  1. When someone that is not from North Carolina complains about the weather here, my usual response is "Welcome to North Carolina". We have some of the most inconsistant weather that I know of. I'm sure some of the guys from NC that are on this forum can vouch. Warm one day, cold the next. I must admit that winters are fairly mild compared to most, but a welcome break from the summer heat and humidity this state can produce. just my 2 Big D
  2. Lightly sand, repair any blemishes, prime with a quality primer(I suggest Sherwin-Williams DTM).Sand again. Then you can use any paint you like. I personally would spray them, but do what you're comfortable with. the quality of the job is all in the prep. Big D

    I also have to agree.
  4. I used a Rane AC-23 for awhile w/Jbl 2445 on a p-audio cd horn knock-off and a JBL 2404 tweeter. For a 2-way set-up, I used an Ashley XR-1001 w/ same mid horn and driver. Then EQed with an ART 355 on both set-ups. I would agree with the Truextent diaphrams in the JBLs for some extra extension. Now I use a passive network(700/7500). Allowed room correction on my Emotiva as a starting place. Then used EQ. It's not that one sounds better than the other, their just different. Big D
  5. This critter was on my porch last summer.
  6. One of my all-time favorites

  8. Same thing happened to me. picked up a Philips 212 with the empire 2000E/III. Here's what I found. empire specs.pdf
  9. Aaron, Just read thru the thread. WOW! What an ordeal. I am glad it all worked out. You had every right to be upset. Spending that kind of money should have warranted a more cautious delivery from the company. Well at least you can enjoy your holiday. Happy Hoildays, Big D
  10. Go to Sherwin-Williams and get a product called DTM. apply to speaker, let cure a few days sand then paint. this DTM will even stick to glass
  11. Been using those horns for 6 years on top of my Jub clones. I've used BM-D750, Selenium D-405TI and JBL 2445. All sound good, but I stuck with the JBL's. Bought another pair of the 450 horns and shelved them for my next pair of clones, when I find the time. Good luck on your build. Big D
  12. minermark How did you wire your antennas? Dig D
  13. I am first and foremost a music lover. I like it to sound as good as my pocketbook will afford. If you spend all your money on gear their is none left to buy music. Without music the gear is useless.
  14. Schu Sorry to hear about your baby. I love my girls too. Geena and Peanut Big D
  15. Picked this up today. I'm a fan of R&B/Soul. And it sounds really good on the Jubs.
  16. I assume you know that Khorns are a difficult speaker to build. Lots of angles and compound cuts. I built a pair several years ago with moderate success and using them in my bedroom system. The speakers that James mentioned are a little easier to build. They still have a few compound cut but by far easier to construct. I know their are others here who have built the Khorns. I hope they will chime in as well. And yes it is very satisfying to build and listen to such a complex speaker. I will attach a pic of my build.
  17. Half the PGA is probably taggin somum besides their wives but you don't see them droppin 240 positions.
  18. Somebody needs to give Tiger a good shake and say WTF. Stop thinking so much about your game and do what comes natural.
  19. I'm with Tarheel on this one. Merita white bread, Dukes mayo and fresh ripe tomatoes w/S and P and a tall glass of southern iced tea. Dad and I doin a garden this year. Grape tomatoes for salads, Romas for sauce and Better Boys for sandwiches. One slice covers a piece of bread. If you like Grilled cheese, try a thin slice of tomatoe and a thin slice of onion on it, prepare as usual. UUMMM hard to beat. Big D
  20. Just to set the record straight my handle was Bigdnfay without the 1. When the forum made the change over a few ago had all kinds of issues signing in so I changed it to Bigdnfay1. Before the change I had 278 posts. Still not the many thousands of posts some of you have. I guess I am a man of few words. I do visit and read everyday. Big D
  21. I joined this forum in Sept/2001. Seen lots of members come and go. I have noticed a pattern over the years. It"s usually a little slow in the summertime. Just an observation. Big D
