  1. This hobby is going to break me. A few weeks ago picked up a pair of F-3's for $200. This week at the same place I picked up a pair of Hereseys(hbr year W) for $200. A little banged up but I think it was worth it. That makes 3 pair that I don't really need. Just can't help myself....Audio Anonymous anyone? Big D
  2. Fayetteville,NC 3-way/GM-450PB/JBL 2445/2404 Passive
  3. Picked up this pair of F3 at the pawn shop for $100 ea. How'd I do?
  4. I've been using JBL2445's on Goldwood 450's and 2404's on my Jub clones in a 3-way format and have been very happy so far. Big D
  5. This is the goldwood horn. I've used Selenium 405,P-audio BM-D750 and now Jbl 2445 with good results. The horn is well built and durable. I use a 3-way setup mainly. Have tried it 2-way and the top end needs alittle EQ. Good horn for the money. Big D
  6. It 's funny this thread popped up. Just yesterday I was loading my pickup at Sam's club and a van pulls up behind me with offers of a real cool home theater set-up. I Just laughed and said "NO THANKS".
  7. Just a thought, how about constructing a unit from plywood and threaded rod supported from your angle iron. or hang it using eye hooks. That way if your not using it, it can be removed easily.
  8. I have a couple of k-31's lying around and was wondering if changing out the k-22's in my Hereseys might have any benefit. Any thoughts? Big D
  9. In my house all power for baths and kitchen are run thru a GFI. You may want to check them all(if you have them). Big D
  10. Just let me start by saying that I have never heard factory Jubs in person, so my opinion may differ from others(don't flame me to bad). Several years ago when I built my clones my intention was to go 3-way($). I had a few emails back and forth with Al about using his ES networks for my project and he said there may be issues. Not knowing all the nuiances of the Jub at that time,(keep in mind I'm no expert) I went with the ES 700/7500. Since then I have tried several woofers and mids settling on the K-31, JBL 2445H and the JBL 2404. To my ears this combo with the ALK ES sounds wonderful. After reading all the posts about active XO's I picked up an Ashly XR-1001 stereo 2-way. After getting it all jacked in and adjusted I was expecting a jaw dropping result. Now I know this unit dosen't have all the bells and whistles(EQ,time delay, etc.) that some others do but I thought it would give me an idea of the difference between active and passive. Now it could be the horn and driver I'm using(Goldwood PB-450, jbl 2445)but I didn't get the result I thought I would. Don't get wrong, they sound good(to my ears). After 2 weeks I put my passives back in and I got the sparkle back. Other options, Behringer, K-402's, better mid drivers,Jub specific passives, all cost $. For what it's worth, these have been some of my struggles to obtain nirvana. Big D
  11. I embedded 2 metal rods into my grill frame to match the front angles. My 2 cents. Big D
  12. OK ...Now I'm starving. All mentioned are good eats. Come on New Years Day. Big D
  13. I used the 450ti drivers in my jub clones and really liked them. They have good grunt and the upper mids are very nice. They're just a little lacking on the top end.( guess I just like some sparkle) Just as a mid range they should do fine. I've used p-audio 750's and am currently using jbl 2445. You can find all these at a reasonable price. Big D
  14. I'm currently using a 3802 and just recently purchased an xpa-2 and 3. All I can say is do it. Prices are right during the holiday sale. Trust me you will hear a difference and your speakers will sing like never before. Darrell
  15. I should have asked this question before I had this t-shirt made up.
  16. Bruce, That would be fine with me. I can't even find my copy. Darrell
  17. I cloned a pair of 74 khorns several years ago. What I found was all the wood you can see (front, top, bottom) were 3/4' and all the internal works were 1/2'. D
  18. seti, I striped a single belle that was white from the factory. Lucky for me there was walnut underneath and I got a real good result. I also have a pair of mid 80's Heresys that are black. I wanted to refinish them as well but the edges are butt joined not mitered, I would have to veneer them. Darrell
