  3. Better off with the Panasonic Rp91 then the Toshiba 9200. The 9200 has the chroma bug and is a bit outdated "chip" wise. The Rp91 will also give you scaling capabilites for your non-anamorphic dvd's which comes in handy if you have a 16x9 HDTV set. Keep in mind that with any dvd-audio players currently on the market now...you will need a bass manager for the 5.1 outputs. Outlaw ICBM or M & K Mini BMC would work fine for this. 5. HornEd : Thanks for all the advice...I am seriously considering another KLF20 for a center...lol and for the subwoofer...I am running 2 at the moment...a Velodyne and M & K both 12" soon I will be changing out the M & k (seen its better days) for an Earthquake 12" All speakers are set for 80hz x-over (THX) so my lows are going all subs... Great photo...I love what you've done with the SVS's Eric. ------------------ Certifed Legend Maniac : 6 KLF-20 as mains, surrounds, rears! 1 KLF-C7 center! 6. How about Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell SACD.... I couldn't believe how bad the remastering job was on this one. Quite honestly the worst sounding cd or SACD I've ever heard. Very harsh and it seems like the engineer did not even try to remove some of the analog hiss and crackle that was evident from the master. Eric. ------------------ Certifed Legend Maniac : 6 KLF-20 as mains, surrounds, rears! 1 KLF-C7 center! All powered by Denon AVR-5700 (soon to be updated to Aragon Stage 1 !)
  7. You might be better off with a Velodyne, Sunfire or Earthquake subwoofer. These tend to be faster and tighter. Also you could try hooking up a second subwoofer. Hook a "Y" adapter to your SUB pre out and run cables to the 2 subs. I think you find an improvement on your bass response. Finally, make sure your Yamaha's crossover is set to 80hz (THX), all speakers are set to small and that your system is properly SPL'ed. All speakers at 75dB spl...subwoofer at 79dB spl. Good luck Eric. ------------------ Certifed Legend Maniac : 6 KLF-20 as mains, surrounds, rears! 1 KLF-C7 center! All powered by Denon AVR-5700 (soon to be updated to Aragon Stage 1 !)

  9. Thanks HornEd for the reponse...I was thinking about the mod.....and then - I thought what the hey....maybe I'll get another KLF 20 and make that a center...with a perforated screen and front proj...but thats a bit away as right now I am concentrating on my new home... I'd love to see the mods on your set up, the pics and all...! Eric. ------------------ Certifed Legend Maniac : 6 KLF-20 as mains, surrounds, rears! 1 KLF-C7 center! 12. That SVS also doubles as a nice HEPA air cleaner! LOL Eric.
  13. quote: can u run ps vid thru most a/v receivers or pre/pros? or do they need special ins/outs? what are the required specs on these? No you can't run progressive scan through an a/v receiever unless it has "wideband" component inouts and outputs. quote: I thought the only requirement is that you have a component video(Y,Pr,Pb). Component outputs deliver to your monitor the three "RGB" as it was originally recorded on the dvd. Component video is output as an interlaced signal on a dvd player that has component video outputs. If you have a dvd player capable of Progressive scan, then progressive scan takes the signal to the next step. However you have to remember that the video is recorded as an interlaced signal on the dvd...so a progressive player converts the interlaced video over to progressive after it is line doubled. Ultimately, what is supposed to happen is that a progressive video is a smoother more film like image. 14. Tom : The Toshiba 6200 is great! Progressive scan is the way to go if you have the capability on your monitor. However, my 6200 (seeing combing and chroma bug sometimes-newer players improve on this) has sadly seen its day, and I am looking to update very soon to the new Pioneer universal that is scheduled for FEB - dvd-a, sacd, prog. scan, etc. Looks really nice. If that doesnt work out then maybe a Denon DVM 4800 or Sony DVP NS900. LOL Lotsa great players out there that do progressive scan. Even the Panasonic RP91 is getting rave reviews. Eric. ------------------ Certifed Legend Maniac : 6 KLF-20 as mains, surrounds, rears! 1 KLF-C7 center! All powered by Denon AVR-5700 (soon to be updated to Aragon Stage 1 !)
  15. Thank you all for the comments. Mike and DrPyro : The rack is made by BDI Inc. I believe the website is www.bdiusa.com The rack is very stable. It is well made and well constructed. The glass shelves make it look very elegant. With the Denon on top (won't fit elsewhere because of the wires) it stabilizes the rack nicely. I believe each shelf can handle up to approx 75 lbs. Doug and Dave : LOL looks like I'm stuck with ya in there for a while! Eric. ------------------ Certifed Legend Master : 6 KLF-20 as mains, surrounds, rears! 1 KLF-C7 center! 19. hey guys...its been awhile since I updated... Pics soon to follow! I got very lucky today - found a pair of KLF-20's for HALF price! Brand new factory sealed cartons! So now I am running 7.1 (or soon to be when I hook these babies up and get a 7.1 amp). The list : KLF-20's for mains, surrounds, and backs. (6) KLF-C7 center speaker. I feel so powerful right now...I can almost feel the SPL's of what the room will be like after I install these puppies! 20. HornED: If you need a reputable auth dealer, my buddy here in NY would love to help ya! Nice fellow and loves selling Klipsch. Let me know. and same goes for everyone else if you have a trouble dealer like Good Guys (yuck). Eric.,
  21. That is one ugly looking speaker in that ebay photo! All cleaned up I'm sure it would look nice....but hell, lol and I bet the seller wonders why the reserve wasn't met! Eric.
  22. Damn HornED--it might be time to sign those committal papers to the sanitarium! LOL ~g~ That must be a sweet set up! Holy smokes! Eric.
  23. Thanks guys. HornEd: LOL.....Another pair!?!? LOL I have no clue where I would fit em at this point! Then I would be a total nut-job! Hmmmmm, now if I got a great deal on another pair again....hehehehe Eric.
  24. Hey guys! I've been lurking around for quite some time after having bought a pair of KLF20's and a KLF-C7 in January. Having been very impressed (too bad they killed the line) I've been pining for matching surrounds. Well after seeing several of you nuts listing mains for surrounds, I decided to become a nut and picked up another pair of KLF20's for surrounds. So now-I have 4 KLF20's and a KLF-C7. Holy cow! The sound is incredible! I am a believer! 360 degree sound field and movies and music never sounded better. Bye bye Bose 301's...LOL Eric.
