  1. You're on your way, you still have a chance to curb it.
  2. Will Watco Rejuvinating Oil darken the the wood? I used Watco natural (the name escapes me now) and it darkened the Forte II, not happy.
  3. Hi Chris Welcome to the forum. Ok, it's late & way past my bed time but here's a couple of things to think of. Possibly the brass z shaped connectors on the back of the HIIIs have a plastic cover that wasn't removed. And what happened to me (a few years ago) when I was stripping some new speaker wires I was sure I had gotten all the plastic off but NO there was a very thin layer still covering it I was getting intermiten sound problems just like your describing. Ben
  4. Thanks for the link Chad, I changed cookies to prompts.
  5. I've noticed that, too. AahHah!! So I'm not going crazy. Ok then i'll take the 10lbs sledgehammer away from the computer and put it back in the garage.
  6. When I sign out it appears that all went well but when I take a look an hour later I'm still signed in. I've been trying to sign out all weekend this is not the first time it happened here. Ben
  7. I say go have a listen. I have a set of 1969 15 in dual concentric monitor gold in home built cabnets they sound excellent.
  8. I saw this at a yard sale for $50 all in working condition, I checked it out for about a 1/2 hour. It has a big fold out sheet of schematics and owners manual with it. http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/grundig_ks_650_u_ks650u_console.html When I read the specs 7 watts out per side I thought it should work ok with Klipsch speakers. On the back it has the din plugs for external speakers. Now I don't know if this design of amp (what ever it is, push pull?) would be worth all the trouble of setting it up as a stand alone stereo. This receiver is also sold as the stereomeister 300. Any thoughts. Thanks, Ben.
  9. Welcome to the Klipsch forum i didn't notice you were new here. I am sure that the cf4's sound and look great but i am going to pass on these. You should listen to them again who knows maybe your wifes hearing has changed and you'll get to keep them. Here is a link on how to post pictures. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/146759.aspx Thanks, Ben.
  10. Sean33 What are they finished in oak/cherry... Are you in P.G? i'm in the Okanagan valley. Which version are they.
  11. Check out the 3 lb 10,000 calorie quadruple bypass burger at Heart Attack grill. http://www.heartattackgrill.com/ I would think it beats a mcrib any day.
  12. She told me the numbers on the mid are k55v and the tweeter is k77 the crossover is type b she didn't want to start taking it apart to look at the woofer. the lower cabinets are mdf. hmmm... a bon fire lets see... hot dogs, marshmelows, hot chocolate, warm up the winter day and keep somebody else from being suckered into thinking that these are the real thing. If these are still around the next time i drive down there (only a 5 hour drive) i'll see if i can get them for parts. Thank you everyone for your replies, it helps to keep me from second guessing.
  13. I just thought of something... couldn't most of the parts inside be used to build a Cornscala. That's if i can buy these so called Khorns for say $200, they are asking 2,600 obo [:|] at the estate sale. Thanks, Ben.
  14. Before i posted i clicked preview, only what i type here shows, no picture in it. So i'll try it anyway.
  15. I'm inquireing about some Khorns forsale (not a member). I've asked for serial number and pictures, they can not find any tages on the backs and are sending ipone pics (the useual blurry ones) The (blury) pic of the front has a pattern like oak or walnut, they say they have the useual small scratches and dents nothing mager. (Life is like a box of chocolates) Another pic of the back, a little clearer, to me it sure looks like mdf there is no grain or small knots in the wood and long glue runs (slopy). Next pic of back, there is a k55v (round cover on the driver) can't make out the tweeter BUT the tweeter is mounted beside the mid horn sideways like the Speakerlabs. They said the only numbers they could find are type b that was another very blurry pic of the crossover. The crossover is also mounted in the center directly under the mid driver. I'm thinking somebody took a set of cornwalls apart and put it into a speakerlab cabinet because the type b crossover was not used in khorns or am i wrong. Any help desifering this would help my desision to buy them. I don't know how to include the pics from my email. Thanks
  16. And i thought i had it bad with 5 pair, look at my avatar.
  17. Hi Moray I've been listening to them for a few days now in the very cluttered garage standing about 8 feet from them they have a muffled sound like a rag is stuffed in the horns compared to my forte IIs, the bass is okay concidering i've only got an early 80's 90watt pch technics int amp and a cheap cd player hooked to them now. I don't want to take my Luxman M-02 and C-02 out there, i have them running my forte IIs. I know, i can change caps or go with titainium diaphragms, i had the same sound from my heresy IIs i changed the caps in one cabnet and listened to them and couldn't hear an improvment. I do have a 1963 Dynaco st70 all original, Sony strv6, Nikko nr1219 that i can try but they need work first. Thanks, Ben.
  18. I finished checking the second one and only found dust bunnys and spider webs the DCR was also 3.7, i said earlier they are K33e well they're K33 with AL crossovers. Neil (DizRotus) when i saw that there were only 4 screws (T-nuts) holding the woofer i thought the samething but i'm going to leave it as is if there is any sign of rattleing then i'll put 4 more in. Thank you Gary and Schu for your compliments i had been keeping an eye open for about 5 years for some like this, there were lots of black ones or really rough ones, these are from original owner and all stock. How tite should the squaker be? i could loosen them with useing just thumb and one finger (very very little effort) is there a certain amount, say from contact give it another 1/16 of a turn? Thanks, Ben. Ahh! somehow i hit the italics and can't turn it off, and lost the spacing function. Oh yeh??.... a few more hair just fell out.
  19. No problems with them just makeing sure there were no critters living between the motor board and woofer i couldn't get a mirror in there from the front good enough to see. Thanks, Ben.
