  1. I'm a five year quitter of Copenhagen, that is after 14 years of chewing, and I still miss it every day. It truly is the Devils bane...however I have four boys of my own and decided in mid pinch to quit and have never touched it since, now if I do happen to get cancer at least I can say I tried, and I can go to my grave a man instead of feeling like a coward who was too afraid to quit.
  2. The RF-3's have plenty of bottom end, I used a pair in a rc-3,rs-3,rf-3, ksw12 & ksw15 setup for about four years. Strong point of the system was the RF-3's. They have plenty of bottom end, when I would toggle the sub on and off, I found the sub didn't really add for music, as the rf-3's held their own. The only time I'd use a sub for music was when I was listening to something REALLY bass heavy. Weak point of the system was the RC-3, and you wont really know just how weak it is until you hear an RC-7. Major improvement. I'm all about timber matching, and would do it at all costs! I also recommend that you at least try a pair of towers as surrounds instead of your rs-3's. If your listening preferences are like mine you just may be pleasantly surprised.
  3. rlr267, you have a pm from me, my amps would do everything you want, on a budget that you could afford, pm me and I'll price these the best I can for you. Apologies to the OP for posting a sale ad here[:$], hope you find what you want bud.
  4. I'll put this up for you and anyone else who might be interested here on the klipsch forum that is reading this, I have three Kenwood KM-208's for sale, all have been gone through and updated/fixed as necessary, I wouldn't sell anything that is less than perfect. 150 watts x2, capable of driving 4 speakers, split a channel with a y adapter and bi-wire your speakers and you would have an effectiv 300watt monoblock. I've been using them with good results to drive RF-7's. I put them up on ebay just cause they had a special .20cent listing day and thought I'd put them up for the heck of it. Even though I put some money into these with the updates, I'm buying an emotiva. Price is 150.00 each plus shipping, but for a forum member wanting to purchase all three I'll make a special price, contact me at rushisrighton@yahoo.com if interested.[]
  5. What a great day today was!!!! I went out to see the Khorns and they are beautifull, very very very well taken care of, a 9 out of 10, with only trivial nicks. The owner was a very nice younger gentleman, whos dad was the original owner. We talked awhile, he is in the airforce, and was stationed up here and didn't want them anymore. After a few negotiations, we shook hands and loaded up the khorns which I am now a very proud owner of!!!! Of course I will play good samaratin, however, who ever said I was going to pick them up cheap? The guy knew what they were worth, I was just super excited that there was even one for sale in my area!! I live in North Dakota for crying out loud, nothing good ever comes through here, and to top it all off, he was only a couple of miles away! I've been a klipsch fan for many years now, and this is the first pair I've ever seen or even heard mention of in ND. I consider my time with them an honor, and hope to break even on them, or at least not cost me too much, that's why I wanted to know the least amount that they were worth, so that my wife wouldn't kill me for spending a fortune. Believe me, these were worth every penny, they look like they are in better shape than the ones on audiogon. Let's just be happy that they are back in the hands of a klipsch fan loyalist, instead of in a garage. I think a few guys got excited that they might get a pair really cheap, sorry not the case. But if there are any good samaratins out there, I would really like a sim audio titan[], pretty please!! I love the Khorns, they are beautifull and sound like heaven, I will post pics, as soon as I can stop looking at the khorns, which might be a while. BTW, I have dial up, and the new forums are terrible to navigate, that's why I haven't been back here very often, I spend most of my time on the avs forum now. So when I get my pics up, they will be over there.
  6. At the very least, what could they be worth? I really have no idea on pricing these, I'm going to be buying these tomorrow, & there is just not enough time for me to make an informed purchase, also what would you guys recommend for me to look at when I'm checking these out? I emagine it's getting pretty late in the evening for any responses, so I'll check back in the morning.
  7. I have an opportunity that may never come around again for me to purchase a set of 1980 KHORNS, however I have no need for them because they will be too big for my room and I allready have RF-7's. What I need help on is pricing them for sale, or if any of you guys are interested give me your best offer, I will ship anywhere, just don't know how much to ask for, I checked audiogon but aren't those prices a little high or are they reasonable? If you want them, let me know. They are in pretty good shape. I'm going out to get them tomorrow, I believe they are oak. Please help guys!!!
  8. It's great to finally be reading about HD-dvd, versus speculating when & how. I'm more excited about the audio end of things. How does it SOUND? I'm sure the picture is great, but is it beyond say what a good dvd player & a dvdo vp30 can produce? I only ask this because it is such a new, 1st gen. player. But if it looks & sounds better than the end results of dvd which we currently have, then this is truly promising news for what to expect another player generation from now.
  9. I'm wondering if any of you guys have heard/seen this amp and what your impressions of it were. My latest hunt has been for an amp to drive my 6 rf-7's and I cannot seem to get my mind off of a Rotel 1090/1095 combo, but this amp seems intrieguing. I tried calling gemstone, tried twice but no answer. Mighta caught them at lunch. I see that they are manufacturing in canda, just wondering where, and if they have a storefront/facility somewhere. Anyone know anything about these amps?, seems they've been around for a while, I just hadn't heard of them before.
  10. Please see my post in the subwoofer section, I have the item description in there. Thanks!
  11. Please see my add also in www.avsforum.com in the speakers and subs for sale section. If you are ready to upgrade that 10" or even 12" sub and are in the 400.00 price range, look no further this is it!!!! Even better, if you are just starting to build your first system than this is definently a deal tailored for YOU! I am the original owner, purchased from my local authorized klipsch dealer. No smoking household (kid with asthma), VERY low hours on my 15" sub, I had a 12" also that was right next to my listening position and I was too lazy to walk over and turn on the 15" which I had in the corner, this was the sub that I would turn on only for thos "special" movies. Less than 30 hours on the sub I'm estimating, I rarely used it & only for movies as I don't listen to music in the house, really only in the car. This sub is in excellent condition, not even broken in I would say. Now for the good part, for my forum buddies I'm gonna include with this sub a NEW radio shack digital spl meter, (opend but never used), a dvd of digital video essentials (NTSC component version) so you can set up that DD, DTS system the right way!!, a dvd of the Matrix Reloaded (full screen) so you got some good "boom" material, a Monster cable Y adapter, and a monster cable RCA Subwoofer cable. (I was debating wether to include the cable as while I was putting this package together I broke off one of the teeth on the turbine, but since I'm giving it away I thought I'd include it anyway, should be fine, worked when I disconnected it but I'll let your common sence be the judge). Plus I plan to slip a little extra surprise in there for the lucky buyer. and wait.......I'll even split pay pal fees with you! Price is 399.99, actual shipping charges apply, but not a penny more than what it costs to ship. I'll split pay pal fees with you! If you want to see pics, go to my site at www.photo.epson.com and type in rushisrighton@yahoo.com in the guest area for whos album you'd like to view. OR go to the avs forum at www.avsforum.com and check out my add in the for sale section, over there I go by rushisrighton and click on the link in my signature. Any questions let me know, these subs bring quite a little on Ebay, and if I go that route I'm not going to include any of the extras and the last one I saw brought 380.90 and that's without shipping or paypal fees so this should be an excellent deal for those wishing to upgrade, OH BTW, why am I selling? Because I upgraded to dual svs pc-ultras and a velodyne sms-1, 3000 dollars worth of subwoofers to replace my 700.00 Klipsch ksw15 sub! yeah baby! Thanks you Klipsch fans!!
  12. Thanks again, that's better thank looking at a little red x[]
  13. I just requested a folder so I could put some pics up, we still have to request a folder right? I also put in a request on the "what would you change about this forum" to be able to put a link in my signature so people could click on it and be directed to my pics, that would be alot easier, and way more user friendly. I'm pretty new to the whole picture thing and still use dial up so it's kind of a pain. Now if I could only figure out where you guys find your avatars!!
  14. I guess I would like a folder also. Thanks
  15. BTW, Dr. who you've said exactly what I think, it's just that you put it so much better than I ever could have.....and Room acoustical treatments are the first and foremost things currently on my mind, I'm slowly learning, I don't want to go throwing up a bunch of foam and insulation all over the place without haveing a pretty good idea of what I'm doing. I've got a pretty good grasp on the basics, I just need to come up with ways of makeing it look good enough to pass the wife's standards. But when it come to the HT stuff, I usually have the biggest say of what goes into the room. That was another reason I didn't go with the thx's, I felt the RF-7's would have been a little easier for me to set up since this is a family room and not a dedicated theater, plus I don't consider myself to be a guru of HT, and felt the references would be more than enough for me, it took a long time to save up for these and by being able to purchase them used I got alot of bang for the buck that I could've never gotten with the thx's because you just don't see them used like you do the reference's.
  16. The rxv 757 Yamaha will only be around until I figure out which amps I want, and then after that, will be replaced with a processor after hdmi, hd-audio & blu-ray are somewhat stable. It was a temporary purchase to passify me until I can get what I want, how I want it. The technology just isn't quite there for me yet. Short list of possabilites are aragon (amps), rotel, outlaw, sunfire, sim audio, EAD(amps) etc. Reccomendations aren't necessary, it'll be a while and should be in a different thread anyway. I do not think for one minute that I would spank a thx setup, and in many respects, it would probably be the other way around. I wish I could have both setups, but alas there can only be one. I know one thing for sure, home theater on my setup is surreal, as I'm sure it is on a thx setup. I don't really care if one is better than the other, I only wanted to know if they would compare on the same scale. I love my rf-7's, they aren't going anywhere. I am sure there are alot of shortcomings to the reference's that were addressed with the thx's, it truly was a very smart way of handleing a perfect HT situation, I think Klipsch got it right in alot of ways with the thx's. But they'll never look as good as my reference's do.
  17. Just curious, how would my rf-7 setup compare to the thx ultra2 setup? I have rf-7's all the way around except for the center channel which is an rc-7, 2 svs pc-ultra subs with sms-1 eq. 1 thing I know it has over mine is the matching center channel, and since there isn't a setup of the ultra around my area, how would you compare it to an rf-7 setup such as what I have? There are 2 reasons I didn't go with the ultra-2, one was that there isn't much on the used market, and I like to be frugal. The second is that I prefer the looks of the rf-7 setup over the ultra 2 speakers hands down, any day!!! I'm just wondering if the ultra 2 setup is waaaay better, or is comparable to the rf-7's and both would sound good. Or is what I have probably better than an ulta 2 setup? Anybody have any opinions on this?
  18. Man I love the looks of ROTEL gear, I've gotta get me some too!
  19. A subwoofer does not have to be of the same make as the speaker, I like Klipsch, but do yourself a favor if this is the route you go, and check out SVS subwoofers! Add a sub and you will get the biggest upgrade easily!
  20. I think it's time we start a support group, 9:00 saturday night, my place. Bring your speakers and electronics and I will dispose of them for you so you can start the healing process.
  21. The buttkicker is all it is says it is and more, used properly it will take HT to a new level and it is great for gaming also! It's something you have to experience for yourself, but I do not know of anyone who has bought one and hasn't loved it. Buy one and don't look back. Better yet, stop by and check mine out when you are in the area.
  22. Oh no! Klipsch got to you too!!!!! It seems to be an epidemic around here! This is the best Speaker Transmitted Disease I've ever gotten though.
  23. I have a gusdorf stand, I don't here much mention of their stands anywhere but I have one for my tv and one for my audio rack. Alot less expensive than bello, and the looks are very upscale. The tv one houses my tv my rc-7 and my velodyne sms-1 on seperate racks below my tv. They have one for small tv's (mine) and they have the identical one for large tv's that would fit yours. If you want to look at the one I have search for me on the avs forum, my handle is rushisrighton, and check out my system in my signature.
