  1. Hi Arky, QSC? I never would have thought of a laptop fan. Good idea to ponder. Funny, I was just looking at them the other day at OD[] I am not sure if they would be slender enough to fit under the chassis. Something else that crossed my mind is if using a fan wont you be forcing dust into the cooling vents, over time I would think this would be a very bad thing. hmmm?
  2. Still lovin da' Yammy!!! I am pretty impressed with its performance. Makes the RF's sing! I ended hooking the Velodyne back up though. Did not think I was going to need it at first but seemed like something was missing? There was plenty of bass, dont get me wrong. It vibrated dishes from thier shelves. I put the sub back in and wallaaa! that was the missing link. Now to begin my search for a CD player. My oh my, it never ends does it[:S] Good idea Dennie, I will look into a fan.
  3. Hey thanks Frzninvt, I was a little worried with such an old piece of equipment. The thing looks like it just came from the show room floor but the fact remains it is 25 years old. Your full explanation is much appreciated. Have a wonderful day! Matt
  4. After several days of use of my new M-80 I have noticed excesive heat. I use my system while watching TV as well as listening to music. While listening at low volume levels is where my concern lyes. The amp has auto class A switch. With auto A on is when I notice the heat (low volume level). If I turn auto A off the heat dissipates. Now, when I am listening to music at high levels the amp gets warm but does not seem excessive what so ever, normal. My question is do I need to be concerned about the heat while watching TV? Should I turn off auto A while listening at low levels (to avoid heat)? Always leave auto A off/on? I have switched between the two (on/off) and have not noticed any sound quality differences, both at low and high volume levels. I am not sure what to think of this and would appreciate any advice. Thanks, Matt
  5. Is this what your beauty looks like?
  6. Hello there Tom, I used to run the very same reciever. I found it to be quite reliable and enjoyed the sound. I had it hooked up to my RF-7's for a short time and it performed flawlessly. I think it would work great for a simple surround system. I sold it to a friend of mine and he loves it. Matt
  7. Hmmm? that is a little odd. I could have sworn that CD's turned a lot faster than that. Once again, proven wrong... After a few hours of play time my new amp is proving everything I had hoped. I dont even need a subwoofer any longer. FOR SALE: Velodyne Impact 12/Adcom 5400 [Y][][8][*]
  8. Its been fun playing around with the new toy. The pictures dont come close to showing the actual beauty of the beast. Oh, and I like how you put it "250 wpc, you will be good for awhile".
  9. hmmm? seems a little small, better than nothing? i am not happy with that pic aaarrrrgghhh again[:S]
  10. ok, that did not take long. I live where I work. both good and bad I will go back and see if I can get that picture over to here

  13. wooahooo! Im in the pocket of the sun!!!! Dennie, how do I load a pic into reply? Yea, I will watch the hearing, sometimes just gotta crank it though. The Adcom pre works perfect with the new addition.. Luckily I dont have a sound meter. what was that? did you hear something.[]
  14. Well all, I dont know where to begin. 1st, replaced Adcom 5400 with Yamaha M-80. The seller on e-bay described the M-80 as "top shelf" equipment in "excellent" condition. Upon arrival it took me 30 minutes to get the thing open to inspect he had so much bubble wrap on it and in three different boxes. Wanna talk about excitement. After many layers the Yammy finally revealed itself. WOW!!! I was in utter amazement. There is not one ding, scratch, or noticeable flaw anywhere to be found. Both inside and out. This thing is in pristine condition and looks like it just came straight from the factory. Man, you want to talk about the energy surrounding me now. I had to stand back for a moment to take it all in before proceeding. Somehow I managed to be careful and take my time breaking down the old and installing the new monster. Powered it up and waited a second. OK, first try the radio. Hey, I made some noise, good! Holly cow, those big red meters are beatiful. Man, this thing weighs a ton and its pretty (has lipstick, as my brother in law puts it) Maiden voyage. The Police, greatest hits. This has always been my goto when giving first runs with audio. At first I was a bit miffed. I turned the volume knob about half way (to where the Adcom would begin to clip), The thing sounded horrible. I did not know quite what to think. I cranked the gains all the way up and tried it again. Still not the punch of the old Adcom. I thought this can not be right. So I continued to slowly bring the volume up. Oh my!!! I got it up to about 7-8 and nearly piddled on myself. I thought now this is what the RF-7's have been missing. Some fine tuning and balance and this thing just came alive... Let me tell ya, I believe a sleeping monster has awakend. My Klipsch are (sorry neighbors) singing like they never had. I knew from the very first time listening to them in the local sound shop I had stumbled upon something great. Paired with the Yammy is pretty exciting. It feels like I just got a whole new studio. I am not sure what album to put in next. My entire collection just became new again. So far Ive ran Police, Yes, and Peter Garbriel through it. It sounds incredible. Hmmm? what next. I think The Starlight Mints are next on deck. Thanks for all your help guys!!! My system is incredible. Next I am going to need your help in finding a good CD deck. I hope you have a wonderful evening and weekend![] Had to come back and edit. Went down to the kitchen and found some dishes lying on the floor. I wonder how those got there[^o)]
  15. woooahooo!!! Yea, I am getting a little excited myself. I can tell already if it arrives early morning, Matt wont be getting much work done[] I will post complete updates tomorrow evening. Thanks for your help guys! I was pretty sure the Adcom would work but needed to check. Darnit' I might even have trouble getting to sleep tonight. Well, until tomorrow. Have a wonderful night!
  16. Hey guys/gals, my new Yamaha M-80 amp arrives tomorrow. Will I have any problems controlling it with my Adcom GTP-502? Thanks for your help!
  17. Nuggets, ooppps, probably my fault...I hope you have a wonderful day[^o)]
  18. No Sugar Shack, I live in Columbia, Missouri. We do have a Gorham St. though...I am not sure of any Madison or Marvel near by. I have lived here all my life, love it. I am a pretty outdoors person and there are endless possibilities for adventure here. Although, my Klipsch have managed to keep me pretty entertained this winter. Is Columbia the area that you meant?
  19. Matt lives in good ol' Central Missouri, dont make it out east often. If I go east it will be N. Carolina. Hit the mountains and not leave. I just remember how much work was involved in spinning vinyl from when I was a kid. Thanks for the info. I dont know any one around here that could turn me onto some quality vinyl sounds. I really dont know anyone else around here into high end audio. you guys are my current information besides the local shop and it always costs me a bit o change every time I walk thru the door.
  20. There's always something around to be amazed about. Sometimes, dont even have to look. I am still having a hard time understanding why you guys are playing with those big black frizbees. The tube amps, now I understand that. Is it just because you can? Am I missing out on something? No offense please, I just dont get it.
  21. Coming soon to a Thread near you!!! Adcom and Yamaha duke it out. [8o|] .............wagers anyone?.............
  22. I like the way John has put it. The M-80 will blow the Sadcom away. I like the idea that the predator has now become the prey...
  23. Thanks for the opinions guys! I am very much looking forward to compare the two amps. From what everyone has said it seems I am going to be pleasantly suprized. I just hope my old spakling holds to the walls[Y] I will be back in to give updates. I hope everyone has a wonderful day[8]
