  1. Stack 'em! Wow---never thought of that! Do I dare try it? Has anybody on here done that? Would you put the top one upside down, so the tweeters are close together? Hmmmm
  2. Thanks so much for the advice! I have 2 pairs of Scalas right now---in all 4 corners of my living room. Was gonna sell one pair....but I love them both! They both date from 1976---one is the industrial black and the other is beautiful wood. Which is better: steak or roast beef? Cant decide!
  3. I have a pair of Industrial LaScalas (black, not split) and would like to get at the woofers. I assume you access them from the bottom--am I right? Is there anything I need to know about unhooking them? One of them seems to have developed a rattle on certain low organ notes, and I want to check it. Thanks!
  4. All of your comments were very helpful; I thank you all for taking the time to help me. Sending a special thanks to speakerfritz! --Tom
  5. lowest stuff I run through the system would be some pipe organ cds---no movies I like to run them at the level you would hear live; thats one of the things I love about the Scalas---they play loud without distortion...and...they sound electrostatic at low levels!
  6. I recently bought a pair of "professional" LaScalas (the black ones with the handles), and I'm using a Yamaha RXV2090 receiver with them. The Yamaha has a feature called "bass extension", which adds 7 db at 70 Hz. I have been using that feature, and I love how the Scalas sound with the added bass boost. My question is: could use of that boost cause problems for the woofer? I have been told probably not by a couple of Klipsch authorities, but I would love to get the opinions of some of you. Many thanks!
  7. Ah-Ha! A pic is truly worth a thousand words! Thanks very much, Islander!
  8. Many thanks for the explanation. I'm gonna have to read that over few times!
  9. I have had my 1979 Scalas for a few weeks now, and I love 'em---no updates yet--don't feel the need for any so far. Could someone tell me how the woofer works? Does it fire into the "V" and then out the space in the back? Its a bit of a mystery to me. Thanks.
  10. Don, my thanks to you and all who responded!
  11. Yes, as you suggest, I will try to rearrange things to accommodate shorter ics. My system -at the moment, anyway-is Modsquad passive dual volume linedrive (Steve M. modified); Janis crossover; Acoustat TNT 200 modified by Jim Strickland----and---my beloved LaScalas---and a couple of subwoofers made by a friend inside round builders tubes (sound awesome!)
  12. No, actually I mean between my active crossover and my amp---I was using some old Kimber and Monster, but with my new setup neither is long enough anymore.
  13. I need almost 4 meters of interconnect cables that will let my LaScalas continue to sound good. What do you guys like? I dont have a lot of $$ to spend on this.... Thanks.
  14. I will call them today and order their cable, based on your recommendation. If its at least as good as Anti-Cable, but easier to work with, I'll be happy! Many thanks to you and all the others!
