  1. Well I have just started a course in Electric Machinery fundemantels(electro-magnetic devices),and will ask my professer on Wedensday about this stuff . He'll probably tell me a good project for you is to build that 500w converter so I'll just take him the 10$ converter I bought and ask him if it can handle up to a 1000 watts!! Till Wed. then Cheers
  2. For all you schumi and F1 fans watch the f1 to see ferrari win the australia GP and listen to schmuaccer (downloaded from napster)
  3. soundcity.com if you ordered promedia 4.1 then you have to wait from mid to late march to get them they are on backorder(i think) if ur confirmation e-mail link is not working then they havent ship !(i guess)
  4. Thanks for the info Dan , but as You by now know it is impossible to me to obtain the 220V version, then the thing about the klipsch debate, who are your sources for this story. From my experience(humble on I might say) all the appliances I have seen especailly audio, and including my Pioneer A330 which I am using ,all of them a 110-220V switch in them. You say there is a comprise where is comprimise I dont beleive it is in quality because there is a step down anyway in the amplifier to 12V (Iam guessing here and not sure) I do agree with you that it would be much less of a hassle if I get the 220V version but as I said i think it impossible. Hope Amy helps here If you have any other observations I would apperciate it Dan F ( by the way whats the frequency in the states 50 or 60Hz??
  5. ironically the price thing is what worries me , but it nothing fancy in fact the electration did this transformer himself ,and it weighs around 3.8-4kg, 3.5" high and 5"wide ,Is there a way to safly test if it can output up to a 1000W since it is (as the electracian said capabale of up to 10Amps which is a huge amount). Most steroes and computers come with a 110v-220V switch it shouldnt be that costly should it? By the way the dealer in lebaonon doesnt have klipsch anymore and never heard of promedias
  6. Well with all the discussion on converters(transformers 220v-110v),I would like to say that I just bought one for 10$ that the electrain told me can handle 10A which according to him is more than enough for the klipsch promedia or any other amplifier. Well I would like to know Amy's opinion about that and I think the power supply here (in lebanon and europe is 50Hz ) not sure what it is in the states 50or60Hz . Further from my own knowledge their is a step down in the amplifier to around 12V DC right? I would apperciate your comments Amy ( wanna be sure I got the right transformer)
  7. Hey ForMatPrO1 dont despair, if your dealer sell 2.1 for 310$ mine never heard of promdeias. Klipsch says that it doesnt ship outside the U.S or allow any online site to ship outside the U.S to protect its dealers, but does klipsch protect its dealer by harming itself by not selling promedias since their dealers dont sell them anyway. I think there shoould be a clear message or (petition )to klipsch about that, and if they dont care their loss after all you are paying !) If you find something better than promedia tell me and if not , wont you try the forwarding address like me???
  8. Well Seb it is diffcult to argue with you if you already made your mind up. Apart from this conversation(argument), tell me honsetly if you own a Live Value! and dont care about the software bundale or the didgital output (5.1) since you will be using klipsch 4.1 would you buy the live X-gamer or +MP3??? For me no unless you can prove me wrong because I dont belive their is enough of a difference of quality to change or upgrade as you might say. As for v2 -400 ok buy the amplifier and it is justifiable( why does only klipsch sell these by the way)
  9. I never said anything about being ripped off. I was just admiring the markting of Klipsch and Creative to sell the same products with polishing instead of a brand new architcture (for the live!) which wasnt needed. Since you are defending them so much ,they dont for your information they dont deny that the 4.1 is a polished v2-400 nor does creative for the same matter. Some companies produce brand new lines and archticures ,others succeed with the same product after having it polished (very few) And I admire them for that!!! I just wanted this as an observation not attacking anyone or saying that we were being tricked. Hope this clear for you Seb
  10. Well VIV any suggestions??? I hope you wont go above 650$ (give me a sysytem that delivers more than 400watts . Thanks
  11. The reason why audio companies designed subwoofer as a seprate component and didnt integrate it in the satelites is because of space and to fit well in the room. There is a sceintific reason behind this FREQUENCY RESPONCE anything below 150Hz and the human ear cant know where its coming from , so if you for example a diansour in the street and you close your eyes you wont know if it is in front or back of you, thats why the sub also comes as a differnt component it can be placed anywhere since it takes frequencies under 150 Hz That is an electrical engineering approch
  12. I was mentioning the cost because I wanted to help the guy in Belgium to calcualte his costs, and be aware of his options, save him trouble as I had. I can get them only if they werent out of stock everywhere!
  13. You love to argue don't you, I was just saying that these are great speakers and great cards, that are markted in a such a way that reached all audiences, which is good. Basiclly they are the same product sold with or without polishing. One might even think why klipsch didnt include a headphone jack and a powerswitch , maybe to update later???? just like expansion games, selling the same game( differnet missions)!! No extra work nessary just selling around the same idea. Yes creative have been selling the same chip for years but under differnt names and drivers!! I am not made from klipsch again this is just an observation.(fact of markting)
  14. Thank you ,you have just proved my point. These are the same chips with diffent markting plans, some with games, some with differnt drivers, but in the end they are the product sold to differnt people, so if you like music you get + Mp3 if you like game you get X-Gamer, when in fact they are the same chip markted differntly!
  15. What are crossfires? Who cares about costs here
  16. Just because people know that fact but dont think about means it a working startegy , now come on tell whats the big difference ,and the same applies to the Creative labs sound cards. Whats that stuff about me being mad , thats none sence , i am merly stating an observation that I belive to be a fact.
  17. Well if you look at most electronics ,HIFi you will notice on the power switch the conversion of 220 to 110, but klipsch (Since they dont ship outside the U.S dont need such a converter, on the other hand the 220V model is the same model with a convertor period. The quality is not determined by the power supply, remember you are using the same exact frequency 50-60Hz but a transformer(magnet with coils around merly steps down the voltage thats it , no quality difference!
  18. My Dear friend I have had this problem for longer than you can imagine, and guess what I live in lebanon where the dealer doesnt know whats a promedia . Anyway all online sites dont ship outside the U.S!!!!!!!!! So I got me a forwarding address and guess what, when I finally got to buy them they are out to stock!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I forget to mention the cost of the forwarding address (100$) the cost of shipping to the address (84$) the tax in the U.S (24$) and then shipping to lebanon (8$sXeach kilogram =approx.105$) Damn it I am still waiting to see if klipsch accepts my payment and ship to the forward address, most online site dont accept international cards. Wait e-mail me privately can show some tricks I learned ,and help you more.. BoHAAAAAAHAA
  19. Ok, "Impedance." is a measure of resistance to the flow of electricity and you need to know this rating to properly select a receiver or amp to power your speakers. Ohm ratings have NOTHING to do with sound quality, just the speaker/amp compatibility. All receivers today will work fine with an 8 ohm speaker, but stronger, higher quality amps can work with lower 4 ohm and even 2 ohm resistance loads. A speaker's impedance can vary widely while playing music- -sometimes an "8" ohm speaker will go as high as 32 ohms (not a problem) and as low as 2 ohms (could be a problem). All you have to know is the compatibilty between speaker and amps and you wont have a problem. Iam an electrical engineering student I Know a bit
  20. Dont worry, fix it if you know its simple if you dont know or it cant be fixed go to a local electrical/or cable/ or audio store taking with you this DIN and get a replacement. YES klipsch manufactures in china , nothing fancy in there , no gold wiring , I bet you can find anywhere for cents!!!
  21. Even now the klipsch online store is out of stock, while from a very while the v-2 400 where available almost everywhere. One must admire the capabilty of klipsch to sell the same product 90% identical twice ,all this fuss about the new promedia which are almost identical the previous model and several biast online reviews had led to this succefull markting plan which made klipsch profict twice from the same product. Another company comes to mind that used the same strategy is Creative Labs with sound blaster Live! value , X-Gamer , +Mp3 and even platinum which are exactly the same chip with very minor differences. You can either learn a lesson here or feel screwed, well not really, I mean this is good markting plans that arent taught at unversities. good learnig
  22. After having them in stock ,it just so happens that when I ordered they were sold out!!! Well I hope Amy know because the guys at planetminidisc dont, when will klipsch ship to other online retailers??????????????????
  23. Textc> This is to get the subject back on top
  24. Well the klipsch are rated at 400rms which converts to 565.68Watts, doesnt that mean I need a conversion rate of 600W , the more I climb the safer????
  25. So the conclusion is that the live! value is good enough and equivalent to the 5.1 if you use the standard klipsh 4.1 analog configration.
