.
  2. I still have the cornwalls that were allegedly his. My first set of Klipsch.
  3. Cheers...round of Elijah small batch on me just replaced a dog damaged k-22 with a free less cat damaged k-22 from a nice forum member. Now my heresy moves air again!
  4. Thanks for the offer, but being decorators, my wife would throw a fit. Appreciate the reply though.
  5. Bump...since I missed out on some today.
  6. I'll take them if still avaliable...stupid great danes...
  7. My great dane puppy decided to unleash the beast on my decorator heresys...if anyone has a working K-22 for a reasonable price I would appreciate it. I plan on wrapping the driver with cloth behind the motorboard until the puppy stage is over. Since they are decorators, both have been sun exposed for awhile...so I could care less about looks....I will need to match them when i refinish them. Thanks, ACE

  9. As for the member map, the guestmap service I used to host the member data went belly up, along with the database and information...which was just a username and a zip code. This was the 2nd attempt of a map/database, the original frappr map from another member is gone as well. I am unfortunately too busy these days to start another map project and I am also not around nearly as much as I used to be on the forum. If someone were to undertake the project, I would recommend using something along the lines of POI Edit and save the GPS coordinates of the zip code...this way, the GPS data could be overlayed over a variety of sources like google maps or a even a .ov2 file that could import into a variety of GPS programs. I would not rely on any more hosted map solutions. This was the exact reason I started the map, I was lucky to get Chris in Las Vegas to tote my Persian Nutwood Corns home for me, but thought it would be nice to know people in a lot more areas. ACE
  10. I did not think of that, however the 1183 is a round basket, not the square one.
  11. I just posted in the garage sale, i am looking for a pair of k-1111-a 8" woofers. They were used in the SA-3 and the CA-8T. Being under the assumption i will not be able to find them (klipsch parts is out), any recommendations on a 3rd party replacement? They are 8", 4 ohm, and have that rounded off square shape. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Shot in the dark here, anyone have any spare k-1111-a woofers? Klipsch parts did not, they were used in SA-3 and the CA-8t as far as i know, maybe others. I am going to make a related post in technicial to see if anyone has any 3rd party recommendations. Thanks!
  13. Pre-Superbowl Manhattan round on me!
  14. I have 9" depth on the mantle, I have a decent JBL center from my outdoor theater, I may try that out just to see if I like the addition of a center and then decide what to get from there if I like it.. I have the slant bases for the Heresys but I need to do some test staining to match the speakers. My wife was pretty excited at the thought of no speakers additional speakers though.
  15. *dusts off barstool* "Hey, this place is still open....I should probably have a bloody mary since it is before noon!" Cheers everyone!
  16. Sorry, tried to attach a picture, did not work first time
  17. Do I want a center channel in this setup? (yes it took a year from my last post to fish the optical cable in this wall) My mantle is about 2 inches shallow for an Academy. The lack of center is not exactly bothering me, but I think it would be better. WAF is pretty critical, I barely got away with the Heresys as it is. Since I am under the assumption everyone will say more speakers are better, any recommendations?
  18. Thanks for all the advice. I bit the bullet and bought a $150 set of HDMI extenders that say they support ARC, and 1080P 3D for 50 meters. If they preform well, I will update because $150 is quite a bit cheaper than most of the other ones out there if anyone else bumps into an issue with extending HDMI. ACE
  19. Thanks for the input...the TV is the bulk of the sources since I upgraded to a smart tv..I used to have a WD Netflix player and a DVD ect...I pretty much only need my PS3 which does my bluray playing and dvd/cd ect. The tv handles the OTA/Netflix/Hulu and other web/streaming content. As far as I can tell...any HDMI cable should support ARC. My issue is I bought HDMI extenders to basically make pulling an HDMI above a masonry fireplace easirer...much easier pulling two CAT6 (which feeds the HDMI extender) than an HDMI cable through finished walls with a 9o degree turn at the mantle. It is the convertors from the CAT6 to HDMI that I believe do not support the ARC channel. The optical cable would also solve the issue and if I have to pull a cable, it is easier to fish that than am HDMI. I like the idea of the external tuner...I can still run other sources through other means. I may investigate that. Thanks for the help. I probably should break down and just cut the wall up again...but I am having a hard time coming to terms with that. I have not noticed any votes for the sound bar instead of AVR, so I am under the assumption everyone believes a pair of Heresy's is the preferred solution. ACE
  20. From what I have learned, HDMI 1.3 and above has a built in "Audio Return Channel" where sound will pass backwards from the TV back to the Receiver, thus negating the requirement to run an audio out from the TV to the reciever. However, the extenders I bought are not compatible with the feature, so I am stuck either running an additional cable, replaceing the extenders, or moving to another option.
  21. This is my first attempt at anything home theater related in many years...and it is not really a home theater, more of a wife-centric attempt at sneaking speakers into the living room. A bit of background...After moving, I lost my basement and have to do all of my tv watching in the living room. Went with an antenna and the netflix/hulu route for now to try and save some money. My cornwalls would not fit in the living room, so I moved my Heresy's in there. My plan was to buy a small footprint reveiver (went with the HK 1510...it is not that great, more fluff than substance, but this was supposed to be simple for my wife) My TV is above the fireplace, I fished 3 CAT6, power and a coax. Two of the CAT6 run an HDMI extender that was going to be the source of everything but OTA broadcasts and I figured the tv speakers would be fine. Tragedy struck in the form of the tuner going bad on my tv before I even got things hooked up. So I bought a new 4k smart tv that does pretty much everything the rest of the components were going to do anyways, but the sound is horrible...way worse the the old tv...probably due to the small bezel and not having front facing speakers. So I speed up my plan to hook up my speakers...but now realize I have no way of outputting the sound from the TV (which is now the source for most everything as opposed to several things hooked up to the reciever) to back to the receiver. I find that both the stereo and the TV support HDMI ARC (I did not even realize this existed), however my HDMI extender does not. I am now at a standstill and have a few options and looking for some advice. I can cut the wall up again and fish a proper hdmi or optical cable to the stereo....I really don't want to cut the wall up again. I could buy HDMI extneders that support ARC, but they cost more than most of my speakers have and seems like a waste of money. I could buy Klipsch's finest soundbar and that would be less work than fishing new cables. I could fix this in some other option I have not discovered but someone on this forum will surely know. Right now I am almost leaning sound bar route since I was not super happy with the receiver to begin with, but I have no clue about soundbar vs. heresy. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to the forum! ACE
  22. I have bought several pair from Zenni Optical and have been happy. I usually buy my one pair from my eye doctor, but buy a spare and sunglasses online. My wife did the same and has no-line bifocals and she says they are as good as the $400 ones she bought from the doctor.
  23. Cheers everyone...November....really? I see what happens when I take a sabatical from audio. A round on me...bought some new hand painted high ball glasses...may break them in after hooking my cornwalls back up for the first time in a month.
