  1. great movie... go 1.26 into it, and hear the Diva sing at full volume...wow...I was blown away!!!! A Must for a DVD collection. But darn, double darn,,,, If I ever really wanted to see a movie with "out takes" , deleted scenes, and a directors cut, etc., etc., this is one of a few I would have LOVED to have seen it on it. The movie was shot in various looks from futuristic space scenes, to stage sets that really seem real even in slo mo. The sound track too is very vibrant and again the Diva singing is a must.. What did you think????
  2. First off, and this IS very important too, I would listen to your options and a/b them too. The biggest problem people do in a "in wall install" is to go too small of a speaker. This includes matching problems with frequency response wise, and SPL's that are characteristically different than the other speakers used. By all means, if you have Klipsch and like it, STAY with Klipsch for the surrounds. The newer formats in Dolby Digital etc., etc., have full frequency responses all around. You WILL hear it, if your surrounds are sub par/ below average and ruin your whole HT experience. The 100% "Perfect" setup, would be a room full of the same high quality speakers all around and a good sub. Thats how and why Bose , sells so many surrounds because of the speakers all being the same. It just sounds good, all around you. Even if it is crappy Bose- YUCK, PITEWEY, BARF, BARF, BLOWS>>>> I have had, on several occasions, heard excellent Klipsch in walls (probably the bigger ones Klipsch makes. Not little round ones, but big rectangles.) The new reference series look great too. Although our local store has had them for 3 months now...They STILL are not hokked up!!!! They fit almost seemlessly in the walls of a HT setup and through the good use of a sub woofer, it was pretty amazing to me. You can also paint the grills if you want to match wall covering/ designs too. Anyways just make sure your happy. Many people in the building of a HT stage nail em into the studs...temporarily, and sit where they are gonna be to give it a final listen through. << I know it will sound different later,.,,, But all the components will...for those of you who want to argue this 1st listen soundcheck...LOL..>> Good luck
  3. There must be something to this, but even with my little Physics and electronics knowledge I would have to agree too.. This really seems wild.... On the new RC 7's explain this line?? "three frequency specific designs for enhanced definition and detail." So do cables now enhance or deter signals over the same Gauge copper lines?? Wow, that WOULD be an electronics breakthrough? Is it me? I know this all SOUNDS cool, reads great, even more than wonderful that Klipsch is at least upgrading to Good wires inside from the connections to speaker imputs/ crossovers/ speakers/. The premise, I am sure, is suggesting through "moral suasion" perhaps, if this high quality speaker wire is on the inside...(Audio Sales man pause here..LOL) Shouldn't you use it on the outside too? From the Klipsch site quote: FYI "They are wired exclusively with custom manufactured Z-Series Monster Cable®, as are the external bi-wire jumpers of the newly developed circular input cup on the loudspeakers exterior. This materials upgrade (which is part of a strategic alliance with Monster Cable that will place this premium brand wire in all Klipsch Reference Series loudspeakers) ensures top-of-the-line connection from the electronics all the way through to the voice coil of each Klipsch audio system. The Z-Series Monster Cable® comes in three frequency specific designs for enhanced definition and detail. Klipsch is the first and only manufacturer to have made a performance commitment to use Monster Cable in a complete line of products." What do you think??
  4. Should people buy the 12 gauge copper Monster Cable from my local stereo store, at an inflated 1.50 a foot OR Go to Lowes Hardware store, go to the indoor wiring department,(Not the audio department for cables, but where the contractors go <think bulk off of of the spool> ) get Woods Wire.... made in the USA, Copper wire also 12 gauge in what looks like even a better plastic cover than the Monster Cables (These marketing guys think of everything...LOL..) at get this, at 36 cents a foot? Seems like with the 150 feet I bought... The origional expensive Monster Cable 12 gauge. 150 ft x 1.50= $225.00 OR Woods Wire- USA made, 12 gauge from Lowes Hardware 150 ft x .36= $54.00 Seems to me, I just SAVED $171.00 dollars. BTW, I have the K horns with the most expensive Digital Direct Monster Cables Oxygenated etc etc etc found several years ago.( They "through them in," with the speakers, because obviously when you buy K horns they make some $$ when you order them. LOL ) My question is this???? Did I just find out a dirty little marketing secret??? If I did, I wanted to share it with the board so you too can save $$$ on your hook ups. 5. OK, so far so good. I finally got most of the Denon AVR 3802 done (E.G.) Hookups, even with bad directions, and most of the remote. I agree this is a great sounding amp for the Klipsch sounding horns. Warm, but very powerful and screaming "Live" even better than any theatre HT like experience too, when you want it. It sounds good at low levels as well.... So so far so good. I will keep you posted as I experiment more. BUT!!!!!! ***VERY IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER*** I will say the Manual for Denon is HORRIBLE. When I was younger, I could hook things like this in my sleep in say 10 min tops, reconfigure the remote and all. This is the worst remote to figure out I have ever had. Eventually had to unplug the Amp push two buttons at the same time as I plugged it back in simutaniously and start over. Not once but twice to get the origional factory pre sets. Denon has no 1( 800) for dummies line, for people with questions, so at a very late hour, frustrated, and downright mad (because I couldn't get it to do what I wanted)...I called the home office for Denon and left a very mean voice message to the above problem with my name and phone number too..LOL (I doubt I get a return call) Oh well..What we Audiophiles do to gain pleasure sometimes...??? In this case, the AVR 3802 has a very poor layout, and the directions in the manual were like a very bad BDSM session I didn't want...LOL
  6. I just bought the Denon AVR 3802. While I am still in the set up stage I would agree WOW just on music alone. ( Nice Warm clean and loud too.) Never have my K horns EVER sounded so sweet. Now if I can just figure out what wire goes where to get the home theatre set up and going I will be in heaven. You know when you spend $1,000.00 + - on a new system like this, it should be required for the store to have someone to set it up for you too. ( LOL ) As a kid I could have done this blindfolded...as an almost 40 yr old...in a few days...and maybe it was because it was late too...at 3,4, am last night... I was really frustrated too. But like Arnold Schwartzenager sais..I'll be back...LOL...
  7. Dear Sue, To answer your question fairly, if you look at Ebay you will get a idea on the above mentioned speakers. www.ebay.com Many would love to find someone like you in a "quick fire sale," but rather than risk getting killed later for stealing them away from you from others in this board, I feel Ebay will give you some "ballparks" about where you need to sell them. I will say the blue books are very very LOW on these as well as anyone elses for that matter. Especially your Klipschorns. A good pair should go for 1,000.00 minimum and have seen them up to 3,000.00 + for some exotic wood types. The fact that you have the origional boxes helps, too, in that shipping these will be easier and safe and added to the value too. If you have the serial numbers off the back of the speakers, and types of wood stain too, this would help determine age and a PIC would really help looking at them too. Like anything else in life, what you want to buy, is only what the other person willing to sell it to you for. (There never was a K-Horn beanie baby...darn....LOL..) Hope this helps. 8. I agree, touring the Indy Klipsch Headquarters would be a great treat. You have been in the new building for some time now. And the building of the new sound test chamber should be off the ground too. I have a big "helpful suggestion." Hear me out on this please. Klipsch Coprporate, in Indianapolis, IN, needs a Klipsch showroom. Please have every one of your products for demonstration. <<Heritage line especially>> You could bill the products or give store credit based on locality to the nearest Dealer. (E.G., You can't sell them at the Indy facility, but could take an order etc., etc.) That way, Klipsch "Corporate" wouldn't be in conflict with the dealer network.) This would EXPAND SALES, not hurt them. You have the room, in the building your in, so this is a "No Brainer." This would also allow a potential dealer, current dealers, and of course customers to come and hear, see, touch, smell, and taste (all 5 senses working here) the Klipsch Experience. It only works, if you have everything available including your recent acquisition of Amplifier companies too. After all, there are so many complaints on this board for lack of full line to A/B the speakers and or improper set ups in the stores. This is the World headquarters after all... Share the world with the worlds best Klipsch Speakers to everyone!!! For those willing to pay, say over $2,000.00, or more, on a pair of Audio speakers, they would, IMO (In My Opinion) come to Indianapolis, IN to audition them. (Maybe not in all cases, but more than you think!!) Indy is also located within 8 hours of 70% of the USA population wise. Many dealers do not go to all the trade shows. They are expensive, long, and not always the best place to LISTEN to your great products. Here is your chance to have them over at "Your Place" and really show them the nuances and specialty of the Klipsch brand. So Bob G, and others at Klipsch corporate, what do you think???
  9. Just wanna say I enjoyed this a lot. we watched it tonight, and felt it was top notch like all Lucas movies. I like this the least in the series...so I am looking forward to the re touched OLDIES more..LOL.. CRANK it up and enjoy it for what it is. And get lost like your 8 yrs old again...yes thats right, root 4 the kid..the dreamer...and may "the force" be with you!!!!
  10. Where are you from?? The second set, with the metal trim looked to be in prety good working order. The first obviously was "Band Road Kill." I occasionally see sets like this, where the La Scalas go for $200. (If everything works) ...I know an insult to Klipsch lovers looking for a clean home version pair... And the sub woofer cabinets get about $ 200-500 depending on condition. Let me know on the $1,000 offer (Second pic, metal trim set up.) If it is a serious offer, depending where they are located I just might be interested. (If, they are all in working order, of course.) I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. Let me know!! 11. OMG have you made my day!!!!!! But first a little background.... In the early mid 80's in a college town in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University, I was the lead singer in a band called "Exposure." We were not the biggest baddest best band from....LOL etc., etc., "should have been the next "Beatles"... LOL... But, we were also far from just average to bad too. <<Think a lot of John "Cougar" Mellencamp being in Bloomington, Indiana, you get the idea..>> We played at various Bars in Bloomington, Oscars (Now Axis) The Bluebird...Various Greek fraternity and sorority dances Bloomington, massive parties for Little 500, IU homecoming, in the dorms etc. We also played in Indianapolis, Indiana at places like the Vogue and the Patio where people came to dance, drink beer, and hear good rock n roll with friends on a good Friday or Saturday night. 10-2 am...LIVE rock n roll, where did you go??? We used this EXACT setup that is in your PIC with the 4 La Scala's and the MCM middle. It only took three crown amps, two at +- 100 wpc, and one mono bridged at 550 WPC, if I remember close enough, for the MCM sub. We never had any breakdowns, and the La Scala's were just incredible, sometimes side by side sometimes one on top of the other for height, with the top La Scala turned upside down to keep the highs close together. I used to jump up and down often on the MCM sub put in the middle just in front of the stage getting closer to the audience, too. As you can imagine, it took 4 guys to haul that one piece in ..Even on rollers..LOL.. But a great "Mini Stage." The system was clean, easy to hook up, and I almost cried when our sound man sold it for a JBL system he was talked into using/ buying from a music store. I always wanted to know if anyone else did this setup for a live PA...I will tell you for 4 years I loved every night we played with it too. People would come in and say, "Is that all you got for this big room"... I would think stand back..LOL.. We all knew it could play loud...heck even a bad system can play loud...BUT and here is why I had to post... This was the "cleanest easy sounding loud" that I ever felt singing and playing through. I will also say to describe it..."Easy" (because it was so clean, so less stress on your ears) to feel like your really hearing everything clean like in a recording studio....But LIVE!! That's my 2 cents... Kinda like turning up the Eagles DVD and you get that same experience... Just like the record/CD...But omg great really great cranked up!!!!! As a side note: Today, I sing through a pair of Heresy's (Vocals only) on top of a pair of Corwalls (Music only)in a room devoted for this purpose. In a very lager basement. With Karaoke discs being so close to the origional bands, and at almost 40 years YIKES now.... I now have a "Great Band" on CD with the words that play for me, when I want, and all the songs I want too..LOL And I never have to worry about anyone else to pay or be sick, conflicts, or missing band members too...LOL...(Or drummers that wanna have their girlfriend sing too..LOL..) If you have these, enjoy em. Thay are incredible.
  12. K Horns in good working order that look great are in high demand.. If the sound does not (Pardon the unscientific jargon here...LOL) look, feel, or move you emotionally...Your not "alive" from the best sounding, dynamic, loud speakers perhaps built in the world... If not, you might want to consider just and update from one of ALK's crossovers to re ignite them too. Mitja said...About the Corwalls,...even better with K horns... "Finally I would like to tell you that I do not dance and I do not say "Yes, yes ." very often, I do not conduct an orchestra either. But Klipsch Cornwalls encourage me to do all these. Day by day. They put me into complete harmony with the music. They make me happy.....Mitja Borko I would say you have a great find...On Ebay, in good condition, ...+ - $1500-$3000. Used ENJOY!!!!!! 13. "Finally I would like to tell you that I do not dance and I do not say "Yes, yes ." very often, I do not conduct an orchestra either. But Klipsch Cornwalls encourage me to do all these. I Loved this quote on the site you recommended...And I agree too. I Love My Cornwalls.
  14. I asked about home theater on the Home Theatre forum post...room size examples etc etc. Now for just a room to enjoy the k horns for music pleasure too. Any thoughts on room size dimensions for optimal enjoyment for K-horns for music? Thanks!!
  15. We all know that--- The three-way Heritage Series Cornwall was first introduced in 1959 and manufactured by Klipsch until 1985. While no longer in production, Cornwall model loudspeakers are still owned and listened to by Klipsch fans around the world as part of two-channel audio and home theater surround sound systems. HINT, HINT ---WE STILL WANT THIS SPEAKER But, how do you re tool and or make it affordable too? (the big issue, I agree.) Well, just a thought......You currently manufacture an: KPT-315-LF FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 45Hz - 1.5kHz±4dB SENSITIVITY: 101dB @ 1 watt/1 meter TRANSDUCERS: One K-48-KP 15" woofer DIMENSIONS: 38.5" (97.8cm) x 27.25" (69.2cm) x 12.25" (31.1cm) WEIGHT: 80 lbs. (36.3kg) So just a thought...Could you reintroduce the +NEW+ Cornwall III using the dimensions from the KPT -315-LF?? All you would need are the mid and high horns and crossovers on a new front? ( Flip the LF driver and holes to the bottom.) Seems to me Klipsch could re ignite a Classic Heritage line of speakers that we all seemed to enjoy, AND at the same time, not take up too much work re tooling for you too. Just a thought. Look at the KPT-315-LF and you will see a potential "Cornwall III" in disguise. http://www.klipsch.com/images/productmedia/large/207_large.jpg What do you think???
  16. I am looking at room demensions here with an 8 ft screen size. We can look into eqipment at another post and argue among ourselves.( LOL I am a Heritage lover, but again that is another topic/post.) This should be for home family use mainly, ok maybe occasional guests...looking at say 8 custom theatre chairs...or four chairs and a couch set up. (Figuring your the ones getting the most out of it 2 adults 2 kids) Any room plans anyone else has used, please post with what you liked/disliked or wished you had done different. Thanks in Advance, I would love to see pictures of peoples rooms or plans.
  17. ok speaker question here first.... what size would you build a HT and placement of your fav Klipsch speakers be?? I have a pair of K horns, a pair of cornwalls, 2 pairs of kg1's,a kv3 I think center channel I will look again.... and a pair of heresy's too. I am looking for room size and dimensions as a guide to use?? We will look at gear later.... Thanks
  18. I would love a place to get heritage Heresy cornwall la scala Klipschorn's speakers and or products without getting "Taken" too. After several months monitoring Cornwalls on ebay, yahoo, etc etc.. I would say we insiders know how special these are...But I seem to see the same speakers on ebay after a couple of months or so. Are they selling them to themselves??? taking a write off... (There is one particular la scala with a woodburning job on the side looks drug influenced I giggle every time I see it.LOL) I know a set of birch raw cornwalls say 1982 on for 400-600 dollars is a steal...but I read others supposedly finding them too. I wish I could find them also??? I have a very large room to play the Cornwalls in... I can tell anyone, without reservation, they are awesome!!!!!!
  19. Well, looks like this has been a healthy debate that has run its course. Good points on both sides on my previous post "Would Klipsch ever do this?" Part of me is a purist. I have the Heresy's, Cornwalls, and K Horns at my house. They each are wonderful, and in different situations ROCK... I guess a part of me, after reading all of your posts, is, in fact, thinking about why so many of you make changes... etc etc. I am a purist. You do not put a Yugo engine in a Turbo Porsche. But you also might enhance a Porsche (as I have done), by changing the chips too, if it helps make it like you want too. (E.G., more horsepower, more fun to drive) So I guess I do understand both sides. Kinda, LOL I trust Klipsch would take the engineering and time to make sure the Amps being used (if it is a self powered contained system) would be not only be adequate, but a fantastic fit for the applicable speaker(s)too. Other wise why bother and ruin the Klipsch name?? This company is going through changes... I do not know personally if those of us into the Heritage line... That love, dream, live, eat, and talk about our "babies," (Heck we even post PICS of our systems here...LOL) are out of touch with reality ... and quite possible the enviable too. (It just might be over for the Klipsch Heritage line up, as we know it.) I, too, have gone to one of the largest Klipsch dealers (Ovation Audio, Indpls,IN) only to be told the Heritage line has been dropped. While I would rate Ovation as far as personnel an 8, (on a 1-10 scale...) They are far above many others that carry great home audio/HT stuff too. I know the high end Heritage line is no longer there... Martin Logan, Theil, and other "flavor of the moments" fill that area today. I know they sell a "boatload" ( Thats Indiana slang for lots n lots..LOL) of Klipsch speakers for home theater, outdoors, and now computer applications. And at great profits to both Ovation and Klipsch. They also say why stock the Heritage line anyway? After all, they are too big, and no one wanted them. (Where was I at the fire sale of Heritage floor sample models going at 50% off/Which is what I was told they had to do.) I still believe a great pair of Cornwalls in the original size... yes, who knows.. maybe better drivers, larger sized and or shaped horns,(a great idea from Mackie)... Just might be what this line needs. Priced at say 1500 each, 3k a pair? I really believe that they would sell. Many of you have E-mailed to me, and in other posts said sign me up if they do! What's your thoughts before they cancel everything we all believe in? I look forward to your posts!
  20. I ran across some Mackie Pro Audio speakers at: http://www.mackie.com/Products/Active/SR1530/SR1530.asp My thought process was, we all want the perfect amp, made for the perfect speakers (Klipsch). I know they make powered subs... So why not do it for all the drivers and have the ultimate system made exactly as Paul and the audio designers wanted.???? What are your thoughts??
  21. Well, after reconsidering and figuring that he would only be posing as a woman.... And I didn't want a "Crying Game" experience to happen. LOL I do, however, want to be in line for a new set of Klipsch Cornwalls. I think these are some of the finest speakers EVER made. I also have the Klipschhorns and Heresy's to compare them too also.
  22. I agree n the Eagles dvd//// and sounds fine in dolby pro logic or dolby digital too. The James Taylor DVD LIVE is also very very good. I, too, love to crank it up on a pair of K horns to demonstraight just how good Klipsch is. There is nothing shy of being soo close to "The Eagles, James Taylor" that you could touch them ...that comes close to the great mix and sound when these are cranked up on a pair of K horns!! wooo hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!
  23. I have no idea where this audio journey will go. It is great to meet you online, and hopefully someday I can build a Home Theater with Klipsch speakers to share with everyone. I really have a passion for all things Klipsch! Roger
  24. I did have a few great days at the gas station though. Working 8 hrs either 6 am to 2 pm or 2 pm to 10 pm. Women would come in with very low cut blouses or bikini tops just to tease me.(Or it sure seemed that way..LOL) Once a woman even drove up to the full service bay with a very short skirt on and no panties...LOL. Another time in the car wash, these seniors at North Cental High School, had a water fight in the car wash area and got totally soaked too. You can imagine what a wet T shirt on a 18 yr old woman with no bra in HS, in some tight daisy duke shorts, does to a Jr in HS boy ... especially on a hot day..LOL... While these are NOT "Dear Penthouse" letters stuff...They did make the days seem not quite so long. Again, the goal was to work hard to get the Heresy's. Thanks for your comments I am curious what everyone else did to get their first pair of Klipsch speakers and what sacrifices you did too??? We "Klipsch Fanatics", would make a great Psychological study. I know my 352 hrs @1.93 an hour has to seem today, like a crazy fool. But the key is, I still have them, as well as a pair of Cornwalls and a pair of Klipschorns too. You do not need to throw away Great speakers if you buy quality the first time around. I think ...well, I know..I made the right choice with Klipsch.
  25. OK, your treading on "sacred" ground for some in this room. LOL I suggest YOU make the decision based on what YOU feel and hear? Not the specs, not the write ups in this hot magazine flavor of the moment.( That happens to have a big advertising budget, and has several ads in this months issue too...) hehehehehe But, what sounds the best to you. I have used Yamaha and Dennon, so in this post I can be even. LOL You may also pic a unit based on the ease of hooking everything up to your system and so when using the remote, integration might be a factor. You also might consider the yes I will say it .. the PRICE too. LOL. I mean if you happen to save enough over one brand or another all things being equal? Are several more CD's, or DVD's worth the savings too. But then again...Never sacrifice what you think is the best, even if you have to wait a little longer to get it. You will never be happy... and spend the rest of your life doing a what if? So take your time.. If it sounds and feels good...IT IS!!!!!! Just a thought.
