I also agree, cans produce WAY more detailed sound than just about any speaker can, that's just the science of sound. I only meant in terms of quality, for the price, i find the 4.1's to bee good quality speakers and i like them in combination with my hd580's and 545's. sorry gluegun, but i gotta disagree with you. I find the top end sennheisers to be more on par with the 4.1's than the grado's. Don't get me wrong, the grado's are great cans, but the hd580's are simply amazing (just like my pro's ). uhui, just about every sndcard on the market is 16 bit, including the AE, the live's, the Turtle Beach, almost all of them. Practically the only ones that aren't are based on the audiophile 2496 chip's, being 24 bit, 96 hz. True, you should get a new sndcard, cause onboard audio usually sucks, but there's no need to get a 2496, which generally has more compatibility problems than more plentiful brands. dude, i don't know if it will work, but if you can get a sony wega down there, they ROCK. kaila, i like whistler so far. i'm only running build 2416 right now which is beta 1 until i get around to installing beta 2. The user interface is so much nicer than any other windows and i'm getting so sick of bsod's in Me, which i still use for gaming. My only beef so far is with sound, as in i don't have any. Whistler won't install ANY drivers for my AE which really pisses me off, but then again it barely works for some people in Me/2k, so i guess i can't complain (as long as they get their **** together when XP goes gold and i can toss Me in the trash. i'm using the hd545's right into the headphone jack, no amp. They sound pretty damn good to me, but do get a little garbles at high volumes (an amp would solve that, but i just don't have the fundage right now). but they still sound great at a decent level.
