  1. I see that you're also on AVS. I was thinking about moving down one of them by about 6 inches, that should level up the tweeter heights on both sides. I really wonder why Klipsch made them like that? I can see its benefits for a really wide room, but for most people setting up a system in a retangular shaped rooms, most people will take advantage of the length of the room and go for a bigger screen. If these are to be used as side speakers, I'm sure I'm not the only one that have noticed this before. My side speakers aren't exactly that close to my ears when I'm in seating position either, they're almost 7 feet away from my ears on each side.
  2. Hey, Not sure if this has been covered before, if so, mod please direct me to the info and delete the thread. In my current setup, RF82 and RC64 up front and a pair of RS52 as surrounds. I've always noticed that in my surrounds that one speaker sounds louder or easier to locate its location much easier than the other. I always thought that my receiver is doing something weird by playing one surround louder than other, or the surround effects were more biased on one side vs the other in the movie content. It drove me crazy, during movies, I'm always changing the surround channel's output to get them matched by ear. I took a SPL meter to measure the individual volume when playing receiver's built in test tones, but they were always even matched in volume. I look a closer look at the RS52 last night and realized that, on each of the RS52 the tweeters on each side were on opposite sides to each other. That means the tweeter on the left side of the RS52 that's on my right surround is lower than the tweeter on the right side of the RS52 on my left surrounds. Could this be the reason why the right surround always sounds louder to me in seated position? If so, can the RS52 be mounted upside down? If I mount one of them upside down then, the tweeter heights would match on both surrounds, when in seated position. Thanks for reading this.
  3. Same here, I don't know why people bother with buying stuff off eBay nowadays. Economy is so bad that, most dealers are so desperate for business that they are willing to do anything to get a sale. I was able to get a pair of RF82 and a RC64 for a total of 1500 out the door. And because I paid by cash, I didn't even have to pay tax.
  4. Yes, eBay are full of scams. If you can think of one way to scam people with some sort of consumer goods, chances are good that someone is using that to scam people on eBay as we speak. I usually don't buy anything that costs over $100 on eBay, and when I do, I always pay by PayPal with the funds coming out of a credit card. So if there are any disputes, my credit card company can simply issue a charge-back, where I don't loose anything from it. If you want to continue buying stuff on eBay, I'd suggest you do the same. PayPal knows that having the funds coming out of the credit card is the most secure way for us the consumer, but the least secure way for PayPal. PayPal always makes sure that's last option that you'd want to use, so you'd have to look carefully when making a purchase, the option is there, but sort of hidden. That's a whole separate issue here, has nothing to do with Klipsch, the quality of their products, and their logistics. Yes, I'm very familiar with SVS and they used to ship through BAX Global when I bought a sub from them about 5 years ago. I now have 2 PB12/+2 from them and always recommend them whenever I get a chance. Their shipping carrier is a freight company and only deal with oversized or over weight items, but they're extremely efficient at it. The size of speakers that Klipsch sell in the Reference line, there's simply no need to use a freight company. And because SVS is relatively a mom's and pop's shop compared to Klipsch, their attention to detail and individual customer is much better than a that of a corporation. I totally agree with you that for a $1000 speaker, the manufacture should ship the item with good packaging and it should arrive at my door step without any damage. The problem is not Klipsch or yourself, it's the middle man that handles the product throughout the entire shipping route. I've seen how UPS and FedEx guys deal with their packages on a daily basis, and trust me they don't give a rats *** about the packages.
  5. I agree with Fish, save the money that you're going to spend on the amp, get rid of your current JBL sub and get a better sub instead. I'd look into SVS for their subs. With your current JBL sub, you're not getting much of the subsonic information that's available on most DVDs, BluRays and HD DVDs nowadays. IMO, having deep clean bass that reach to the sub 20hz range, will add much more depth to your system, that will give you more noticeble improvement over the benefits that you'd get with a more powerful amp. Don't think your current B&K amp are lacking the sufficient power, unless you watch your movies at reference levels all the time, and in that case, I'm sure your current sub are having the worst time keeping up with the rest of the system anyways.
  6. Welcome... I wouldn't call myself an audiophile either. I've had the RF82, RC64, and RS52 system for about half an year driving them with a entry level Denon receiver. When I finally upgraded to the Rotel RSP1066 and RMB1075 combo, I finally realized what the speakers were capable of. I haven't had the pleasure to hear the new 15 series of Rotel gear, but I know most of their components are well regarded as very good value in the audiophile world. They offer very good bang for little buck(well not so little, but compared to other brands.) The aesthetic design on Rotel gear is no slouch either, very comparable to other high end components, like Classe, Lexicon, and Krell, to name a few. When I had family over, and they saw the Rotel gear, they all thought the Rotel gear were the best looking stereo components they've ever seen. Are you going with just the RF83 for 2 channel stereo, or are you looking to get a multichannel setup? If you're doing multichannel, I'd suggest you save some money and go with the RF63 instead of the 83, and you will have the matching 6" drivers in the entire front stage. I personally think that the RF83 are better suited for someone that are only looking for stereo setup and will not be running a subwoofer with them.
  7. While I can certainly understand your frustration, but I think you're putting the blame on just about anybody that you had to deal with throughout this transaction. There are quite a bit of shady sellers on eBay, and I'm sure you were already aware of that, prior to this purchase. I'm pretty sure that Klipsch didn't ship out their speakers in the damaged condition that you received them in. FedEx and UPS are not anywhere near perfect, I usually find that I have to put a "fragile" sticker on just about anything that I ship with them, regardless of what it is. I find that USPS are typically much better with handling their packages, their rates are much cheaper for comparable shipping methods, and offer more shipping options for different sized packages. Regardless of how expensive of speakers you're comparing Klipsch with, you take any speaker that weighs as much as the RC64 and drop them, I'd strongly doubt that you'd find any of them in acceptable condition after the drop. If you honestly can buy any speaker you wanted, why did you buy Klipsch? And why are you comparing Klipsch's quality to any speaker out there, with any price tag? I think you're so frustrated throughout this hoopla that you're loosing your common sense. Lesson learned, there are things that you should buy on the net, and there are things that you shouldn't. Glad that you're finally able to get one home and enjoy them, nevertheless.
