  1. I am still having issues with my promedia 5.1 system. I had the amp replaced and am still getting scratchy audio; no bass either from sub. Sounds horrible!. Please someone out there help me solve this!
  2. can anyone out there help me out with this? I sent my volume control pod for the 5.1 promedia system to a authorized service center for klipsch and I was gonna have them look at it but the owner told me to to try disconnecting the 3 cables(center/sub, left, right, etc) and see if i get the high pitched noise to stop. Well i did that; I disconnected all 3 and I still got the high pitched noise even with the 3 cables disconnected. So Im not sure if its the control pod itself or if its the amp. I did take the amp to a guy down the street who repaired this amp before for me to have him look at it but he said he could not find anything wrong other than maybe the inside of the control pod being dirty so I believe he took it apart and cleaned it out etc. But that did not seem to get rid of the noise. So does anyone out there know if this is a amp issue or something else? Please help me out here as its driving me nuts and I just want to try and get rid of this issue. Thanks Matt
  3. can anyone out there shed light on my last post? does this sound like a resistor(s) or capacitor(s) that have possibly gone bad? I did decide to take my amp to the guy down the street that has done work for me before to see if he can figure out what is happening but so far he said it is working but i told him otherwise that whenever i turn it on i get that squeeling/humming.
  4. I too have been having a issue with my 5.1 system. it recently developed a squeeling/humming sound when I first turn the system on which point you can barely hear any audio coming from the speakers; but eventually goes away once I start playing a youtube video. Now does this sound like a amp issue, a speaker(s) issue, or control pod issue? and if anyone thinks its a control pod issue; where in the wolrd could I find a replacement? I hope i dont have to take it to the guy ive had my amp repaired from before down the street where i had to shell out 80 bucks for parts and labor to get some issues taken care of because I really cant afford that right now. Thanks to anyone that can give more info on this.
  5. I dont know if it happens before windows has a chance to start up completely but am thinking it probably does; however after awhile the high pitched noise goes away. however now I am not getting full surround audio. I am not getting audio from my 2 front and center speakers. But thats a whole different issue; and the sound that i am getting is not coming from the correct speakers.
  6. I am getting a high pitched noise every time I turn on my control pod for my klipsch promedia ultra 5.1 speaker setup. I just updated my sound card drivers thinking that was the issue but no its not. I am not getting audio from my 2 front speakers or my center speaker. Does this sound like a amp issue, a control pod issue or something else? I just had a part of the amp repaired last year to the tune of 80 bucks because I do not have the soldering skills etc. nor the steady hands to do it and wondered if its possible that another part of the amp has gone bad again and that it needs repair?
  7. Well; I just turned on my promedia 5.1 volume/sub/speaker controller and I was getting a high pitched whining sound. I have windows 10 on my system now; but when i ran windows 7 I never had this issue. Could this be a software issued related to my sound card which is a sound blaster x-fi titanium pci express sound card? or something else that is amp related? Are there any "experts" out there on these forums that can shed some more light on this one with ideas for me to check? And how could I take the volume knob apart and even better take the whole controller apart and clean and dust out the insides of it with a air can and some electronics cleaner?
  8. Well; I just hope its not a sign of my amp going bad because Ive already had the amp repaired a couple of times at least and it wasnt cheap to get it fixed. So if anyone else has any ideas that would be great on this one. However; if i have a chance i will call klipsch tomorrow(monday) morning my time(arizona) and see what they can make of it.
  9. Anyone?...........anyone? can anyone shed light on this one?
  10. It seems like every time i turn on my klipsch promedia 5.1 speaker controller; I get a high pitched humming noise; and then every time i try to play a video off of youtube; I get very low pitched crackling sound which eventually after cranking the volume up a bit goes to full normal sound after a bit of time. . Now is this a sign of a bad circuit(s) in my klipsch promedia amp; or a bad controller; or what else am I looking at here? thanks Matt
  11. Oh yes; i know about the fan kit; but I dont have the very careful soldering skills it takes to install all the parts in that 49 dollar kit as i dont have steady enough hands to do it. I will though probably get the simpler to install kit that us more novice people can install. Plus that one is cheaper. I really should get that 49 dollar kit just so i have the parts for the future but i dont have the funds right now for it. I have to wait til after november 3rd to do it. I do know that the heat can cause a problem for the circuit boards and will address that issue once i get more available funds to do it. I definitely plan on getting at least the fan kit though. As far as them not making the 5.1 or possibly a 7.1 system; I still think it would be worth it for them to take a chance on making the promedia 5.1 system again as its been very popular with people because of the sound quality and the deep deep bass the sub produces.
  12. I have conversed with Henry(stpeteshepard) via ebay several times last week about the same issues and he didnt say anything about the circuit boards; but; he did say he could fix the amp. However; i have my local guy who has done work for me before on it fixing the amp. It apparently needs a new driver board as i mentioned before. But that aside I had considered sending the amp to him to look at; but in the end it would just cost too much to send it to him i think
  13. Also; does anyone know if there are any aftermarket companies out there that still make replacement circuit boards and the speakers for the sub itself? I tried doing a search on google but did not really find much of anything in the way of results for driver boards, etc.
  14. I too; really, really wish they would start making the promedia 5.1 surround with huge sub/amp for computers again. I hate the fact that they stopped making them awhile ago. Ive had my promedia system for about 10 years approx. when the system works the way its suppose to; its excellent. But within the past couple weeks Ive had issues with my amp cutting in and out; so i took it to a local guy who did some work on it for me in the past and does excellent work. He tried resoldering all of the connections etc. on the amp boards; however; that only worked temporiairly as the sub would still cut out. He figured out it was the "driver" board that was the issue and luckily for me; his supplier only had 1 brand new one left; but ouch he wants 50 bucks for it; but I know that its a heck of a lot cheaper to fix it than it is to buy a whole new system. I really truly wish we as consumers of klipsch products could get as many people as possible to try and convince klipsch to start making the 5.1 promedia system again. Maybe start posting are huge want for such a system again in a forum that the people in design and engineering at klipsch may look at to see that there are so many people out there that liked the promedia 5.1 system and that they really should go back to producing it again; even if that does mean producing it overseas.
  15. Ok, heres the problem I am having: suddnely within the past I would say the past 2-3 weeks; the sound went out on my center channel speaker. So, I called klipsch tech support and they told me to test the sound card by plugging a pair of headphones into each of the connectors that the 3 cables plug into on the back of the sound card where the center/sub cable, right rear and left, and front left and right cables plug into. Well, I did this, and I get full, vibrant sound from the front left and right speakers, but the sound coming from the rear left and right speakers is kinda faint and is not as loud as it should be, and then when I tested the center channel plug, I was not getting any sound at all. Tech support told me that this is most likely the cause of a partially bad sound card. Can someone Verify this for me and reply asap, thanks. Also, this is on approx. a 4 1/2 year old Dell Dimension XPS desktop with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS sound card that is definitely 5.1 enabled. Thanks for any info anyone can give me.
