  1. internet has been on the fritz or I would have replied faster. get the 4.2 its better all around, I don't wanna explain it all, cuz I end up writing a book when I'm done. so just take my advice, its loud enough so don't worry about wattage, and its just diesel. get the 4.2 its worth the extra cash to have the indapendent lows. Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  2. After about a month and a half of not being able to get tho this site for some reason thanks to road runner, I can finally help. I am in the same setup as paragon. I have a live 5.1 though am using the 4.2 system, my winamp is 100%, in the live HQ the main is at 90%, in speakers its at 80%, and the windows is at 90%. if I get my speakers up to 12 0'clock position its just too damn loud, just a lil past that is where I made my ears bleed for the second time. so its not the speakers, unless you got a bum set. try and get a live value, though I prefer the x-gamer 5.1. so try punching yer windows volume, and if that still doesn't get results then get a live of some sort and the you WILL feel it, or you have a bum amp. Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  3. http://www.klipsch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ubbcount.cgi?expath1=Forum22&expath2=&topic=000120&type=&number=22 here is a link to my comparisons. twards the bottom you will find a novel I have written about the different systems, see it and be amazed. 4. careful with the transformer bit, not all of em work well. I took my altec lansing set with me and my computer to scottland and used a converter. thank god my altec set melted before my comp did. but seriously my altec sub and right speaker MELTED! no joke. was in the shower with em cranked. and I started hering popping and mad distortion then it just wasn't a song anymore, finally it went to a loud wailing sound then stopped working. the speakers were gone and the monitor and computer was off. the speakers melted and the power suply was blown and monitor, THANK god has a fuse that popped. so those adapters/transformers aren't worth the risk on blowing a klipsch set. hence why I brought my old altec lansing set. 5. go to radio shack, they have a solid ajustable set for 53.00, thats what I paid and my 4.2 is perfect with them ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  6. this has been sad. yall griping about crap that really doesn't matter. do the klipsch sound that bad that it makes you need to refir the entire wiring scheme? I doubt it. for the hell of it I redid it all with gold plating. noticable difference 0. I made $50 for selling the set with gold plating to a friend, idiot, and bought my 4.2 system that sounds the same as the system I sold with gold plating. its just not worth it to get no difference. Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  7. did this happen with yer old speakers? if not then it might be somthing with the connections. or possibly the speakers themselves. I dunno. I had the same prob, then changed out my sound card and it was perfect. reseat the sound card, unplug, check, then replug all the cables. if there is still the hissing then contact tech support Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  8. unscrew the case and find out. if the sound is stll top notch then put it in a baggy, tape it to the sub in case anything goes wrong. and just keep going. just take the speaker apart and check. Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  9. 4.2 all the way. its all about the second sub. I am a mad audio rager, I always have my hands into the audio world. just to set a few things strait that I'v heard in posts all around the pro media section: Monsoon VS Klipsch, klipsch better ajustable sound VS better synced sound. 4.1 VS 4.2: 4.2 all the way. with the small amound of amp difference you don't notice it at all. the sats on the 4.2 (which I now own) make my ears bleed and have been to the hospital twice (8 times total, but only twice with the klipsch). so the volume is NOT an issue. the subs both sound badass thanks to the side fire forward porting (another reason to go with klipsch over the monsoon). thanks to the dual subs you can have indapendent lows in the front and rear. this leds thunder rumble, not cracking thunder but the low rumbling, spread from rear to front with ease. NOBODY can say that the 4.1 can do that. for the slightly extra cash I have my X-gamer running the 4.2 system and making me shiver each time my computer starts up, using a friends ensamble piece that is a sound scape running from back right to front left with a brilliant display of highs along with rumbling lows. thanks to this setup I have a new design for my home theater I'm building. get the 4.2 you will never be happier, ever. there is nothing that can compare. soon to be comming is a dolby head unit to make myself a 5.2 system with a digital din out. so do yerself a favor and get the more versital 4.2 system, go to radio shack a get a lil extra cable, and get yerself a full surround indapendent lows/highs sound stage. as for automotive speakers that people have asked about then go to the post I just replied to. and the changing of wiring does nothing. I have full gold plating speaker wire I just used to rework my klipsch and was not worth the 1% inscrease I got. and this is the best cabe I could find. any other questions E-mail me, I'm just not able to get here often enough (tzimisce@nc.rr.com) Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  10. for component front speakers get the polk DX or EX combos. he rear I suggest the polk 4 way 6x9 or the 3 way 5x7 (depending on what type of setup you have. then again it also depends on what you want. polk is average for bass and trebble, want more bass get fosgate, want more highs get kenwood. all depends on yer wants. also get a good amp to include. fosgate power amps will rock everything, but they cost alot. kenwood is good and is slightly less. MTX is also great but they have wierd power ratings. I'd get the profile california jam series. as for subs JBL all the way. nothing comes close except fosgate and they are 250 more. get a strong amp to go with that too, maybe a bridged 2 channel us acoustics 200x2? ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  11. both 4.1 and 4.2 systems are badass. I own the 4.2 I got the 4.2 because I like having the second sub behind me and ONLY react to the lows behind me. even more realistic. the 4.1, nor the monsoon can do that. as for power output, come on. if yer gonna squabble about 15 watts or so with a computer system yer insane. my 4.2s make my ears bleed. the subs hav literally rocked stuff of shelves in the downstairs rooms. so I would do the 4.2, but you asked about 4.1 vs monsoon. if you are going to use it with DVD movies, then I HIGHLY suggest the 4.2 with the sub or rear lows. if yer just gaming or just music that does NOT use global positioning (each satelite indapendent) then get the 4.1 they CAN go louder, but mine makes my ears literally bleed, so why get more? spend the extra cash and get the 4.2. when I get my extra hub an a center channel I'll have a klipsch THX 5.2 system, fully indapendant. hope I have helped. E-mail me a tzimisce@nc.rr.com if ya need anything else. Torinalth
  12. yeah after I saw the other post about the radio shack ones I bought them and had em setup 30 min later thanks guys Torinalth
  13. I'm probably one of the very few fortunate enough to experience both systems. both systems are orgasmically crisp. getting down to the nitty gritty I am unable to give you which is better but I'll tell you what I'v heard and you can go from there. I'll start with the pro media. the klipsch pro medias are very very strong, a little larger than the monsoon system but still relativly small. size aside lets look at the satelites. the satelites on the klipsch are holding seperate woofer cone and high horn. this utilizes the seperation for less distortion from mids and highs. I'm plastered my 4.2 system with all types of music hoping it would crack and it keep it crisp and clear from the sats. this is one thing that the monsoon system does NOT have. the subs on the klipsch will give more of a kick with the side firing front porting design, this was found out while positioning my subs. you can also have alot more control of seperation from lows and highs. this can be a pro and a con. I'll explain why when I go over the monson speakers. the klipsch can get loud and still stay clear. I'm made my ears bleed before they distorted noticably. all in all a badass system. The monsoon system is NOT to be taken lightly. they are smaller but still punch HARD, plus they look fu.. ermm cool. the satelites are a lil more stylish and for overall looks monsoon takes it. with the planer design you are NOT able to seperate the highs and lows. when you play with the equalizer in winamp you will not get the responce that you would with the klipsch system. the satelites do compensate for that and give, in my opinion, a better filling effect. they give a good strong over all harmony and sync just slightly better than the klipsch. the sub on the monsoon is just designed wierd. the way its ported and firing twards the front is sloppily done. you have a god sub always firing down, if thats not possible then it has to be ported front and firing to the side, as klipsch does. woking the sound with the monsoon seems to blend better, but then again it always blends. if you wanna rock the pictures off the wall with the subs and not make your ears bleed then this is not your system. it will go up high without distorting, but klipsch system will do this better. both are very very clear and presice, if space is a problem monsoon is the way to go. if you just want overall kickass and my sub is bigger than your sub compettions then klipsch is the way to go. I ended up with the klipsch 4.2 system and soon will have it gonig through a custom built preamp to hold the two seperate sets as well as a center chanel to make a 5.2 system, yes more than dolby . like I said, if you are low on space then get monsoon, if you have the space and can get yer speakers setup in a good equal positioning then the surround performance will be better with the klipsch. it will also go higher and make your songs scream without the speakers screaming in pain. I love both systems but heard the monsoons after I bought my 4.2 system. I think I said earlier, though this is far to long to go back up and read, that I won't give my opinion. forget that. get the klipsch 4.1 system and get the other preamp as well. go to radio shack and get the 49.95 speaker stands and make your cmoputer scream. I forgot the deciding factor between klipsch and altec lansing, THX which means it stays clear and strong and surroud sound at MAD high levels of output. so yes get the 4.1, preamp, and radio shack speaker stands and thank me later. Torinalth damn this is long aint it
  14. I must agree, though mine was full price at 52.99 (thats with tax)I believe that the stands are sturdy and fit very well goes great with my 4.2 system thanks to the SBlive X-gamer 5.1 I'm getting a new head unit and a center chanel. klipsch goes 5.2, heh dolby eat yer heart out. Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
  15. I just got my 4.2 system in the mail yesterday and need a pair of speaker stands for the rear. thing is I blew my cash on the speakers and have very very little to spend on stands. everything I find is either small or to expensive. looknig to spend no more than 60 total and need stands around 3 feet in height. maybe 42" can anyone help? oh and I can't build for anything Torinalth ------------------ if at first you don't succede, try again. if at second you don't succede, get an axe
