  1. Indeed I will. Bob's A/4500 XO's replaced the original AB units and restored the original sound. Theses AA's have the reputation to bring up the detail, warmth and musicality a good step up from stock. I plan to install just one unit at 1st and compare the two XO types before installing the second XO. May have to find a labeling machine before I do the install though.
  2. Thanks Dean. As to anything involving wiring I know just enough about the subject to screw it up. Sometimes badly.
  3. Perhaps she's been planning on removing you from the scene and is thankful that you found some large, coffin large boxes to assist her with her mad plan?
  4. Picked up a pair of Type AA XO's from another Forum member's ad here on the Garage Sale forum. Now I need to replace the Crites A/4500 with the new to me AA's. The terminals on the new AA's are not labeled like the original Klipsch XO's units or BEC's as shown here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/159267-jensen-capped-aa-networks/ I don't want to wire these incorrectly so my question is which terminals are for the inputs, the tweeters, mid range and bass speakers? TIA, Wb
  5. Price is right as I believe I kept them. Finding where I stuck them will be the challenge if I decide to compare tweeters when I swap out the Crites XO's. Using the A/4500 will put your K77 diaphragms at risk. The AA's built by Dean you have on the way don't have zener diodes, putting your K77 diaphragms as risk as well, however, this may only be relevant if you plan on running a more powerful amp than your Type 45. My winter tube amp runs a pair of NOS RCA 211 power tubes and is rated at about 18 WPC. I suspect these, at 1/2 volume even Beethoven and ALK can hear these a block away when attached to my Belles and rocking.
  6. Wow, what a great idea. Some of your guys have irreplaceable knowledge and although some of that can be found on the Forums, putting all that info in one place is a great idea. I glanced at the Wiki page. It is sparsely written and is out of date. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klipsch_Audio_Technologies And you're right, Gary. That comment (discussion actually) on "honkyness" needs to go. Would you care to start a new thread so people who can update the Wiki article can coordinate and collaborate? Maybe not. When things go off the tracks at Wiki it can end with pistols at dawn.

  8. Thanks. But I should probably add... no suggestions that if implemented end with me being rolled into a cold, dark 6'X3' hole in the backyard on the next moonless night.
  9. So far, I've changed the tweeters on my 1981 Belles, replaced the tweeters with Crites CT-125's, replaced the original AB Crossovers (1st with Bob's A/4500 XO's) and now have a pair of Dean G built AA XO's I scored from the Garage Sale forum here on the way. I've also upgraded all the tubes in my Type 45 (2.5 Watt) Amp. Logically, where do I go from here for the Belles? Replace the stock mid's with ? or? Need to be affordable (my budget will be ~$500 or less).
  10. Indeed. Sadly the CDN Peso's I had to convert to USD to pay for these are in the doldrums along with the rocks, logs and crude oil we produce. Well my Belles will love them even if the woman that keeps me here does not.
  11. Sorry gang but I 'stole a march' on all of you by waiting and watching for some Dean AA's that I could afford just like a spider. It's been two years but I pounced on these when they were 1st posted yesterday afternoon! Rest assured they will have a good home. Wb
  12. Yes, quite simply that is all I was saying. My first tube amp predates my Klipsch Cornwalls and now Belles and was Grant Fidelity's inexpensive KT88/EL34 integrated. I subsequently replaced the Grant Fidelity integrated with Opera Consonance 211/222 Monoblocks which put out around 18 WPC. Since then, I've added a couple of Japanese Amps and really like the combination of my 2 WPC 45 SET Amp (Yamamoto A-08S) and the Belles. With efficient Klipsch speakers I certainly don't need more than 2 WPC unless I'm listening to classic rock. You can find Grant Fidelity here which will give you the brands they carry, specs and prices: http://grantfidelity.com/site/ If I was just getting into tubes today I would not change the route I followed before. Wb
  13. I currently own a couple of Tube DAC's made for Grant Fidelity. The DAC-11 (mine) and other DAC's they sell you can view online here: http://shop.grantfidelity.com/Digital-Converters/ Wb
  14. I've owned both the G9000 and a factory 110V version of the G901 (same specs as the G9000) both sounded good with my Cornwalls. Not bright or sweet more neutral sounding. I have since sold the G9000 and have a lower power tube amp in place of the Sansui's as they have too much power to not want to turn them up which equates to a low WAF here. Wb
  15. "What would you want for one of your RCA's? I had to ask... :)" My original purpose for buying it (gift for an old friend) didn't happen. It is however not for sale. Wb
  16. I've tried lots of different tubes in the 6922/6DJ8/ECC88 tube family and the best sounding I've found are the late 50's, early 60's Made in Holland Amperex EC88's with the pinched waist and gold pins. They don't come cheap though assuming that you can find one. Wb
  17. Thanks guys. I was able to remove the old tweeters and replace them with the CT-125's without having to remove the speaker tops. My Belle's sound great with these and Bob Crite's XO's. Wb
  18. I've got some Crites CT-125 tweeters to install in my circa 1982 Belles. What is the best way to get at these? TIA, Wb
  19. Recently both 1978 and 1984 Klipschorns have come up for sale. That, and my reading somewhere, that you can't replace the crossovers as easily on mid 1980's Khorns had me thinking. Wb
  20. Are there certain years that Klipschorns are more desirable? For example: 1980 to 1984? I'm thinking with respect to construction and for replacement of parts? Wb
  21. My 2 WPC 45 Tube Amp could easily drive my 98.5dB Cornwalls to a reasonably loud, when I wanted it, level.
  22. Thanks for the offer. I suspect that it will be sometime in the 1st half of next year if I decide to go for the Volti horns. Wb
