  1. Make sure nobody points to successes. Yes a lot of failures also though considering what is going on, I haven't heard anything better other than stay locked in your house and the would will get past this. Yup, no food, no anything.... Can't have it both ways. I'd really like a true number vs. "contributed to" which is sketchy at best. People die daily without the virus. Let's look at the death rate with the virus vs without. Might be flat year to year which might tell you something. Too bad we couldn't filter out all the killings that are occurring in these cities not wanting to get things under control and are using these other scapegoats and the virus to justify what is happening. Without these killings, we might actually see less death from than normal from the virus except for in a few months, those people that didn't get treated for ailments during the lock down dying.
  2. You're right there. Austin isn't near as bad?? but I'm not sure we've see it all. Huge parties are helpful. https://communityimpact.com/austin/lake-travis-westlake/coronavirus/2020/06/26/following-party-that-saw-covid-19-positive-attendees-lakeway-mayor-urges-social-responsibility/
  3. No, say it isn't so. Figures Houston..... helping TX get locked down again. Wait for all the other states. We might have a real pandemic on our hands. DOH 😮
  4. Of course the protesting has not contributed to the rise. It has to be the partying.
  5. Makes too much sense. If you can stop even 50%, then we should. Just be smart on when it is needed and when the mask is not. We don't want more accidents because people aren't getting enough oxygen.
  6. Case in point: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/lewis-county-sheriff-calls-residents-who-follow-gov-inslees-coronavirus-mask-requirement-sheep/
  7. Well don't want the flames coming out from the "anti-mask" folks but yes 100% agreement, that's seems to be the best mitigation technique we have that is very easily implemented. I always say something "kind of" under my breath when I walk past someone without a mask in a Costco, Walmart, or other stores. I think these folks believe they are making a point. I just can't believe they are that ignorant, particularly when they are cruising through even with their early teens, probably trying to make a point... The point is until you try to slow this down again, you are just helping crush us again.
  8. Hate to say you need to wear a mask but... everyone who can not stay a reasonable distance from others really must wear a mask. I'm not sure that stay in place really matters. It is mostly the folks that don't want to stop their respiration output to be impeded. I firmly believe that will stop a significant portion of the transfer but there are too many fools that still continue to walk around in close proximity in the stores (not counting protests) without facial coverings. I agree we'll eventually be exposed but lets get the world back in order and lower the infection rate numbers to less than the flu so we can all get on with life until there is a better mitigation.
  9. Yes the world is a mess. People think they have the right to harass anyone because they "have just cause". The problem is that if the pendulum swings the other way, they change their tune. I don't agree with everyone's views on what they are doing to attack the virus but I formulate my opinion and leave it. The people that do this really don't know why they do it. More of a GROUP THINK and herd mentality vs. personal rationalization and justification. Sad these people can't just leave these folks alone. it will all come out in the end (hopefully).
  10. Better than throwing something else up against the wall but you are definitely right. Perhaps all that sticks may solve 50-60% of this. That would be nice other than you hope what they throw at you will work when the time comes, if it comes.
  11. Incorrect assumptions for analysis. Only one assumption, there is a spike, must be the reopening. Better go back to lockdown mode to slow the spread... a um and crush the economy. Then we can add all the collateral damage on top of the coronavirus deaths when the postmortem is done. They have already figured out that people don't do good in lockdowns and are very unhappy leading to alcohol and drug use, depression, and death. The people recommending it have ulterior motives.
  12. Testing has also skyrocketed so we probably need to be careful and wait on the actual numbers that get in trouble with it (not that those numbers are very helpful but..). On the positive side, it looks like we are well into the "learning phase" for treatment. Cases continue to go up but death rate continues to go down. Either we are learning something or the virus is losing it's virility. One could wish.
  13. I think there is so much happening at this point in time, all you can do is protect yourself as much as possible. I firmly believe you can't control this nor shut down the world for a year or two (particularly if the vaccine only helps say 25% of the people). Life has to run it's course.
  14. No one seeks out a diagnostic test for COVID-19 unless they are showing symptoms. Why would they? The people getting tested now are the same ones that were getting tested before - the obviously sick ones. So, if there is more testing, it is because there are more sick people - those who are symptomatic. Remember, before more testing was available, those with COVID like symptoms were just declared positive and treated as such. Asymptomatic people are for the most part avoiding being tested because of the hassle associated with a positive test result. I did the antibody test because I’m teleworking. I may be stuck at home, but I’m being paid. A positive test result wouldn’t have impacted my pay. Most don’t have that luxury. Well, just looking at two hot states and people that THINK they have symptoms but.... TX 1,463,851 tests given and 87,854 positive - Just 6% positive so 94% THINK they have it. TX 1,409,992 tests given and 75,568 positive - Just 5.3% positive so 94.7% THINK they have it. So the answer is YES to your first point. Not a good hit ratio so i wouldn't focus on this for the premise.
  15. Yup, everyone loves a little peaceful protesting, sprinkled with a little rioting, looting, and death while being crammed together like sardines. Definitely helped the cause to stifle the virus. We we worried about the people on the beaches early on with spring break. That didn't seem to materialize but we better watch now. I hope I'm wrong.
  16. Pretty sad, for him and the story itself. Seeing the second picture, they are blaming all the stuff like diabetes on COVID (If I read the article right) but being 16 and that size, if you don't have it, you will soon. Likely most underlying conditions would not have been known if he was let to get to that size. Likely didn't go to the doctor or get a physical to help resolve the problems he had. Bad and sad all the way around. Yes you have to take a little responsibility since the current culture is "Everything is done to me" vs. "I can take control".
  17. When we exhale, we produce carbon dioxide as a byproduct. Without this vital exchange, our cells would quickly die and leave the body to suffocate. Since the lungs process air, they are the only internal organs that are constantly exposed to the external environment. We need to hold our breath more.
  18. How was that scientific when it was an observational study. Anyone thinking that and reading past the first little bit of it should have known better. You are right about control but you miss one key point, it is also about self promotion and power. A lot of interesting stuff is coming out and I expect to see more though I think the problem is people will misdirect the information for political means (slight bending of the truth). What more could we expect? Nobody really cares about the truth anymore if it doesn't serve their purpose.
  19. Think you need to add humidity to that. AZ runs close to zero.
  20. Mine was you have to take a break and once stuck in traffic, you have to Take A Break 🙂 There was even a line of traffic trying to get in. Insane. It was like everyone in the world just got let out of lockup or something... Guess what percentage were wearing masks?
  21. Stopped in the one in Alabama this weekend. There wasn't but a couple of parking spaces in the whole lot. Makes the ones in Katy and Baytown look empty. Hopefully survived that. I'll know in a day or two.
  22. Of course with a grain of salt. It is from WHO.
  23. That's why we can't have any therapeutics that work. We can't cut into the proceeds unless stock ownership or kickbacks are verified 🙂
  24. Kind of good news if true - asymptomatic spread rare: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/931984
