    RF-63

I drive my rf-63 with a emotiva xpa-5. I have dual subs but don't use them for music because the rf-63 simply has plenty of thump without them. I do believe any speakers sound better with a quality external amp.
  3. I own a 200.00 meter and a 3.00 meter. It just depends what your going to use it for. My 3.00 meter sets on my work bench and is used for general troubleshooting and works great.
  4. I too have a UMC-1 and love it! Sounds better than any pre/pro or receiver I've owned. As long as your components play well with the UMC-1 its an outstanding buy. Im on the XMC-1 pre-order list, but on the fence about replacing the UMC-1.
  5. I place mine where they sound the best, then my wife where they can stay and where they can not,[]
  6. I updated because Dolby Volume wasn't correct. Now I seldom turn off Dolby Volume.
  7. With the new firmware, I personally think the UMC is a unbeatable bargain. I can afford a 2-3k processor, but feel there is no need to spend the extra money. The UMC does everything I need and the sound is simply amazing. How many companies let you upgrade to 3D without buying a new processor? At this point I wondering if updating to the future XMC is worth while, I'm certainly in no hurry to upgrade. It seems most issues are related to what is being connected to the UMC. If you can avoid the problems source componets, the UMC should perform great. Gee, now I'm sounding like a fanboy.......... How much is the UMC worth? 1000.00 - 1500.00.
  8. Loving the new firmware. Believe it or not, the SQ improved. BIG improvements in Dolby Volume. IMO the value on the UMC just went up.
  9. Loving the new firmware. Believe it or not, the SQ improved. BIG improvements in Dolby Volume.
  10. Received my new BJC sub cable today, ZERO HUM!
  11. My room is 20x25 with 8-16 foot vaulted ceilings. The room has large three openings, a half wall and a large free standing brick fireplace. It's hard for the room to hold bass with all the openings. Also this is a very hard room to setup a HT in due to wall space, furnitue, a patio door and WAF. I have two Emotive ultra 12s. For the last year I've placed them where they just physically fit the best. Last weekend I move them around and found out they are capable of producing much more bass when place in different locations. I thing I need todo the bass crawl and find out where the bass works the best and where I can actually place these subs. I think it's going to be a compromise between sound and WAF.
  12. Wont be discounted any more, but maybe some new products.
  13. I was also trying to setup two subs this week. I had a spl meter and used REW for the tones. I played the crossover tone and checked the level on the SPL meter at 0 degrees and 180 degrees, did not see any difference on the SPL meter. Maybe it was bad placement? I've read that that a very good position for two subs is 1/4 in from each of the front corners. Does anyone know how 1/4 in on the front wall and 1/4 in on opposite back wall would work.?
  14. What's its worth today maybe different then what's its worth next week when the new firmware comes out.
  15. I believe you are correct. The Sub does not hum unitl I plug the RCA cable into it (with the other end disconnected). Its acting like a antenna. Last night I ordered a much better cable from Blue Jean Cables, I believe this will solve my issue. Although Ive always had good luck with Monoprice cables, but Ive had two bad cables in two weeks. Im thinking about swapping out all my Monoprice cables with DYI interconnect cables, but thats for a different post. Oh, LarryC nice drawings! thx
