  1. Updated my cell phone. This time I went from Samsung to Apple. Looking for recommendations for more useful Apps. So far I've found Netflix, Youtube, Google Maps, Shazam and Tune in Radio. All were free. Wb
  2. Our last 4 legged family member was also a Bichon but not related to this one. He was smart and crafty. Its been 17 years since we last had a puppy in the house but he keeps the women here busy and therefore out of my hair. So far its worth it.
  3. He's a twelve week old Bichon Frise named Oliver:

    What I Got Today!

Upgraded my universal remote to work with cell phones and tablets:
  5. I drool when I get to listen to the Shindo Labs tube amps at the authorized dealer in Phoenix.
  6. Any fans here of tube amps and tube pre-amps of Japanese manufacture? I've owned several American made and Chinese made amps but prefer the build quality and sound of my Japanese equipment. Wb
  7. no the marketing department keep making the product smaller for a host of reasons the customer being number one. The Engineering department is run/funded by the market/sales department. You need to compare old to newer before you decide which is better. It sounds like you may be assuming that new smaller equals better. Better for sales or better for sound they are two different things. All you've got to do to confirm this is think back to the look on your woman's face the first time you dragged in a Klipsch Cornwall, Khorn, LaScala or Belle. Wb
  8. I agree. Hopefully he will reconsider. Wb
  9. I for one am really looking forward to getting this information back at the official Klipsch site.
  10. Only those with skin in the game, so less than half in the US are affected, and this is really only of consequence to those who sold or are selling in a panic. Cheaper gas, cheaper groceries, cheaper energy, so there is a bright side that will affect everyone. The markets are not the economy. There were considerably less people in both absolute and per capita terms in the stock market when it crashed in 1929. In spite of this there was a world wide Depression. The Great Depression was directly a result of that market's fall.
  11. Calgary right now. Scottsdale soon I hope. With the price of logs, rocks and oil all down things are not as great in the Great White North currently. Back Bacon is the correct name for what some people call 'Canadian Bacon'. More bad news: American Cheese is actually 'Cheddar Cheese' and it should not be dyed orange. Ever.

    New TV

I purchased a 4K TV for our place in the south last March. Nice sharp picture but not as nice as the Pioneer Elite TV we watch here in the frozen north which was purchased in 2008. Like a good traditional B&W print, its more about the blackness than the sharpness. Wb
  13. Digital Extreme Definition recordings. Wiki on it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_eXtreme_Definition
  14. Definately part of the equation. Also like visiting with the artist. When you visit, are you having feelings of admiration? Pity? Scorn? What? i have spoken with Brian May multiple times. I admire him having earned a Doctorate in Astrophysics, for achieving a high level of skill on the guitar, creativity writing music, and his self-proclaimed greatest passion animal rights activism. He is also a very decent gentlemam. Brian claims that some songs are just made up stories, some are things that either he or someone he's known has encountered. I've heard him caution others to avoid thinking that every song is autobiographical. It's embarrassing for me to hear a lyric and be disappointed with the artist, until I find out the person in the story wasn't them at all, just something the artist had observed. Go ask Alice Cooper...he said that many of his songs have a biblical theme to them ... I think his words were "there is a God and there is a devil...don't choose the devil." There a some songs that he says he can't sing anymore. Being a writer, I don't want to state things plainly--I want the reader or listener to get the theme; but, I want it to also to be vague enough that others can relate it to their lives. Here's an Youtube example of a song that Alice certainly 'can't sing'. Well anymore:
  15. Acoustic Research's Subwoofer Cables work for me.
  16. My cup runneth over with disk space. Its more about the time to download the files and the cost of DXD recordings. Wb
  17. Anyone listening to DXD recordings? Are they worth the time, money and disk space? Wb
  18. ... and Paul is dead. To confirm: play Revolution 9 track from the White Album backwards. Wb
  19. It will have been the pneumonia that took him. RIP.
  20. Did you use the right channel speaker wires when you moved the speaker to the left and vice versa? What is the output wattage of the amp and are both speaker wires the exact same length? Wb

    What I Got Today!

Finally pulled the trigger on a DAC. Ordered today - expected later in the week.
  22. "You know they've got a Hell of a band... band." RIP.
  23. I agree, the only way to keep artists making music is to pay for that music. Wb
