  1. My reason is because I wanted to make the Chorus II's I bought used on Craigslist to be my own. I have been running a lets say reference 35 system for years. I thought about RF7's but a buddy of mine has had a set of II's for years...I really like em. After getting nowhere trying to get him to sell me his (they been in storage for 5 years). I decided to look for a used pair on my own.

After looking a few (not a lot) I found a pair about 2 hours from home. Kind of a strange transaction... The first scheduled audition date was canceled while I was driving there.

I was told he was very sorry and had a family emergency . I will admit my disappointment but (S...) happens. I did contact him and let him know that if things change that I was still interested

(never expecting to hear from him again). Three weeks went buy and finally he contacted me and said " This saturday between 11:00 and 1:00". Got there noticed they were in great shape .

He was running an older Marantz receiver . Gave him my Stevey Ray cd and I guess the rest is clear. (setteled for a little less that asking) thought it was a fair price.

Loaded them into my wifes SUV and got them home and had them setup that day. (moved the RF35's to the rears). Everything really sounded GREAT. Now I kept thinking I need a center to match. So I bought a Academy from a guy on this forum. After thinking about it a bit and researching options. I decided an a set of Bob's crossovers and diaghprams for both mid and tweeter.

I am glad I did. I'm not I a guy with all this test equipment to measure the difference. I just think they sound better. And knowing what is what is a good thing also. The instructions on Bob's site are easy to follow. The next project will to do the same to the Academy...If I ever get a cabinet built that it will fit in

  2. Hey ... I didn't mean to cut down the 4808 CI... But I had a 3808CI... I felt I could never get it to sound great.... I don't know is it an auto calibration thing or what...my guess is NOT . I even pulled out the trusty Radio shack sound level meter and set thing up myself and still did not like it... Still I wasn't hearing the surround seperation .... so after owning it for about 2 months I gave it to my brother inlaw...ended up buying an amp and processor. All I can say is " what a difference"

I see some guys are talking about the new Pioneer Elites... I first hear one at a freinds town house I think it was the SC77... My first impression was ...not impressed.. See my buddy was running it through a bose acoustimass (POS)... last week went I over to watch football on Sunday and he pulled his real system back out of the closet.

Chorus II's,RC7,RS7 surrounds and RS3's for the rears and of course and the Infra 18 BagEnd sub (weighs a ton)... Well I have to say I have changed my mind about Pioneer... Holy ----.

I glad I'm not his neighbor. He did a demo with the movie Gi Joe Retaliation in what he calls " the great room"... Vaulted sealing (with a sealing fan that is 8 feet wide). It sounded fantastic.

Like I said ... I changed my mind about Pioneer

  3. Nice build. I really wish there were more sound card choices. But I have heard good things about your Asus card. Wish it was not so pricey

  4. I agree about separates. That is why I run seperates in both systems.

As far as receivers I have owned several ...this might be showing my age.. Now I just thought I'd say I was into stereo before they came out with 8 tracks. My first receiver was a Concept 5.5 .Then I stuck Pioneer for a while. When surround sound came in I went over to Onkyo then Sony Es then Denon. Did not like Denon at all. Of all the receivers I had the best was STR-DA7ES by Sony. The reason I went to seperates was cause I figured you are always going to need amplification but processing technology is going to keep changing. Back to the Pioneer Sc Elite series. Like I said. They seem Ok

  5. Go with the SVS . I love my 10 inch isd'. I like how they stand behind their stuff. Any issues no questions asked it will be taken care of. Don't get me wrong HSU is top quality also... But I am very impressed with SVS ... I had to replace the volume control on my RSW 10 about a year ago... my PB10ISD has been rock solid since purchased.

  6. Didn't mean to start anything but every time I talk to friends (the ones who don't care about home theater) about Oppo Digital they look at me like I am saying Insigna or something. I live for movies and home theater. I am in the process of deciding on a new TV . I plan on moving the SXRD to the second smaller system along with the Oppo 83 and buying a 103
