How well does your Marantz drive those speakers?

Ive purchased the ''new '' vynl and I'm not impreesed with the quality control of the record itself. I bought Kiss Alive and several other records and found the record to be somewhat less then round and lots of flanges on the edge's. While the record is rather hefty in weight and stiffness it was short on quality.As far as obscure new records go, I did see Pink Floyd Animals and Eric Claptons Slowhand. Lot's of 70's stuff.

Could there be a cost factor involved in this?

I guess you could call this a mod. Was making my rounds in the thrift and pawn shops when I spotted a pair of black speakers. Thought they had a strangely familiar shape to them. Upon closer inspection I discovered,to my horror, that they were KG-4's. Someone thought it would be a good idea to paint them black, with a paint brush. The grills were so faded from smoke they were green! Didnt look at the drivers or horns,afraid of what I might find. The kicker is this, the shop wanted $125.00 for them.

What simple thing could be done to make my KG 4's and KG 2's sound better? I've heard of people ''recapping'' any suggestions? I think my Klipschs sound great, but who knows?

why are some kg-4's rated at 6 ohm's and some at 4?

No passives ? huh, wow. yes mine have passives and they do there job quite well. Pink Floyds welcome to the machine really gave em a work out this afternoon.

Craigs list,at least in my area, Mpls, is loaded with people selling there 5.1 receivers ,sometimes for dirt cheap. People upgrade to 7.1's or whatever and they want to get rid of there older stuff. Bare in mind if you have an older 2 channel kenwood it's going to be hard match that sound quality, but you never know. Check out Craigs List.

Just scored a mint pair of KG-2's in walnut for 70 Bucks. My question is this,did these ever come with risers?
