  2. mint pair of KG 5.5 in light oak.......pics maybe tomorrow ....but not a mark on cabinets or grill covers....upgraded Crites tweet diaphrams....$500...located in southern ohio...will help with delivery within a hundred miles....thanks
  3. ok...tell me how this will match up....or....wont....
  4. those are sweet.......look new.....nothing better than Howard's to revive finish....CONGRATS
  5. thanks for the reply and suggestions.....moray....I did notice that the diaphrams were the same but since I had such positive results with the KG......the update on the 3 way setup had to be as impressive.......at least I'm bettin 60 bucks it will be [Y]
  6. Klipschtatics post comparing his new KLF-20's(congrats by the way) to his RF 3's reminded of just weeks ago when I brought home from a much shorter road trip (Cincy to Indy and back)....my new to me KLF-30's dressed in black......the KG-5.5's are no shrinking violets in size and sound......side by side comparison make th KG's look much smaller (69# compared to 103#)......sonically the KLF-30's present a larger soundstage but with the KG's having the TI diaphram update and the KLF do not....(YET)....with my set up of two seperate systems side by side in the same room makes the shoot out EZ to do from two different power sources.....when BOTH are updated......the best 60 bucks you can spend on improvements ........do the 30's have the same glue issue internally that the 20's seem to have......so far I love the 30's...got 'em for a killer price, 50 bucks in gas,and 3.5hours of windshield time.....life is good .......[]
  7. I was curious how much difference there was in the TI diaphram so since I have 2 pair of KG 5.5 I wrestled them in place to to do an A-B comparison on the same source. I used my fully restored realistic STA-2100 as the source and it has plenty of clean power....The difference to me was not subtle but dramatic......since I am anything but an audiophile...I can only describe it as "cleaner and more detailed".......I love the upgrade...well worth the cost.....so I am now going to order them now for my other KG 5.5 and the KLF-30's I just bought......plus it is E_Z to do......p.s. also tried same test with a Sansui G-7700 which has a different sond than the Realistic .....but with similar improvements
  8. I have had the Pure I-20 dock for about 2 weeks now and I love it......I had been using a Griffen air dock with great results but I think the results from the Pure are a lot cleaner , crisp and defined......damn I hate to start sounding like some pompous self proclaimed" audiophile".....the only drawback the Pure has is its remote is infrared...and the Griffen remote uses an RF signal .......so I can be outside on my patio and control the dock without being in line of sight...........
  9. Joe Bonamassa Walter Trout kenny wayne sheperd Shannon Curfman Joanne shaw Taylor SRV Eric Clapton Buddy Guy Johnny Lang....................did I say JoeBonamassa ????????
  10. I too have the KG 5.5 speakers and I tried several different combinations .....and while the vintage Sansui gear sounded great they matched up even better with my Realistic STA-2100 even better....most of my music listening tends to be classic rock......'Floyd, Zep,with a little Joe Bonamassa and Walter Trout thrown in just for good measure....good luck in your search
  11. well they arent in LA but he has reconed a Klipsch 8" driver for me and was identical to original in looks and fidelity...Nevisonics in Louisville....shipping involved yes....but this guy is good
  12. is there any difference between these two series.....the KM being the designated military version of the KG....was looking to buy a pair KG 5.5 and found a pair of KM 6....just wanted to make sure they are in fact component for component the same thing....hopefully Klipsch didnt take any libertys with the military version
  13. thanks for the response so far....no longer available from the factory so the tech suggested a shop not but 1.5 hours from me that they have had positive results with....waiting to hear back from him .........and plan B was successful tonight.....scored 2 like new drivers off the 'bay for a fair price...now I may end with 2 spares.....thanks again
  14. until I get a pic....it goes from surround down to center cap and follows cap around about 1/4"...thanks
  15. Well I drive 100 miles saturday to score some mint KSF 10.5, my first set of Klipsch....when I get home like a kid on Christmas morning much to my dismay I find one of the 8" woofers has a tear in the cone that wasnt there when I left....what are my best options ??...recone?...replace?...........is this particular woofer difficult to find?....I really would like to keep the look and fidelity as original as possible....as far as reconing since I really dont trust my own skills in this I dont live but about 20 minutes from "Parts Express" and could take it there for repair...anyone with any experience in that service they provide have any suggestions ......any help with this is greatly appreciated ahead of time and I look forward to the time when I can give constructive advce []
