  1. Tell me what you guys think about this EV/ Altec adaptor, http://cgi.ebay.com/Altec-33710-1-4-driver-2-horn-throat-adapter-EV-JBL_W0QQitemZ350264829879QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVintage_Electronics_R2?hash=item518d6927b7#ht_543wt_1167
  2. look at this , would it work backwards for a DH1A on an Altec horn? Joey, please give me a shout about the aftermarket diaphragms please. can we do a credit card or paypal? http://cgi.ebay.com/Altec-33710-1-4-driver-2-horn-throat-adapter-EV-JBL_W0QQitemZ350264829879QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVintage_Electronics_R2?hash=item518d6927b7#ht_543wt_1167
  3. put some handles on them and the pro line is back.
  4. And you really only need 100 watts per channel
  5. After much lost sleep. I have decided to sell this pair of KP-301 speakers, One has a broken binding post, and one has a small broken piece one one of the 1/4" connectors. You can see in the pics. I bought these used in 1997 with a pair of KP-115SW subwoofers. I am thinking about reloading the 115's with 1000 watt Eminence because I like the weight and size of the cabinet, I would consider selling them though. I only have 1 pic of the 115's right now, as they are in the truck, but i can take more this weekend. Those 3002's on top of the 115 are here too. I use the 3002's a lot now, but I will also consider selling them. Anyway, back to the KP-301's. They work and sound great and have given me several years of pro service, I replaced them with the 3002's this year and haven't used them since. How about $500 for the pair?
  6. Mr bright side says..I think the "Hillshire Farms" special editions are intentionally 1/8" different. very rare. This is like finding the stamp with the upside down airplane on it! My LCD TV has one bad pixel, if you stare straight at it from 5" away you can see it on a black screen. take one step back and it's gone. No one else knows it's there, But It drives me crazy If you try to do everything with excellence, it drives you batty when other pepole don't. Once when I was very young, I got a hostess cupcake with no cream in the center! I don't remember this, but Mom says I flipped out. My mom wrote a letter and got me a whole free box! (we still buy those cupcakes 38 years later) I think if Klipsch sent you some free T-shirts, I mean golf shirts, I mean a jacket, you could put on your jacket, put this behind you, and enjoy the sound and veneer more, and they get free (good) publicity and good customer relations. those are absolutely beautiful, and I bet they sound great, but I understand really. Can I have a jacket too? XL please.
  7. Another great thing about the Crown XTI...... MADE IN THE USA! And it has a USB port, free software, 4 equalizers, 2 delays, 2 crossovers, And you can control it from your computer. I really like those amps. The smallest version is about $300
  8. those aren't my deltamax speakers, I just downloaded a pic online so you could see them.
  9. I want the EV Deltamax horns. The horns used in theater applications are huge. designed so that the horn sits on top of the low end speakers, I want the smaller deltamax so I can intstall the drivers and horns inside the cabinet for portability.
  10. I haven't tried the S1000 but I have had horrible luck with all Samson gear. (this is in pro audio situations only) I have also had horrible luck with a lot of behringer gear too, but the Behringer EUROPOWER amps are very reliable. They stole the design from the QSC RMX series, (that's what they do, copy designs)but I think it's dead on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYPKJkofO6s A behringer EP 1500 would be in this price range. I have several of the EP2500 amps which are used every single day for up to 12 hours and I have never had any problems with them. And they have been installed for at least 4 years now. The only Behringer equipment I recommend are these amps and the DCX 2496 loudspeaker processor.
  11. I just recently acquired a couple of these, but I have no horns for them yet, so I haven't used them . They are supposed to be some of the greatest compression drivers available. Used in lots of movie theatre systems in the 80's and 90's I think you would probably love them in a home set up here is a spec link. hope this helps. http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/STARINMANUALS/Bosch%20-%20EV/DH1A,%20DH1A-16.pdf
  12. I just repaired several Altec 515 woofers this way. I cut up coffee filters and used speaker glue from parts express. I think the rolling paper is a good idea because it's so thin, and with the leftovers.... Hey, do you think Mr. Colter just had those papers laying around, or did he have to buy them for the project? I tried sniffing the glue....just kidding My friends and I can only enjoy coffee and music with my leftovers. Here is a link for the glue. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=340-076
  13. I need a pair of diaphragms for the 288b. I have read that the 288b needs to be modified to accept a modern replacement diaphragm. Do you guys know of a drop in replacement? or what is the actual modification? I also have a set of EV DH1A Drivers I could use if i had an adaptor from the ALTEC 3 bolt pattern to the EV 4 bolt pattern. I just want them to work in a modern application where they could be easily replaced in the field if needed. Any suggestions? I have done a little research, but I would like a really quick and dependable fix. I just need the vintage look of the ALTEC horns with a modern performance for this application.
  14. Thanks so much I will cross them over at 1k. Thanks again.
  15. HI. I would like to use a pair of old Altec 288b drivers on Altec 805 horns in a live performance situation. I notice that the drivers are 24 ohm impedance. what amp sould I use? I would like to use a modern amp, if i wire these in parallel mono I will be at 12 ohms. the amps I have are rated for 8 ohms. Also these are rated at 40 watts each, so all of my amps may be too large. I plan on using a digital crossover from 500HZ to 10,000HZ. and one side of an an EV p1200 amp I think the drivers had crossovers at one time , but I don't have them. just wanted to see if anyone was already doing this, and which amps were being used. Thanks
  16. This was from another thread. My 3002's are 500 watts not 400 though http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/storage/3/1259063/KP-302.pdf
  17. Iv'e heard more than 1 person say that they love the Selenium drivers. McCauley is a great product, probably cost/worth more than the Eminence too. one of my grills is actually split and has a crack in the metal! I have no idea, but something sharp must have hit it pretty hard. no damage to the speakers though.I doesn't look too bad. I painted mine too.
  18. I would love to hear them bi-amped, and use the crossover from a digital crossover, like a dbx driverack. I'm using mine live in about 10 days on top of my KP-115sw's. I'll use the 3002's full range with the Klipsch crossovers. I'm running the subs off of a seperate amp and digital crossover, I will also go through the Klipsch crossovers on the subs just because they are there, I'll probably just send from about 45hz to about 150hz to the subs.
  19. Same component, same place! i only had to heat it up with a soldering iron, now it works great. I'm going to pull out the other one tomorrow to see if that one will do the same thing. In the 5th and 9th pics that you posted the part labeled CBB61 is different on yours than it is on mine.On mine that part looks like a larger version of the part in front of it. yellow and rounded. Has yours been replaced? does one of your cabinets sound different than the other?
  20. I am having the same problem with a pair of 3002's I bought a few weeks ago. I don't think they had been used in a few years. I fired the first one up no horn, just a little more volume, horn comes on and stays on all day. Speaker #2 I fired it up no horn, a little more volume, horn pops on , but this one is intermittant. at high volumes it works good, but it cuts out at low volumes I pulled out the crossover, but it looks good. Im going to use your pics. to troubleshoot mine, so thanks. Thoughts?
  21. What you Should have to do first, is... carefully tranfer all 10,000 songs to cassette tape. Then, throw those all away and replace them with CD's of the original albums. Buy all the CD's .then take the songs you like, and put those on cassette tapes. Wait 10 years. Throw away cassette tapes. Buy car with CD player. Burn Cd's of all your favorite songs from original CD's. wait 6 years. tranfer all your favorite songs into your computer (in mp3 format) buy 9,000 more songs, then convert them to FLAC. listen to your real favorites on vinyl through vintage equipment. The End.
