  1. could I just use an extra AV receiver I have? I would plug in the optical out from the sound card into the receiver (it decodes DTS, DD 5.1, etc.) and use the rca to mini plug adapters in the preamp outs from the receiver. Sound feasible? Any foreseable problems? Thanks
  2. Hi all, I am looking to add to my current 2.0 set-up of KM-6's with a center and surrounds. I have been looking at KV-2's on Ebay and audiogon, but feel I might want a bigger center channel (maybe not, any input would be appreciated) - something like a KG2.5V or KT-LCR. For surrounds, I have seen a few pairs of KG1.5's, but again I think I want more - possibly KG2.5's or KT-LCR's. Also, they MUST be in black - WAF. Anyway, I thought I would check to see if anyone here has suitable speakers they might be looking to unload. Please e-mail or respond here. Thank you. David
  3. you may also want to look at the KT-LCR as a center. i have one i have been using for about 3 years now with my KM-6's (KG 5.5's in disguise) and it works wonderfully in this capacity. of course, they seem to be harder to find than the KLF-C7's, so that may sway your decision. david
  4. i should also mention that i have a kt-lcr in (i believe) medium oak finish that i would like to sell or trade as well. i have been using it as a center speaker for about 2 years and it has performed wonderfully in that capacity. now i need the same speaker (or 3) in black. with the new tv, other speakers and flexi rack all in lack, the oak just stands out to much for my wife. or alternatively i am looking for a good center speaker in black to replace this one - klf-c7, kg 2.5v, etc. anyway, the kt-lcr, along with the km-6's, is up for sale now. $200.00 plus shipping for the kt-lcr - or a trade, just like the km-6's. email for more info - dbngaa@hotmail.com thanks david
  5. I have a pair of KM-6's that I am looking to sell. As far as I can tell, these are identical to the KG 5.5's. I have had them about 3 years, using them as surrounds, and now need something smaller. They are both in excellent condition, with original covers. Will deliver to anyone in the Memphis area, or can look into shipping. $250 plus shipping for the pair. Would consider a trade as well. Email if interested: dbngaa@hotmail.com and I can provide serial numbers, more info on condition, pics, etc.
  6. well, i have been saving for the 45tx while being in between receivers for 6 months, so ANY receiver is going to sound good. but recently i have been reading more and more about the 49tx and txi and thinking i might want to save up a bit more. i am completely pleased with my panny rp91, so no desire to pick up the pio dvd/sacd player. the "old" tx model would suffice - understatement. just curious if anyone can make a comparison - not that there is any really - between these receivers. i'm growing less patient with my non-surround invironment, but if it realy is worth it then i may just wait. thanks david
  7. hi all, i have just purchased a denon avr-3200 - i needed an ac-3 rf demodulator, the denon has one built in and was only a bit more than the demods alone go for now, and i've always wanted a denon receiver. so i searched around and read some reviews on audio review and such, but would like to hear from some klipsch owners who may have the unit. i know the consensus here is that denon = excellent, especially when matched with klipsch speakers. i have been using an onkyo 575x (and have always been pleased with its performance) and am curious as to how the sound will be different. any info or opinions would be appreciated. also, if anyone happens to have a copy of the owner's manual and would be willing to copy and mail, fax, e-mail i would be grateful. thanks david This message has been edited by dbngaa on 06-13-2002 at 12:13 PM
  8. i too have 5.5's - 4 of them at the moment, for front and surrounds. i have been using a kt-lcr for my center, but have decided to try for another pair of 5.5's. talktokeith may still have a pair available if you're interested. or i have my kt-lcr up for sale. david
  9. ttk, thanks for the offer. i've got to wait on the outcome of my auctions to see how quickly i can purchase the new speakers, but i'll let you know in a few days. t-man, sure it sounds easy, but i'm wary of messing with perfection. plus, with the 6th speaker being a rear center, and having nowhere to place it except standing up, i might just try building a custom cabinet for the tv to sit above the speakers. or IF i can score a rp/hdtv sometime soon, i could just build a riser to get the screen up above the speakers. anyway, i'll think about your suggestion though.
  10. what a difference a day makes. i talked with my wife last night about the center channel (and rear center channel eventually) and she was suddenly quite supportive of my selling the kt-lcr and adding another pair of 5.5's. so, up it went on ebay, along with my inferior sub, and i am now in the market for another pair of 5.5's or km-6's. i'm gonna call the dealer where i purchased the other ones, even though it has been over a year, and see if he has any more available. now, i have to figure out how to arrange the tv and stuff... it would be nice just to get a plasma display and hang it on the wall above the front speakers, or a crt projector and screen, but as that won't be happening i guess i will be constructing somethng to place our 32" sony above the speakers. i don't think i have the skills to reconstruct the 5.5 into a horizontal center, but i may be wrong. i'll search horn ed's posts and see if he left any instructions. lots of rambling today. got the upgrade fever. david
  11. hi all, i have also been looking at the kv-2,3,4 series to replace the kt-lcr i have been using as a center with my kg5.5's. the lcr is a good speaker, but after a year of trying every position and level setting i'm ready to try another speaker entirely. and since my wife, and the room, won't accomidate another pair of 5.5's (i have them as surrounds as well) i am looking towards these. i see the kv-2 matched up with the kg5.5's and km-6's on this site, and i saw the recommendation for the kv-3 earlier, but what about the kv-4? would it match at all? anyway, anyone who is interested in an oak finish kt-lcr, let me know. thanks david
  12. i used netflix back many years ago after first buying a dvd player, no problems. i recently took them up on their free 2 week trial offer, and again no problems. the main thing i run into is that i do not have time to watch all of the movies i would like to see. dvdovernight.com has a good selection and is no more than BB - i've rented from them a few times. david
  13. i purchased the panny 91 (great machine, esp. for the money) a few months back because i needed a new dvd player, wanted a progressive scan capable one, and figured dvd-a would be fun as well. (the WAf went way up when i told her we could get fleetwood mac's rumours on dvd-a) anyway, i have recently decided to replace my old cd player with an sacd capable 5-disc changer. i have a very understanding friend with an entry level, multi-channel sony sacd player (775 something) which he has let me borrow. i too have a receiver with only one set of multi-channel inputs, and so decided to try the splitter method. it may be comparing apples to oranges, but i did notice a slight difference between straight connections and split ones. it wasn't huge, but different. i will still be upgrading (and why not?) but am alos looking for either a new receiver (!) or alternate connection method. just a very long 2 cents for you. david
  14. well, i've been toying around with the idea of selling my kt-lcr - i want to replace it with a klf-c7 - but haven't done any more than that. if you are still interested e-mail, i'll sleep on it tonight. david
  15. well, i was really thinking of the kt-lcr, but re-reading the sentence i see that i implied the kg5.5's. i guess the same might go for either though. when i get to try out the lcr vertically below the tv screen, i'll need to angle it up a bit. i don't want to use a phone book. nor do i want to scratch the finish on the speaker. and it may not make a real difference in sound anyway. so maybe i'll start with the phone book and see before looking towards anything more permanent. but since we're on the subject, how would you suggest kicking the kg5.5's up off the floor, keith? thanks in advance for any info. david
