  1. Howdy. Haven't posted here in a long time, but just recently I upgraded my fronts from F-3 to RF-82ll and while I'm more than satisfied with my fronts and center, I'm not sure about my surrounds. Before I changed the fronts my Pioneer's MCACC was setting fronts(F-3) as Large and center RC-62 ll and surround SS-1 as Small. No idea why MCACC was setting the RC-62ll as Small, but it is what it is. For some movies I was switching the RC_62 to Large manually, but in most cases it stayed as Small per MCACC. Since the SS-1 can't handle frequencies below 60Hz and the only crossover frequency setting my amp has is 120/80/50 Hz my Small speakers were set at 80Hz. After I hooked up the RF's I reran MCACC a few times and in both cases to my surprise MCACC set the RC-62ll as Large. Now, I love my SS-1's very much because they are in perfect like new condition and due to their size and shape look and fit great on the wall. What I want is something with lower frequency response, so I can drop the crossover network setting for the surrounds from 80Hz to 50Hz. There are a few different surround speakers on my mind (RS-3, RS-35ll, RS-52), but all of them have frequency response range starting at above 60Hz, so specs wise they will not let me to drop the crossover setting any lower. On top of that I'm not sure I'll feel these 10Hz of difference. I understand that RS would have matching timber to the RF's and RC, but as far as I know it's not that important with surrounds, as it important with fronts and center. So would the surrounds with lower frequency response make noticeable difference or I better keep my "vintage" SS-1's?
  2. Or see if you can get a RC-64.
  3. Try to find the RC-62ll. Just recently I've purchased a pair of the RF-82ll off CL, so now I have matching L/R and the center and I wouldn't go with anything smaller then the RC-62ll. Check your local CL every day, in DWF area I've seen RC-62 ll listed for as low as $200.
  4. Have anyone tried to search them on e-net? Looks like they are available for sale in EU and Asia only. Is it possible that these speakers intended for EU market only? All newer Klipsch speaker I've ever heard of or seen in Europe were made in China, but even Chinese made Reference speakers are very unaffordable and due to that reason are not really popular in EU, so is it possible that Klipsch is trying to popularize Reference by making this “cheaper” and more affordable reference for EU market? Fairrly cheap Icon cabinets + Reference drivers for a better sound = cheaper and more popular Reference for EU?
  5. Klipsch needs to pay attention to your comment. Is Klipsch considered somewhat exotic in Europe being an "American sound"? I know that SME turntables are "exotic" here and VPI turntables are exotic in Europe. It si amazing what transporting a product across the Atlantic can do to its sound quality. All "Euro" Klipsch made in China. I’m from EU and see no issues with back firing ports even in small apartments/rooms. If your room is not big enough for a pair of the large towers you won’t buy towers no matter if they are front or back ported. Get a pair of book shelf speakers and back ported book shelf speakers sound great even in small rooms. A lot of people in EU simply cannot afford Klipsch or don’t know enough about that brand and prefer better advertised or cheaper “Ikea quality” brands.
  6. x2 on the bigger center. You will notice more improvement from that than you will from adding the rear speakers. The RC-3ii was a Huge improvement over the C-2 I had. The jump from that to the RC-7 was just as, if not more significant. since the RC-3ii is discontinued, i would look into the RC-52ii or RC-62ii... would either of these be okay and compliment the F-30 towers and S-20 surrounds? thanks all for the feedback so far! I got older Synergy F-3 (as far as I know F-3 and F-30 specs are identical) and RC-62II and IMO they match perfectly.
  7. x2 on the bigger center. You will notice more improvement from that than you will from adding the rear speakers. The RC-3ii was a Huge improvement over the C-2 I had. The jump from that to the RC-7 was just as, if not more significant. I never had 7.1 but RC-62II was the biggest and most noticeable improvement second only to upgrading old 8” Sony sub to a 12” BIC sub.
  8. How big is your room? I have pretty simmilar 5.1 set up and absolutely happy with it. IMO S-10 would work perfectly, but if I were you, I get a bigger center.
  9. you are right. but c-20 is a pretty weak center and looks weird in my opinion . I'm using RC-62II with F-3's and maybe because I don't know what to listen for or my ears are nor sensitive enough, I’m absolutely happy with my HT. RC-62 blows away all other center speakers I had before.
  10. there is a guy on ebay offering Klipsch sub repair service for a $1 + you paying for shipping. estimate is free and he would let you know exact cost of the repair after that. he quoted me $50-75 for RWS-10d amp, but I found a replacement sub for $90 and installed it myself. let me know if you interested, I'll get you a link for him.
  11. small and miniature velcro! easy to use and easy to undone and reuse if you need to rearrange something.
  12. I have 150W rated F-3 and 110Watt per channel Pioneer 819H and 9x12 room. when I feel "wild" and turn volume to 75-80 in stereo mode it still sounds extremely clean and crisp and breath very easy without any stress on woofers. but even at 50-55 it getting so loud that most people run out from the room. in 5.1 mode receiver pumping out a bit lees watts, but loudest I ever went when we were watching movie was 45 and usually volume stays around 37-38. I also seen some tests (posted links somewhere here on Klipsch forum) showing that Pioneer one of the most honest companies about output wattage and Pioneer output rating is pretty close to what receivers pushing out in reality.
  13. are you using RCA Y-splitter for your RW? plug it into L and R RCA line level jacks -use both jacks intead of Left only LFE jack.
  14. Very cool! Thanks for posting, unfortunately it doesn't look like any of my pics made the cut. I may have to boycott +1 didn't see any of my pics either. selling my Klipsch stuff and buying "all in the box" Sony HT as a protest! p.s. cool video!
  15. ^ just did. When I bought this sub I wasn't sure what exactly it need. Previous owner said that amp was bad, but it could have bad driver, control board or interface LCD or all the above. Cabinet also was not in the best shape. Got lucky with an amp and all damages got fixed up pretty well. Amp looks brand new, has "made in china" stamp, few test marks but no production date or Klipsch/Bash logo on it. Looks exactly like original amp though, just power supply looks different, I hope it’s a good thing and new amps are more reliable than old once.
  16. I calibrated after I was sure that amp works and turned gain up only to wake up my wife and kid. and turn gain back to innitial 3db after that.
  17. Scrappy is correct on this. No need to overdrive that new amp. The RSW-10d is one very punchy subwoofer and you will love it for music. It holds it's own pretty well for a "smallish" sub down to about 28Hz and then drops like a rock. Not the best extension for HT. As good as my Revel B15 and SVS SB13 Plus are as well rounded high quality subwoofers for music and HT, the RSW-10d is still the most musical of the bunch. Enjoy your new toy, Bill Thanks. Considering that I paid $50 for the sub, $100 for the amp, new cord and couple hrs for cleaning and fixing starches and few smashed corners I think I did well. LCD bezel got few scratches, so I'm planning to send it down and repaint it in grey to make it look better. Q: I tried to tight up all wires inside of the sub with Velcro, but they still have some slack and most likely would be moving inside of the cabined when drivers will be "jumping" in and out. Could it damage the Amp or connections? Any way to immobilize wires completely or it is not necessary?
  18. yaeh, you right and I did run MCACC, but I wanted to see what it capable of. I settled at 3db, might turn it down a bit later.
  19. Got my replacment amp yersturday and installed it this morning. We are "BOOMING"!!! RSW-10d is a monster! I've tried "punch" mode and turned it to 10db (11db is the max) and watched rubbits on my back got spooked by the sound of the magic beans growing and giant walking in the forest. one down side: in this setting RSW easily overpowering my HT, so I had to switch to "movie" and turn it down to 3db.
  20. To Moderators: Since we got our "Subwoofer" forum back, could you please move this thread to that forum? Thanks. p.s. I guess my request was placed a bit late... Thanks.
  21. don't really want to spend $300... waiting for my replacement amp...
  22. yes, I bought it on ebay. guy from Canada, selling bunch of Klipsch stuff. According to the listing amp is new/tested. I found no other amps for the RSW. I don't mind to wait, price was right ($90 shipped) and like I said I see no other amps for sale, not even used. I don't know how it shows that the above is my quote, but it isn't. Must be a glitch. yeap, it's a glitch. somehow I hit "quote" on the wrong reply...
