  1. try posting the same thing in the 5.1 forum, you may also want to contact klipsch as that is a common problem with the 5.1s
  2. Well as soon as I get my replacement unit from klipsch I will run the same tests , and show the same graphs as well as a really long review on the system as promised.
  3. This is the Chart for those people interested. See attachement.
  4. I have completed some frequency charts for the original promedia 5.1 sub, and all I can say is , WOW. It is alot flatter than I thought it would be( at least for a PEASEA SPEAKER SUB). I used SpectraPLUS FTT Spectral Analysis System Software Radioshack Digital dB Meter ( max output settings / c weighting / response fast ) NCH Tone Generator. Here are my results thus far: @ 1 meter from port, no distortion or port noise. At a Reference of 90 dB at 100 Hz the sub remained flawless from 100 hz all the way down to 36 Hz remained almost perfectly FLAT +/- 2-3 db. which is quite unbelievable for a mulimedia sub. Very impressive indeed. At 30 Hz it was down 5 db from the reference point. At 25hz it was down 11 dB not makeing that frequency very usefull unless doing single tone tests. or watching dvds at insane volume levels. If the Pm.5'1s gave these results, I can just imagine what numbers the ultra will bring. Flat bass from the 5.1's, im floored. ( this is not takeing into account room acoustic since it was measured one meter from port.)
  5. THANK YOU SO MUCH WITH that graph its JUST what I was looking for! Really appreciated. Actually as soon as my Ultra set comes in I will be doing a detailed comparison review between the two sets. uncluding: Various different types of music and selected peices (about 2 of each music type plus many DVDs: Mp3 / CD Testing Foobar2000 and Winamp 2.9 beta2 Input: MAD Plug-in 0.14.2b Output: Waveout 2.02a SSRC Games Used For Testing: Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 Battlefield 1942 / Desert Combat Quake 3: Arena Warcraft 3 Breakdown of each game and how the sound compared to each other and similarly priced systems And of course DVD Testing, with: CyberLink's Power DVD 5 I will also include numbers and charts of freq resp. for the two systems. It should be about 7-8 pages in length when all said and done, without any useless background and extensive specsheets etc. It will be mostly subjective tests I'll post a link when its all uploaded , thanks to Justin for hosting it. Any feedback after its posted would be greatly appreciated, Thanks again! Ed
  6. ---------------- On 10/10/2003 7:57:37 PM TheEAR wrote: To keep this thread going(a la Hofy)... WOW you maxed a Rat Shack SPL meter with a multimedia sub! LOL Try to max the meter at 31.5Hz,listening position then we will talk. Try to best 110dB at 20Hz,always listening position. Until then a PeaSee "sub" is just a PeaSee sub. ---------------- Well EAR , LIKE i said before Thats impossible, of course its a PEASEE SUB!. You have to admit just being able to do those numbers that not bad for a PEASEE sub, when compareing to the competition which can barely break 110dB at the same frequency! And you still haven't answered my question on how you think the ultra sub will compare to some cheaper HT subs:P
  7. Pretty simple really: Radioshack Digital dB Meter ( max output settings / c weighting / response fast ) BTW: THE meter maxes out at 126dB and during the "booms" it was peaking over the 126 number without actually giving me the number so my estimate is slightly over 126 dB maybe 1 or 2 dB higher The sub was placed inside my closet with the doors open PM THX 5.1 Subwoofer: Before Distortion/ Port Noise is in (Brackets) 26.37 Hz @ ( 84 dB ) 90 dB @ optimal listening position(other corner) / 101 dB @ 1m peak SPL (close to closet) 41.02 Hz @ ( 104 dB ) 107 dB @ optimal listening position(other corner) / 115 dB @ 1m peak SPL (close to closet) the 53.83 Hz number was for a short burst and it really did hurt my ears. (this is the freq the sub can play loudest.) (the 126 db number is not real world usage obviously as you would burn the amp in 2 minutes- also if i put it louder it was reaching voice coil limits/excursion) Nevertheless? if that 5.1 sub can do 84 dB usable at 26.37 Hz imageine what the ultra can do considering its a mulimedia sub I dont think thats too bad!
  8. although extremely off topic, someone made a reference to the 5.1 promedia sub earlier! I thought i would share my results with you MAX SPL in a small room with a 53.83 Hz generated test tone small room in an optimal corner with a sub loaded in my closet i was able to get over 126 db from my radioshack meter Although its a joke compared to these subs you all talk about, im sure it would cause smoke and fire if i left it for more than a minute! not bad for a PEE SEE speaker eh EARS??!!! by the way im very curious to hear your impressions of the new 5.1 ultra sub for its price/performance I heard it was designed by the klipsch reference team cheeerS!
  9. "Last came the Aerial SW12,this sub was the most linear of them all, solid to 20Hz!And using a 12" woofer(on the small side compared to the 15" in the B15 and 18" in the Velo)" Thats very interesting, some good results theEAR. I would like to know more about this sub I did a search on google but didnt come up with too much other than user reviews. Do you have to order those from the states or do they ship them to canada? And for the price is it one of the better bargains out of these large beasts?
  10. TITAN A.E. ICE CRYSTAL SCENE: the bass will destroy your house, best and deepest bass ive ever heard on dvd period. FINAL FANTASY as someone already mentioned, this movie is great for showing off. MATRIX Thats just a given :>

  12. THe input going into the speakers is too loud, turn down the volume before it goes into the speaker jack. check this in your manual. I had the same problem , turned down the volume before it got to the speakers and then turn the speakers up loud.. everything should be fine.
  13. from tests that ive dont i belive that the 4.1 is tuned to 53.83 Hz. No clue on the 5.1 sub though ------------------ Download the latest ver. of Klipsch 3d Animation: http://blake.prohosting.com/~swerv/subwoofer4.avi
  14. turn the sub volume to the neutral level, make your winamp EQ flat, also the ACS48 sub cant even come close to reproducing low bass like the klipsch sub, in order to hear the low bass the speaker has to move in and out a lot more so you can actually hear the sound the lower it goes the slower the speakers moves, but the more it moves. The flutter is from the driver moving in and out a lot a low frequencies. klipsch sub has the ability to go to 29Hz Acs would be lucky to go to 40Hz Reproducing 40Hz is a lot easier than 29 Hz especially on a 6.5 inch driver. just know the limits of the sub and it should be fine, also try some different material, could just be that the song had a lot of LF bass below 30Hz.
  15. quote: I play the THX thing, they play in theaters, where it goes low to high. And it sounds fine Actually he is talking about P.E.B Ultimate subwoofer Test which has been renamed to THX - ultimate bass test etc.. its exactly the same file, this one is ment to stress woofers with tones below 20 Hz so i wouldnt be frightend if you hear some port noise. Actually i think your problem is: 1. your sub amp is dieing / broken / or overheated. 2. The crackling sounds could be result of the imput source being too loud. try turning sub volume to min, main volume low, gradually go up until you hear lots of port noise, i wouldnt go past that, try turning you windows volumes down too, or your EQ in winamp mess with the preamp. make sure its flat! that song is definatly NOT meant to be used with an EQ or BASS enhancers of any kind. so leave your sub at neutral and try it again. It might just be that it has to cool off.hope this helps
  16. honestly you make no sense.

  18. great, then you can go and pack your bags too! the last thing this forum needs is more people to whine and complain about klipsch delivering new technology that the "consumers" want. If you dont like klipsch products or the company then dont buy them. Its pretty annoying to see people complain about silly things like that. When Intel releases their new cpu, do you go to intel and ***** to them and ask for some sort of a trade in special or even a refund?? Just live with it. I'm still very happy with my v2.400s. Whenever i have enough money saved up , i'll probably get the new 5.1s (which too me sound like an Excellent value!) comeone people, dual 8 inch in a multimedia speaker system. maybe this one will go really low( (20 Hz)! who knows I can't wait. It also means half a kilowatt RMS of bragging rights.
  19. powerdvd = bad quality sound powerdvd = poor surround powerdvd = horrible phantom center powerdvd = no bass (LFE)
  20. i have an Sb live, a Gf2 mx with tv out , and the v2.400s they sound great in the living room, spent a whole afternoon placeing them now they sound 10x better than the surround sound techniques hometheater package ( with sub) with the gf2 mx u can watch it with Nvidia motion compensation, and on your Tv and monitor at the same time if you want. The one i have has Svid out and composite, they both work well while svid has a sharper image. I also recommend you dump powerdvd and get something thats not useless like windvd or something. powerdvd = bad quality sound powerdvd = poor surround powerdvd = horrible phantom center powerdvd = no bass ------------------ Download the latest ver. of Klipsch 3d Animation: http://blake.prohosting.com/~swerv/subwoofer4.avi This message has been edited by Swerv on 05-29-2001 at 04:36 PM
  21. Paradigm sorry man, you have made the biggest fool of yourself and you haven't even noticed it. FOR THE LAST TIME STOP RAMMING YOUR USESLESS OPINIONS DOWN EVERYONES THROATS!!!! SHEEESH
  22. quote: "quote: from Swerv -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ... but you cant find anything.. so no point in comparing your "over priced" paradigms to the pros, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's one of the most stupidest things I have ever heard, you obviously know nothing about HT speakers to be saying that. Paradigms are the most affordable speakers ever made. When you pay say 400 for a pair of paradigm speakers they are really worth 800. I'm not going to stoop down to your level and call you names nor say you are stupid. Please try to read more carfully next time. What i made clear was for a price of the klipsch pros, which come with 4 sats a sub and amp , cables. The cinema series are way over the price of the pros. You are also saying that most people have and amp sitting next to their pc. ( nice assumption) also I say this in my original message: "if you wanna look for a company to bash, why dont you go over to the Bose forums or something.... they at least have a reason to get flamed for, not klipsch." Then you say: quote: "you might as well buy yourself BOSE speakers cause it seems to me you do not have audiophile ears. Yes go get yourself a pair of paper cone overpriced BOSE speakers I know you will enjoy them. " you know, you should really try to improve your grade 1 reading skills. quote: "Ill tell you what Im basing my opinion on. First off I have heard all the speakers Paradigm has made, second Every high respected audiophile magazine in the world praises Paradigm and declares them the winner. How can other speakers even compete with them" Oh really you've heard every one, is that so? good for you. Every audiophile magazine hun? Wow, thats quite impressive. Please do give me a link to every single magazine that said this. I have some serious reading up to do. No offence paradigm worker, but seems to me like you are in denial. *paradigms mind* ( no no ! it cant be!!! its impossible for there to be speakers better than my paradigms! oh my god!!! ahhhh) Thats all i see going on. I think you have made a fool of your self enough with all of the name calling and insults. You have no facts to back you up than a couple of reviews from some HT magazines. I'm also quite certain every single audiophile magazine does NOT declare paradigm to be the "winner". ------------------ Download the latest ver. of Klipsch 3d Animation: http://blake.prohosting.com/~swerv/subwoofer4.avi

  24. quote: "If you don't have a receiver and your into sound you should get one any ways, believe me you will thank me." who do you think you are honestly? some messiah? Oh we will thank you, we will, once you stop posting and insulting other people. From what ive read so far, EVERYONE MUST CONSULT WITH YOU, BECAUSE YOU ARE THE AUDIO GOD. LETS US ALL BOW DOWN TO YOU AND SEEK ADVICE, PLEASE... OH MASTER , TELL US WHICH PARADIGMS WE MUST BUY. sigh... ------------------ Download the latest ver. of Klipsch 3d Animation: http://blake.prohosting.com/~swerv/subwoofer4.avi
