  1. I just got in from picking, smashing and shoveling the ice pack that's been residing below my driveway for the last several months and all along the front of the house to the city sewer. I'm all set for tomorrow's blast. ☃️ Wb
  2. When I want some 'freedom' from my wife's most annoying fog-horned voice sister I just put on some Janis Joplin and she runs for her life out of here. Amazing what an excess of tobacco and Southern Comfort will do to your vocal chords. 🏇 Wb
  3. The conspiracy nut on the TV? He's overdue for his once every 12 months visit with his barber. 🚫 Wb
  4. Too bad you can't custom order a pair made with Baltic Birch and the veneer of your choice (not so limited). I'd be a buyer. Wb
  5. Serology testing should be coming shortly and that will determine who has antibodies and whom does not. The reason to get a flu shot now is symptoms can be close to those related to the Wuhan Virus and to keep you from catching this season's flu strain(s). It should also keep you the heck away from over-crowded and busy ER's, less than plentiful hospital beds and contributes to herd immunity. Your potentially mild case of the flu can kill someone exposed to you who has not been vaccinated because they are immune compromised and could not get the shot for this legitimate reason. Wb
  6. Getting between my wife (who is a retired medical professional and had to be tested for virus early on as she had a number of the symptoms) and her first grandchild, now two months old is like getting between a mother Grizzly and her cub. Yes, everyone has PC's and phones here too. Logic goes out the window, but I still keep my distance. Wb
  7. Except to say: If you did not get your annual flu shot last fall, get it now if you can. Wb
  8. Sadly, in spite of our relatively recent history which includes the Spanish Flu, Polio, SARS, Ebola, MERS, etc., most medical schools no longer teach anymore the histories of Edward Jenner, Sabin and Salk. Nor do they teach about Banting, Best and the other researchers that developed insulin and then sold the patent for $1. This needs to change! Wb
  9. Look here if you want to know how a potentially deadly pandemic with no available vaccine or provenly successful treatment is available: See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_coronavirus_pandemic_in_Taiwan Wb
  10. If it's packaged it is on the label. If it is fruit like apples, pears, oranges, etc.. There are no stickers on them. I quit buying smoked oysters as soon as I found every can coming from China. Wb
  11. Check the other thread. I'm sure that there are people with green thumbs that will post recommendations. There is also the Old Farmers Almanac, online Youtube and other sources written by knowledgeable persons for do it yourselfers. Wb
  12. My suggestion is to purchase the 2020 version of the Old Farmers Almanac. It is split into geographic zones and has all kind of information on what, how and when to plant. You should be able to grow almost anything at your elevation given decent soil and varmint control. Wb
  13. I can grown garlic and herbs easily at my latitude of 51 degrees North and 4,025 feet of elevation. The problem is the short growing season here which does not commence until late May (due to the risk of frost at night). I'm considering focusing on root vegetables like carrots, onions, potatoes, radishes, etc. if I just decide to plant into a ground level garden. If I go with raised beds and ensure that I have a moat filled with water around each row of my plantings I believe I can extend my growing season by a couple of weeks at minimum. I should have garlic to barter, if this becomes necessary, but I hope things don't come down to that. I will NOT buy food sourced from China and do not knowingly buy anything else from there anymore. Wb
  14. Getting back to the pandemic. The statistics on page two of this paper out of the University of Southampton are both disturbing and astounding. See: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.03.20029843v2.full.pdf Wb
  15. That is one reason I'm considering the vegetable garden. The Seed Suppliers up here have had their stock since last year. Waiting in small seed packets for pickup at a garden supply or order online. Wb
  16. I planted my garlic last October. Thinking of digging out and establishing a vegetable garden in the back yard this spring. The prior generation all put in Victory Gardens during WWII. Wb

    Food Porn

I wouldn't touch that stuff from that comes from the above cardboard bucket (the chicken and gravy went to shat after the Colonel was bought out). Below is what I made for dinner last night:
  18. Mold and mildew after a hurricane in the hotter part of N. America where these primarily occur may not be avoidable. You can proactively take actions to personally avoid this virus: isolate at home as much as practicable, wear a mask when you absolutely have to go out (N95 works best), keep a good distance between yourself and others, wear disposable gloves too if/when required, wash your hands constantly, avoid touching your face, etc. Boost your immune system with Zinc lozenges, Vitamins C and D. Wb
  19. Officially, and practically, you catch this virus and subsequently pass away while infected you have indeed died from the virus with underlying health issues being a contributory factor. It's a 'but for the fact' issue. Reportedly African Americans are dying disproportionately after getting infected. This reflects the high incidence of underlying health issues in this community of diabetes and heart ailments, etc. Wb
  20. Not on wood that is residing inside my residence. Wb
  21. The great famine in China of 1959 through 1961 was reported by the Chinese Communist Party to have resulted in one million deaths. The actual number is approximately 45 million deaths. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Chinese_Famine This closely reflects Stalin's great lie on the number of deaths in the Ukraine in the early 1930's after he had the Soviet Union's communist party seize the food crops there and force collectivized farms. It resulted in the deaths of approximately 10 million Ukrainians as is called the Holodormor today. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor The numbers of those currently infected worldwide by the Wuhan Virus, including in the western world, are approximately 14 days behind as this is the average number of days that those infected commence showing symptoms and test positive. I used to do Numerical Simulation in a past life and these are the type of models used for projections of this virus today (also for Climate Models). The current death rate is an average of 4.8%. See: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/?utm_campaign=homeAdvegas1? WRT the WHO, for the first time ever it is being run by a non MD as Director General (Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus a member of the Communist Party of Ethiopia and former Foreign Minister of Ethiopia with a PHD in Community Health). He was supported by China and the African Union (for Director General in 2017 over the candidate from the UK) and has consistently mishandled the current pandemic, puppeting the Chinese Party's lies regarding the seriousness of this virus, going so far as to claim that human-to-human transmission was not possible early on . His previous claim to fame in this role was to appoint Robert Mugabe in 2017 as 'Goodwill Ambassador' for the WHO. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tedros_Adhanom Given the above, the US is reviewing their ongoing financial support of the WHO as of yesterday. This support amounts to approximately 23% of the WHO's $250,000,000 budget and reflects just the 'assessed' number. Canada contributes between 2 and 3%, Belgium 0.8% and China ~ 11.6% (kind of disportionate isn't it?). Private individuals, like the Gates foundation and others have also donated millions of their own foundation dollars to the WHO. See: https://www.who.int/about/finances-accountability/funding/AC_Status_Report_2020.pdf?ua=1 Wb
  22. Orange (citrus) based cleaner may do the trick. Commercially available but I make my own. Wb
  23. "No Ventilator": I suspect that you've never been in an ICU gasping for air like a fish out of water? Trust me, if that horrible day ever comes you are very much going to want a ventilator. If unable to give informed consent you are going to hope that there is one available and that they hook you up. Reality is very much dependent on circumstances. Wb
  24. Stooge being called out for what she is at WH press conference. Yes, the reporter (Wang) was not truthful; Phoenix TV is controlled by state owned China Mobile. See 'History' in the China Mobile Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Mobile
  25. Most of the free world has trust in the US which is a free society and democracy. I can't think of a single instance where public health emergencies were not quickly disclosed by the US. The same cannot be said for large numbers of countries that are not democratic. Never trust any statistic provided by the government agencies of these societies: The former Soviet Union, Germany between 1933 and 1945, Mainland China since 1948. Today's Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea and Syria to name just a few recent examples. Wb
