  2. I run my fronts from A and my sub from B outputs. I also have the sub line level, I don't use the Hi-Pass. I keep the X-Over set low to keep the boominess away. I have a 15 and it sounds tight. I find that the recording sometimes is boomy...the sound can only be as good as the recording. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  3. I like the legends much more than the RF3's. The KSW 10 will never deliver that punch that a 12 or 15 can. If you set a sub up correctly even the 15 will yield a very desirable effect. You can get a sloppy sound out of any sub if it's over driven or placed wrong. The 15 does what 12 or a 10 does with less effort. You should really audition them. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  4. Have you talked to Trey? He helped me out the other day. He would have some insight I'm sure. I haven't had the same problem but if I were I would... 1. Switch speakers (you know, switch your left channel speaker to your right and vice-versa) 2. Remove all sound manipulators...e.g. EQ 3. All tone controls set to 0 4. Run'em hard You see I can't imagine having to run a lightbulb or anything else inline to keep from blowing speakers. You need to find the real problem and fix it. It may be the Carver it may not. I'm not a genius like some of these guys helping you I just think that there is a problem. Call Trey and talk to him about the X-Over, I couldn't tell you how to test the X-Over so I don't even want to try. I discovered I had a bad X-Over by isolating the horn and listening. Then I switched horns and the other horn did the same thing...there are only two things in a speaker that can be bad, a X-Over or the speaker. Unless of course there are unusual components that I'm sure someone will point out to me. I've read this thread and boy you would think that us regulars on the BB could give our suggestions and try to help. Not be a know it all. I'm not saying that I know how to fix it I'm just offering advice from my experience. You might want to borrow another receiver from a friend. I run a CD player, DVD and that's it. Just power and source. I try to keep it clean. A long time ago I ran an EQ and it added a POP in certain passages of certain songs. I traced it to the EQ and eliminated it. I didn't even have it adding anything, all settings were at 0, I just had it in the loop for the spectrum display. ( dancing lights looked neat ) I hope I have helped and not confused or offended anyone. Lets keep this BB a friendly one. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  5. I talked to Trey the other day and he said that there are still dealers who have them. So if I did enough searching from dealer to dealer I'm sure I could find a pair...thing is I already have a pair. Now I am working on KLF 20's and the C7. I'm glad we KLIPSCH owners stick together ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  6. This may sound dumb but here it goes. Has anyone ever considered to check the X-Over to make sure it's doing it's job correctly? A bad X-Over can fry a horn tweeter fast. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  7. I would go with the 30's. They don't run out of room when it comes to sound and if you ever listen to music they are in your face. What type of separates are you using? Have you thought of a center? KLF C7? Do you like it loud? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  8. Are they going to be playing simultaneously? If so I would use another amp. Your receiver has 4 front channels? Or is it an A/B switch and you can enable both of them. That would mean your running 4 pair off of two channels...not ideal. What type of receiver is it? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  9. Yeh but hey it'll all turn out all right. And did you call KLIPCH junk? Even a blown KLIPSCH isn't junk. Keith I already had gotten this pair just before you contacted me.
  10. Well I have rescued a pair of abused CF4's from a dysfunctional home. Paid 800 bucks for them. The cabinets were in bad shape, there were some nicks in the front of the cabinet, 2 woofers were blown, 1 X-Over is junk and they need love. So I have stripped all the drivers and the X-Overs out of both of them. I have to buy 4 new drivers and 2 new X-Overs because they don't carry the same drivers or X-Overs anymore. I'm going to send them off to a really good woodman of mine to have them stripped down to bare wood and new veneer put on and stained. It breaks my heart to see someone abuse their KLIPSCH like this. We need a hotline to report speaker abuse. Anyone else ever restore a pair of KLIPSCH? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  11. You guys are all so lucky So whens the next tour? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  12. So do the new woofers perform as good as the old ones? If I cut the port in half it'll be in the baffle. What if I just changed drivers and leave the network? How will this change the performance? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  13. I just looked at the horn and the part numbers match the parts page. So if these are different woofers what is difference and why? Is there anybody out there? Surely someone knows the answers to some of these questions.
  14. If anyone has been reading the threads you may know I have to replace a couple of drivers. My Q is on the driver magnet there is a sticker, it reads K-30-KN / 121213. In the parts list they list the K-30-KN with a part no. 121221. Is this the same driver or just a different part number now that they are out of circulation? And I know there are three different revisions of the EPICS. I believe this is pair is from the last revision S/N 212596879 & 212596880. I would like to know exactly what the changes were from one rev. to another. These are EPIC CF4's were discussing. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  15. Yeh the subs you mentioned have been replaced with a lower costing unit. I have the KSW300 and my brother has the KSW 15. They both do their jobs well but the 15 has a port defect that when the sub is kickin so is the port, kickin it's way out of the sub. My brother sent his sub back and they sent him a new one. Port did the same thing. So he hot glued it on the back edge of the port flange and it's fine. Also there is a LOT of noise coming out of the RCA jacks of the amp...internal acoustic noise, so he had to put tape over the RCA jacks. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  16. Wanna sell your 30's? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  17. Yeh they said I could buy directly from them. If only they sold the cabinets too Why do they discontinue speakers if they are good speakers. They should add more speaker lines instead of replacing. Anyone know where to buy KLIPSCH cabinets? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  18. No I had this problem with my CF3's ages ago. The serial numbers are concurrent and I have done some pretty extensive tests. They are blown. The sound is not of a driver reaching it's limit but more of a popping sound. Could almost mistake for something rattling on the wall. John I probably will just pay the 300 for new drivers. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  19. Yes I know the part number and prices I was just wandering if I could just deal with them. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  20. Is KLIPSCH warranty good from one owner to another? If so how do I find out if my speakers are still under warranty? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  21. O.K. it's not the end of the world but after hours of listening to countless CD's I have discovered that 2 drivers of the CF4's I recently acquired are blown. They only reveal themselves on two places of music. The passages are very low freq. and challenging. I have switched one driver from one cabinet to another and the same drivers have the same response, hence the drivers are blown. So can I buy replacement drivers from KLIPSCH or from do I have to order them from a dealer? ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  22. Dude get a PIONEER!!! hehehehehehe. I'm glad to see that at least we all are recommending quality hear, regardless of the price differences. You probably can't go wrong with most of the units mentioned here. It boils down to personal preference. I'm sure we can agree on that. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  23. I have attended the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (in the past month) and I've seen OZZY 4 times at 5th row (my aunt works for riverport ya know!). The symphony is a very natural but low volume sound. I have no problem with the way my system reproduces the silky sound of a violin or the soft touch of the flute. But rock-n-roll is recorded with mics and distortion so it is relatively easy to take on the KLIPSCH. Meaning it sounds great. I find that when judging speakers most fall short. Go to someone's house (that doesn't have KLIPSCH) turn all there bass and treble back to 0 and see how shallow it sounds. KLIPSCH gives music that depth that only a live performance can. The sound as if they are singing in the room. Voices sound rich and full of life. Heres another thing I love...DETAIL. You can actually here them moving a tad bit or breathing, now that gives it a true sense as if they are there with you. Love IT. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  24. Are these "real" KLIPSCH that these online dealers are selling? I have never heard of anyone actually getting a fraudulent KLIPSCH. The warranty is important but you take the risk sometimes. ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
  25. Well sometimes you take risks. I'm just looking for some referrals on some places to buy KLIPSCH at considerably less than what the most all retailers sell them for. There are places advertising to your door KLF 20's for 1100. If you buy them in a store and talk them down to 1350 after tax your still at 1500. 500 dollars is a BIG difference. Thanks tblasing for the reply ------------------ Onkyo TX8511 ADCOM GCD-700 KLIPSCH CF3,s KLIPSCH CF4's KSW-300
