  1. I have a Panasonic plasma television that was purchased in November of 2003. I use it for mostly HD signal broadcast with the random DVD and I have not noticed a decline in the quality or brightness levels of this display.
  2. I built my dedicated theater 6 years ago and I have struggled with a stand for my RC-7 and never quite found the one that would work for my needs and taste. Fast forward to 10 days ago and I developed a concept purchased the materials and went to work creating the new stand. My particular setup required the stand to be 27" in height so I decided to go with a top plate of 27" x 14" with a base of 32" W x 20" D. Two 8 foot 2 x 4's, two 6 foot 1x4's for the trim,1 x 12's for the pedestal and a 24"x48" furniture grade plywood cut to size for the bottom deck, wood screws, finishing nails, primer and paint all from Lowes Home Improvement. With the beefy way I built this stand I believe I could park my Jeep on this stand so it does a fine job of holding the RC.I altered the photo over to Black and White to show greater detail. I am not a carpenter by trade as you can tell but I do have just enough knowledge and power tools to be dangerous.
  3. In previous post I have seen the Dean G mod reference more than a few times and I appreciate your advice. Could you tell me the degree of difficulty of removing the crossovers and what I can expect as far as sound quality differences?
  4. My current setup is RF 7's, RC 7 with RS 52's, RW12 with an in-ceiling for my center rear which is two-channel = 7.1. I have a Yamaha RX/v 1000 receiver as a Pre and Aragon 2007 for the power. This is inside of a dedicated room 13' x 22' and is 70 percent movie 30 percent music. I have had different setups in this room with the Aragon 200 x 7 amp being the newest replacement of an Adcom 125 x 7 amp which made a noticeable difference in the overall sound quality. Now that we have the setup in clear focus here are my thoughts and question. Again my statement would be that the sound quality and ceiling are enjoyable but being a 30 some-odd year audiophile that I am always looking for sound Utopia. Would the Reference series Klipsch front array be better served with a more powerful amp x 3 leaving the Aragon to power the remaining channels? I have seen a mention of an Emotiva 3 channel amp that seems to be popular among the collective wisdom here on the board. I am not really looking to spend additional money to remain the same but if maybe I should be looking for a better way to utilize my current setup that work work also. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
  5. After moving the settings around this weekend this is my current setup that gives me good quality deep bass and mid's. The front 3 channels now are set to LARGE, the LFE signal being split or placed in the BOTH position and the crossover at 60. What I had failed to mention in previous post is that I split the LFE signal between the RW12 and a Jamo amp that powers the transducers mounted under the seats of my theater. I am not certain that this has changed the way the room sounds overall but I was willling to trade off some of the bass for the rumble of the seats.
  6. I took your guys advice on the speaker size selection moving the front 3 channels to the SML setting. I then moved the Sub crossover point to 80 and I am pleased with the result so far with movies as well as music. Up until recently I had an Arcam AVP 700 as the processor but it lost a channel and needs a repair. I went with my old tried and true RX-V 1000 Yamaha coupled with my Aragon 2007 Amp as a backup and I have to say that I am very pleased with the 1000 as a Pre. The setup as referenced above has given my dedicated theater (13.6 wide by 22 long) a much deeper soundfield which I felt was lacking.
  7. In my setup I have RF 7's an RC 7 center with a RW 12 along the frontline. When performing your speaker setup, do you choose the SWR, MAIN or BOTH option? I have historically chosen the Sub only option but have been wondering if the (2) 10's in the RF's should be used more in the theater setup. Also, do you leave the power switch of the Sub in the ON position or the AUTO position? I am somewhat curious to find a sampling of the collective wisdom choose to do in these situations.
  8. I currently have a system that consist of RF-7's RC-7 RW-12 with RS 62 surrounds. I currently power the system with an Aragon 2007 Amp (200x7) with an Arcam Pre. I am overall satisfied with the sound quality and quantity but I wonder what I could do with an Adcom Amp (125x7) that is laying around collecting dust. I am not familiar enough in bi-wiring or bi-amp setups but wonder if the Adcom could power just the RF-s and what gain would I appreciate. Would I somehow bridge the amp for the 2 fronts? these are the questions that I seek answers to from the collective wisdom.
  9. Thanks Youthman I like the Dinosaur ones but I especially like the Foster's can one the best. When I purchased the RF's and RC a few years ago the dealer had a center stand for his display that for visual reference was a flat plate on bottom and top and the upright was in a solid X shape with a black finish. Very cool and when I inquired the origins he had said it came from Klipsch but not sure that was accurate. Thanks again
  10. Is the only function to support the RC-7, or do you need it to house equipment or cd's/dvd's? What kind of dimensions do you need it to be? James I need it to be purely a center speaker stand and dimension wise it would need to be 20 to 22 inches minus the speaker. Thanks for the reply
  11. I have been struggling with the current center speaker stand in my HT and would like some ideas. I built one that has been useful for the past 4 years but I would like to build something unusual but functional and would like some advice from the collective wisdom. I am fairly capable with basic wood cutting and screw and nail type projects and can probably build it myself providing that it is of the wood variety. Thanks
