  1. Thanks for the input. I have some HDCD albums and fewer SACD's. The latter they aren't making as many of it seems. Places such as Acoustic Sounds has some at a price. ($35 and up) For a couple titles that may be worth it but for new, previously un-listened to albums is dicey IMO. If I take my lumps it's a lesson learned but these units not really being available by omission, I'm hopeful.
  2. I just acquired a Rega Planet CD player and wondered what everyone's thoughts on this unit were regarding durability, quality of sound, upgrades, etc. I happed to have a Tube DAC if needed for this also. What are all of you using for your set-ups. (in the sub $1,500 region anyway) I had been using a Oppo BD970HD and upstairs I have an older Nakamichi OMS-7.
  3. It doesn't really matter how old it is. It's a great story on some great gear. I don't totally dis HT gear as I own some myself (Outlaw btw). I was just bemoaning the fact that even these high rollers place their musical priorities on aesthetics over performance. BTW, my friend in the business wasn't pushing this stuff......it's what the public (i.e. wives) are asking for. Who else but us old fart purists and emo kids use this gear anyway? Sure as hell ain't your run of the mill soccer Mom! Every time I try and hook up the neighborhood kids with systems to turn them onto it the biggest objection their Mother's throw out is the size of the speakers!
  4. It's great to see that there are lots of us that place our priorities on sound rather than video! (As this is very obvious from the picture of your listening room!) Not intended to be a slam in any sense, I'm deadly serious about this. I have a friend who has his own home audio install business and he was recently telling me that "the future" (for him anyway) with these high dollar home installs consists of "hidden speakers, amps and pre's controlled by iPhones and iPods as the primary source material" Arrrrrrgggghhhhh! oh well, maybe that improves all of our chances of picking up more vintage gear at reasonable prices! Great looking set-up by the way! Just go ahead and ditch the TV and get a large screen monitor to stream your iPhone videos! (ha!) Mark
  5. Not the greatest pics but you get the idea...... From H-ML Herey's 11/11/09 3:57 PM" mce_src=" From H-ML Herey's 11/11/09 3:57 PM" mce_src="
  6. What are these model Heresy's exactly? They have model number H-ML and have mitered corner joints. They appear to be mahogany. These have the Klipsch Logo badges with the horizontal stripes through them. Copper-ish & black badges. Serial 39R418 & 419 Any help is appreciated.

  8. Thanks! Yeah but those are actually wood side pieces are they not? Maybe if we used250 ib weight cardboard and some cushioning for the sides. I don't like that gap between the sides and the exterior of the speaker.
  9. Thanks Michael! I didn't think it was a very mystic P/N but was unsure.
  10. Anyone know what the "HOO" model designation means for the Heresy Series?
  11. Someone on AK suggested Just4U Services which performs a whote glove type service that is allegedly cheaper than the usual suspects and cheaper too. I'll have to see what that quote looks like and report back. Sounds like the best option though. Thanks.
  12. I have a girl up north of Boston that is willing to ship me a pair of Klipsch Heresy's. I prefer FedEx as a shipper only b/c they have a hub about 3 miles from my house and don't seem as rough as UPS. (disagree at will) She has asked that I guide her in the packing of these and I wanted to know (lazy I know, I WILL check locally) if any of you knew of any National Packers (FedEx, Packaging solutions, etc) that might be able to do a competent job before she drops these mint puppies off for shipment. Any and all advice is appreciated. Mark (PS, I will show her the Shipping 101 Sticky from the AK forum, but the problem may be some moron on the other end, not her, that may tell her x, y & z are not necessary.) I'm doing all I can to maximize safe arrival.Double boxing is a no brainer. However I wanted to make this as painless for her as possible.
  13. Hi guys, Klipsch newbie here. I picked up a set of KG 4.2's in black today as well as a 4.1 (?) center channel for a real cheap price. They black is probably the worst color I could have found for refinishing purposes but what the hell. So far they sound real sweet. I'm hoping to pick up a pair of lightly dinged Heresy's Thursday and can't wait for that! I have a bunch of different speakers but me thinks I need a larger amp. Aside from a 165wpc Outlaw amp for my HT set-up, the largest guys in my line up are an SX-1010 and and SX-3900. All the others are sub 100w. With the Klipsch efficiency I don't think any of them should be a problem. Any recommendations for refinishing the black Klipsch or should I just oil them up and leave them be? I'm stoked about getting into these horn style speakers! I heard a set of vinatge Altec Valencia 846b's recently and almost loaded them into my truck. Only reason was I forgot........I have a wife! Damn!
