  1. Thanks, if you look close they have already been recapped with sonicaps performed by me. And they sound great. For 44 years old their incredable. These speakers have sequential numbers on not only the cabinets but all the drivers as well, everything matches , the wood grain matches between the two speakers and as well as the side of the individual speakers. They are truly a very fine peice of work.
  2. I just sent a pair of Heresys to my brother 700 miles from me and they got there in the same condition they were in when they left my house by UPS. Purchased boxes 2" bigger than the size of the speakers on all three sides and added styrafom all arround the speakers. cost was 64.00 total in two seperate boxes. Previous post isexactly how how I shipped my speakers.
  3. Picked these up for 200 bucks in a pawn shop, what do ya think? 1966 HWO-12
  4. Well I picked them up. I had to think hard about them because when I opened up the back there was corrosion on the tweeter magnet and on all the wood screws. The production stickers are mostly all there and both are legible, all of the drivers are original and the crossover as well. I had a feeling that something was not going to work, and sure enough both tweeters are out. I was able to get them for 200 bucks even. Not really sure I made the right choice but I bought them so now I feel obligated to bring them back the glory they once had. What would it cost me to put new diaphrams in them, I'm assuming thats the problem since I isolated them and ohmed then out and they are open (no continunity) Can I do it myself or do they need to go somewhere to have it done? Second, do the crossovers need work as well? Is there a way to test them? Specifications of the crossovers? I'm going to search the site and see what I can find out as far as restoring them, I just wanted to give ya'll an update on the speakers. Thanks Mark
  5. The guy had them marked at 400, and said he would let them go for 300. I'm sure I can get him down to 250, he's had them for a while now. I'm going to go back today ald listen to them. I'll let yall know. Mark
  6. Thats the one, just like the speaker on the right. Same color grill and wood the logo is the same as well. Worth? Year?
  7. I saw a pair of Klipsch speakers in the pawn shop and I'm not sure if they are Heresys. The lable on the back says Model 700 along with a large "H" , H-WO-12, the serial numbers are 1E209 and 1E210. He was asking 300 for the pair. Does anyone know what these are, early Heresys or something else? How about the year they were made. The cabinets have some light scratches on them and some deeper ones. Not perfect by any means. All the drivers work and theguy said they sound good. Not having herd them myself. What might the value be if I was to go back and negociate them? Thanks Mark
  8. Thanks for the info and the complements. They sound great as they should. I have them hooked up to a Technics SA-202 1980 vintage that was bought for me when I was 13 or so. That reciever drives them very well. I had them hooked up to a more modern Kenwood system and it did'nt sound as good as the Technics did.
  9. Hello, my first post here. I was introduced to Klipsch speakers in the early 80s by my Uncle, he had a pair of Heresy I. I have always wanted a pair of these legendary speakers but just could'nt afford them. Then my luck changed the day I went in to a local pawn shop and saw these "BAD BOYS" sitting on a cart next to the counter. The manager just rolled them out of the back to be put on the floor for sale. He had a price of 69.99 for the pair. I asked him if he could do any better that that and he said I just rolled them from the back, thats the best price. So then I said how about 69.99 out the door? He said OK. The total ended up being 70.01 for the set. I could not believe what I just bought. I am sooooo stoked, as soon as I got home I hooked them up and of course the work perfectly. Just wondering what the other numbers mean that are below the serial number. Just wanted to share my story with some people who know about the Legendary Klipsch speaker.
