  1. Stew thats great news! Hope the pay helps and the pain is gone asap! Winch we'll get together on the reciever this weekend. Have been working on my Knob creek the last few nights but it was St. Pats day so went out with the boys for a few drinks. Cute girl at the bar convinced me to drink a few Irish car bombs with her(only in the spirit of the holiday, of course). Looking back I think I'll stick to the good stuff.haha. Had an afternoon off for a change and went with a few buds to the river to wet a line. That was a good decision.... What a day! Anyway closing up the bar tonight with a bottled water(due to the bar tab and a 9am class). Cheers to all... and if there's any of that cuban rum left I'll have a taste! Hunt
  2. Stew- nice one! Might have to try that line on a few of the "Dr's" up here. If anyone is interested the answer is yes the new show on FX, Justified...kicks ***! It is best enjoyed with an ice cold beer. It made me want to go play with my new Kimber .45...which I did. Still trying to find an AV reciever that can work double duty for HT and music. Course I could just switch over and run tubes. Getting ever more jelous on Winchester's stup every time I stop in.... Cheers to all!!! Hunt
  3. Hey fella's. Hope everyone is well this evening. Sitting down to a case of Coke and a far too small bottle of Knob Creek. Plan to share it with an old friend by the name of Bocephus. Think I'll put on some vintage Jr. Anyway looked at some neat stuff this weekend from Jeff Rowland and SonusFaber....BIG MISTAKE! Holy crap it sounded good...now I want some new toys. Not even that I need anything like what I was playing with but the bug is back, lol. I'm in need of a better AV reciever truth be told. This little Yamaha ain't cutting it. Any great buys on a less than unlimited budget? Thanks guys.
  4. Okay Okay!! I've heard enough about winter and snow. Sorry for my absence fella's took me a few weeks to dig out up here. As of today we broke the snow record held for the past 60 f*&Kin years!!!!! We topped the 70inch mark here in north western NC. I now know what the NORTH in North Carolina means. But minus the cost of the 1500lbs of salt I've shelled out for this winter life is good. They've made a habbit out of cancelling classes at the school house which has led to more time in front of and between the speakers. Just finished off the ZZ Top concert from Essen, Germany 1980. A sweet find...and at Walmart none the less! In the market for a new toy, looking like a high end 1911 as of today. But since they make more than one type of lead slingin' device there's always the chance it could be something else. Grillin a pork loin and some smashed taters...yea gave up on waiting for the snow to leave before grilling. But hope all is well with everyone and spirits are high. Since Winch got the drinks a while back I guess I'll get 'em tonight....(Still got any of that comm. $ left Winch so I can buy these fine gentleman a drink?) ~Hunt
  5. Ace..your buddy will be in our prayers. That is a shame that happened to him. Hope he gets better and has a full recovery! Cheers bud. Hunt
  6. Well after watching the state of the union address here I am at the bar...in need of a drink. I heard a lot of rhetoric and promises. We shall see what happens with the "freeze" idea.(not all that sold on it myself...ok not sold at all!) I'm still a believer in the fact that we could audit the FED and see more return on our money.lol. Lots more snow heading our way up here so stocking up on Jack and coke...won't need any ice.haha. Cheers! Hunt
  7. Happy late BDay Ace! Yea my next "big" one will be thirty.lol. Hang in there Stew, hopefully the shoulder will get better w/o surgery. I feel like Delbert just "sittin here watchin it rain" and boy is it depressing. Course I guess rain is better than another 2 feet of snow...which we are getting more of next week.(yay). This crappy weather makes it a real blast to walk around campus all day looking like something from a gordons fish commercial. Not to mention theres not much fun in trying to fish in the rain when they are calling for creek flooding(which for those of you who don't fish means bad fishing weather). Anyway enough from the complaint dept...hoping to put together a trip to Troy MT this spring for a little R&R. Anyone been out that way? Also I am indeed looking foward to the upcoming Superbowl between the Colts & Farve(the Vikings can come too). Whoops I guess I kinda gave away my picks for tommorow. If any of you would like I have plenty of JD and Finlandia to go around here in the mtns. You will, however, have to bring your own Coke and tonic water. Cheers to all! Hunt
  8. 3 pts for germerikan! yes its off his 1997 Blue Moon Swamp album. I rediscovered it the other night and have been enjoying it ever since. More icey mess for us up here weather wise. Im getting a little tired of it to be honest. It's going to be awhile before the fish thaw out and want to eat which is another annoyance. But plenty of Jack down stairs in the man cave to keep warm with. Cheers fella's P.S....winchester...go shoot your damn Kimber and quit bitchin'. Hunt
  9. P.S....hope all works out well for you BigStew! Hoping the therapy does the trick!! Hunt
  10. Tarheel...name the place and the time! Sounds like a good time.Winchester.....you should have shot that fine piece of steel! It's OH SO SWEET! 5 shots is all I got to fire....5 in the X ring...nough said. Anywho sittin round the house enjoying a little bit of Jack with an amzing track from a few years back..." Hundred And Ten In The Shade"...anybody?? Drinks on me to the one who knows it. If you don't shame shame. This track is outa sight even on my lame 'ole RF3's(haha). Hope everyone's drinks are strong and tune's are long...have a good one fella's. Hunt
  11. Well yet another day scratched off the calender. We made it up to the 40's!!!!! Homemade BBQ tonight should be good( will report back post consumption). Should go great paired with some Mudcrutch and Jack black label. Hope all is well with the gents here at the bar. Cheers! ~Hunt
  12. The Almighty Winchester has been licking his wounds, presumably, from the Christmas season. LOL. The son of Winchester here...back after a long lapse myself. I promise all he is in good spirits( ya'll know the kinds I'm talking about). Well after a short football season for my Panthers( my man Farve is still kickin') and a very productive deer season all has sadly come to an end. Time for some fishin!....oh yeah I forgot it's 12 degrees! Sufferin through the already harsh winter( we"ll have had 3 days above freezing in the last 31 days come tommorow)and some how keepin' warm. If it weren't for all this snow and ice i'd swear I live in NC. But as I said keeping warm with some good brown whisky and the new Chris Knight album on the RF's and the RB's. Hope everyone had a great Xmas...and not a "winter holiday". Old No7 and lots of ice for all! ~Hunt
  13. IN FARVE WE TRUST!...what a game...any doubters out there?I think Bret answered all questions about his age/arm last night. Man I love watching him play ball. After a far too long morning of class I decided to hit the pistol range with a close bud who is home on leave from Iraq. Had a blast!....no pun intended...shooting the ole' XD. 9 fliers out of 150 rounds was enough to remind me why I love this country. Being at the range this afternoon, drinking a brew with my bud this evening and enjoying a fine peice of foreign grown tobacco brings to mind the saying made famous by a fellow American. "YOU CAN'T DO THIS IN FRANCE!"I must say having just enjoyed all of these things, not to leave out a great episode of Sons of Anarchy, makes me very proud to live in this country. Now that I'm off the politically incorrect soap box....how bout a beer boys? Newcastle's on me. ~Ratherhunt
  14. Well tarheel if there's anything you don't like be sure to send it this way, that sounds like a hell of a collection! Thats a shame your buddy had to let it go. Spent the mid-morning/ early afternoon in the Watauga River up here and lets just say it was well worth it! In an hour managed to land 7 trout and one of which was a bruiser!! Caught a few bows and brookies quick with the trusty spinning outfit( shimano & ugly stik). Then the fun started.....hokked a MONSTER after casting to a swirl in less than 2' of water across the river. After a hell of a fight and several prayers (swearing off everything but expensive whisky and great speakers) I managed to lay my hands on the biggest trout I've landed in 5 years! And no bragg just fact....I live and fish in the trout mecca of the southeast and have landed my share of citation fish. But this was one for the wall fellas! After wading back to the bank...oh yeah stupid here forgot waders and a net!.....cold feet to say the least! There he was....24" well over 3lbs. one hell of a beautiful rainbow. Of course no camera but a guy and his g/f were walking by and ran down to take a pic for themselves. I'm supposed to begetting an email pic from this and if/when I can figure out how to post it in a messageI will be sure to do so to prove this isn't just another fishing story.haha. Settling down for a drink...prob. a Finlandia VT...and the EAGLES farewell DVD from Australia...good times Vodka on me tonight boys! ~Ratherhunt
  15. Finally some cold weather in the mtns! We finally hit the 30's up here(lol) in NC. Cold weather got my deer movin' around, course it's hard to enjoy it when your nursing the sick girlfreind. But she's left for the great ATL once again...I can't helpbut think that she knows i'm going hunting so she comes to visit and gets sick...hmmm?? Anywho the woman is awayand there are deer to slay! Goin in themorning to my favorite spot...seen deer everytime I've been at this stand this season...and by stand I mean spot on the ground I "stand". I have this sick need to be eye to eye when I let the arrow fly and put the hammer down on 'em. And YES...the panthers suck! But all is well my man Farve is still alive and well with a football in his hand....maybe I could live with being a Vikings fan, for this year. Might not be bad idea fellas...I hear we could get a great group rate on a party boat! ~'ratherhunt
