  1. Yup! There ebay name is ronco21. I ordered an rt-10D from them. It rocks. The packaging was the best I have ever seen. I am not sure if the extra cardboard helps either, but damn, they took the time to do it. Opening it was a *****. You seem to be on the same wavelength here. Check out the stands I made for my RS-62's~ http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/125027.aspx Cheers At least it worked out for both of us.
  2. Thank you. the pics are a bit crappy b/c I used a wide angle lens. They look a lot nicer in person(you can see all the grain as well as all the edges I routed). I spent 3 good weeks on these (of spare time). I am pretty happy with them. I might end up screwing a larger base onto them when I move out, but I can worry about that later. The other thing I have to do is route a line for the speaker wire to fit in on the base/top. I worked three weeks though, and I wanted to see the results. Know what I'm saying?
  3. Hi end also claimed I broke both speakers. They said that I should have opened the boxes in front of the delivery man and if it was broken, refuse shipment. How can I open the package before accepting shipment? Also, from my experience, I am thinking this user/ring has some good legal advice. They know how paypal and ebay works. They know the contracts. I learned my lesson, but paypal was nice enough (because I was nice enough) to find the info needed to force a claim. Some of the people there do care. Please be nice, respectful and treat them like people. They are American, I can assure you. They will understand what you are going through and will do whatever they can to fix it. If you are an *** however, they will treat you like the enemy. Phone calls are harder to ignore than e-mails. What I would do in your shoes is try calling paypal/ebay. Make sure you get a manager(nicely). Explain it all, but try not to accuse to much. The manager I spoke to was extremely helpful and assured me hi end would be watched closer. She also made the refund happen. We talked for two hours like I said about this company, what I could do, life stories, and the like. The more people that complain, the less wiggle room hi end has before they get kicked. Something else I found out from the manager-most power sellers have a paypal rep. If paypal presses enough on the rep the seller will usually give a refund (under the table of course). You NEED to call them to make that happen.
  4. Where they from green bay? I ordered from a green bay company that shipped just like you described. I was impressed.
  5. items required: miter saw/tablesaw/skillsaw (if you are that good...the miter is recommended though), router (w/bits and a table for it doesn't hurt as well as a plunge attachment), wood, copper tubing, a lot of time, wood dowel pins, wood glue, drill(w/bits), tube cutter/metal grinder, planner/belt sander, sand paper (a hand sander never hurts), stain, clear coat, at least 4 clamps, a square, a level, a ruler, a shop vac is helpful (don't want to piss off the women), a radio to pass the time, a few cases of beer, and somewhere to do it all. I'd be happy to take more pics and explain it all I went screw-less and glued all of the pieces. Everything is done with pegs and glue. That is what took so long. It would be a lot faster if you sunk screws and added a cap. This is the first piece of home furniture I've made, so I wanted to do it the hard way. I have made a picnic table, but that's about it. Carpentry is not my thing, but I am getting there. *things with "/" are alternatives. For example, I recommend a miter saw but you could pull it off with a skillsaw if you're awesome. Things in "()" are suggestions. The beer is mandatory.
  6. I sanded them down and added a clear coat. This gave them the same brushed look as the cones and it removed the discoloration/brand name.
  7. I heard from you on e-bay I think. I took apart one of the speakers that I recieved and the cone was completely seperated from the magnet (aka the basket broke). I think dropping the speaker on one end will cause the damage. They are heavy suckers. After a horrible experience just like yours on ebay, I decided to order an RC-62. It arrived flawless. As for the ebay seller you are referring to, I had other problems with them al well. It took over three weeks to recieve my surrounds. My fronts came in fine. I ordered my sub elsewhere. I will never buy from that seller again. He put me through hell for two months trying to get a refund. As for me, I had the same problems with paypal. Paypal origonally denied my claim because of how shady the return address was and the seller wouldn't respond to say he recieved the speaker. So Paypal declined my claim. This is where being nice gets you far. I called paypal and went through 2 people before I got a manager. She told me there was nothing she could do because of paypal policy, but gave me a lot of suggestions. We talked for about two hours (it was a nice conversation really), and after it was all done I got an e-mail saying she mysteriously found some information that would allow the claim to be processed! So words of wisdom....treat paypal nice and they will be your friends.
  8. So I am temporarily living at home before I go back to school. Mounting 30lb RS-62's to drywall didn't float my parents boat, so I decided to make 5ft stands! I figure I can use them when I move into my appartment, so I decided to go all out. They are very stable/heavy, solid oak with a square tops and bottoms. There are four legs in an X pattern centered around a copper tube to run the speaker wire through. I think they match the speakers pretty well. What do you think?
  9. So, I just got in my surrounds. I had an old pair of stands, but they wont work with these. I also have drywall, so I wont be hanging . Anyone have a good suggestion for rs-62 stands?
  10. Yeah fedex. At least it was insured. I already have the rf-82's. I am waiting on the surrounds and the sub. I hope they survive their journey. I bet the FedEx man hates me. He is a small guy and he has problems lifting. I could see him just kicking the box because it is so heavy. Well, when it is piced together I'll let you know how it sounds. So far the towers are great. I'm not used to speakers having that much bass by themselves; it really made my day.
  11. Damn. My RC-64 came in today and one of the speker cones is completely seperated from the coil/magnet. Sigh...I guess I will have to wait longer for the complete experience.
  12. Will this be a good combination for a 15*20 room? What reciever should I go with? I was thinking of getting onkyo tx-sr876... RF-82's RC-64 (or should I go with the 62?) RS-62's RT-10D
