watched it last night too. it is great movie, one of the best movies of this year. my set up is incomplete, I'm missing subwoofer, but I'm working on it and my first decent sub (BIC F-12) should be araving shortly. but even without sub my F-3 and RC-62 were pushing alot of air. my kid was very exited, wife-almost pissed off.

I hope so...will do professional "newbie" review as soon as I'll test my new toy.

I had my F-3's for 5 years, recently bought RC-62II and had Chorus II for 5 years and few other towers before that, went through one Sony, one Yamaha and two Pioneer receivers but would call myself a newbie or person with very limited HT experience anyway. Never owned decent sub, I used 8” Sony and some Yamaha sub for some time but never liked their sound. I’ve heard Klipsch Sub-10, and Sub-12 a lot and prefer sub-12 sound, to me it sounds better, kind heavier and cleaner but sub-10/12 AMP issues scares me to death. BIC sub comes with 5 years warranty vs no warranty if I would go with used Klipsch. Many reviewers comparing Sub-12 to BIC F-12 and Polk PSW505 (my second choice) and vast majority of them agreed that Sub-12 is a bit better performer vs F-12 but F-12 is much better choice for HT vs PSW505, especially considering $220-250 price tag and warranty. I could've get BIC PL-200 which is (according to many) better for music and movies than Sub-12, but it would be too big, too powerful for my set up and at $300-320 bit pricey for me. I’ve seen new Polk PWS505 for $200 and even missed one on CL for $120 (at least owner was stating that sub is brand new). For $120 I would go with Polk, but for for $200 I’ve decided to get F-12. Cheapest Sub-12 I’ve seen on CL was $200 and I wasn’t even considering used Sub-10, like I said sub-10/12 AMP issues steered me away from used Klipsch subs.

how about Ask Proxima M6? too old? my buddy selling his stuff and got his projector for sale. less than 50 hrs on the lamp, nice and clean. I belive he wants $100.

oops...all reviews I've seen stating that BIC make extremely good producr for the $$$. I still can cancel my order. should I? yeah, they say Pl-200 is great sub, but I really don't need wall shaker and wouldn't fell comfy to spend more than $200.

don't kick me too hard please but after missing special on RW-12d and brand new Polk PWS505 for $120 on local CL I've decided to get brand new BIC America F-12. Good specs, great reviews, I like design and price ($200 +free shipping).

ok. thanks alot Youthman. my insulation look different but I'm pretty comfident noe that it is factory stuff.

my buddy had a pair of F-1 and was trying to sell them. some guy came and after testing them said they dont sound right because somebody added insulation… guy bought speaker anyway but said that he going to pull that foam out as soon as he gets home. I looked inside of my F-3’s which I bought used and was really surprised to see dark grey foamy insulation (looks like packing foam to me [*-)]) lining bottom and back wall of the cabinet as far as I can see, at least 4-6” above the crossover module. Is it suppose be there? Never disassembled large tower speakers and google didn’t help much either so I still have no idea if that insulation in my F-3’s is factory or not. If it is not factory do I need to remove it or it doesn’t really affect anything?

Never had sub before and not really looking to make whole room shaking, but want to add little bit more lows so even something small should be enough for me. Two of my buddies owned Sub-10 and both of them went bad within few years. I also see alot of non working Sub-10 for sale. I know that Synergy Sub-12 is very capable, would perfectly match my F-3's and will easily provide enough “BOOM” but I would prefer something more reliable and less powerful to something less reliable and more powerful. So, is Sub-12 pretty reliable or both Sub-12 and Sub-10 got same issues? What would you pay for 3-4 years old Sub-12? Owner wants $220.

where exactly are going? are planning to be around OK, TX? and are you looking to sell your RC-62II? how much?

I would try to stain it. tell your frend to go to HD or Lowe's and pick up few different black stains. use rubber gloves and soft rag to apply stain and wipe off eccess in 3-5 min.

that too. my first big speakers were Fisher. then Fisher againg. they sounded good and looked decent. and then I bought my first Klipsch. they were Chorus II -huge, heavy, bulky -not exactly the best choice for small appartment, but they sounded better than anything else I ever heard. I even took them with me when I moved to TX. 9 years later I still like klipsch badge better than any other one.

would love to buy new one, but decided to live with it. yeah, I've spent few HRS on google and Klipsch Forum and looks like Reference Series woofers are unreparebal due to material properties- "zero" memory ceramic material...

I'm not exactly an audiophile, well audiophile with limited resources and had few different options for the center channel over past years and should tell you that center channel cannot be too big but easily can be too small. My fronts are F-3, my previous center was C-2 and it felt too weak. Before I tried some Polk Audio-don’t remember model but it was bigger than C-2 and it sounded better, now I got RC-62 and I absolutely love the sound. Not only you can set x-over for bigger center lower, but you actually can put your TV on top of the larger cabinet. So I would suggest to get matching or smaller fronts. My receiver is 100 or 110x5 and even when I feel "wild" I never turn it more then 60% up, so 80W per channel will be plenty.

Thanks for advice guys. I’m gonna keep xo at 80, just to be safe, and center set to “large”. I used small, I believe 8" Yamaha sub for some time, and sure felt more "boom" but for some reason I like "unsubwoofered" sound bit better. it just feels more realistic to me. I would like to ger pair of big Reference towers someday which will give me little more bass, but for now F-3 should do it. I bought them right, they in perfect condition and I love their design alot. Off topic question: both RC-62 woofers have small light (dime or even smaller sized very shallow soft edged) dents. Original owner not even sure how woofers got dented and saying that nobody ever touched the speaker. Well, he probably lying, anyway I traded pretty old laptop for the speaker and feel very good about this deal. Any way to fix them or at least make them to look even less noticeable? Usually I keep grills on but occasionally take them off and these dents bother me a bit. Didn't find much about it, most people saying that Reference woofers can not be fixed due to material properties.

I've been told more than once that I do need sub. and some day most likely I'm gonna get one. But which surround speakers would you suggest to leave, SS-1 or SS.5? they both can handle frequensys above 80HZ, or leve SS-1 and set x-overto 50 Hz?

Hello guys. I just bought RC-62II and both woofers got light dents. Dime sized or even less, soft edges, very shallow. Pretty sure it does not affect performance anyhow, but I still would like to fix them. I searched “how to fix dents” but all that I’m getting is how to fix dents on dust cups. Any idea how to fix dents on actual woofers? Heat gun? Push from inside? I believe RC woofers are ceramic, is it even possible to do anything to make them look better besides swapping woofers? Howdy everyone. Just recently I got decent center channel (RC-62II) and should say I’m impressed. For some time I’ve been using pair of SS.5 as center, then C-2 but even with boosting center channel level output from receiver it didn’t sound right. In addition even though timbre wise C-2 matched my F-3 better than RC-62II, I never liked design of the Synergy II center channels. Now I’m using F-3 as fronts, RC-62II as center and SS-1 as surround. Watched “Avengers” yesterday once more and like I said above absolutely impressed with my center channel. I’m not using any sub, just don’t really like very low sound and vibration. My receiver (Pioneer VSH-819H) gives me few options for small speaker’s x-over frequency: 50, 80, 100 and 120Hz. RC-62 pushing 57-20 and SS-1 65-20Khz. I also have pair of SS.5 with 77-20Khz frequency response. Currently my receiver set up is: front F-3 and center RC-62 speakers as large and SRS SS-1 as small, x-over set to 80. Do you think it is the best possible setting in my situation or should I set RC-62 as small too? Another option to set RC-62 and SS-1 as small and set x-over to 50Hz. I don’t want to lose any frequency but would like to use center channel at full capacity and hear as much as possible from it. One more question: since SS-1 frequency response is 65-20 and SS.5 frequency response is 77-20 and they both capable to produce frequencies above 80Hz does it make sense to set x-over on receiver to 80Hz keep SS-1 and sell SS.5 or keep SS.5 and sell SS-1? I’m not sure if bigger surround channels gonna benefit sound somehow. Thanks for any suggestions.
