  1. Heavenly Father, We pray for our brother, your son Dean. Even though some of us may not know him personally we are all your children. So as a family member we pray for his full recovery from this terrible disease. May give the doctors the wisdom needed to administer the most effective treatments to aid in his recovery. May you keep him and his family strong throughout this difficult time. We don't understand why things happen in this life but we do know where we can cast our cares, fears and concerns. We ask that you carrry that burden for his family as we pray in your name. Amen.
  2. I have a chance to buy a pair of RF-83's for $450.00 what is your opinion. I don't really need them as I have two pair of Lascala's, a pair of Polk SDA 2's, a pair of Carver Platinums, 5 pair of Sunfire CRM 2's, a pair of NHT VT-2's and a host of other speakers. But the price seems to be good. I know I have a problem, but should I buy them?
  3. I have made a few thrift shop finds over the years. Here are a handful. 1. JBL Lancer 101-with marble tops for $45. Sold on ebay parted out for $650.00. Cabinets were not in good shape. 2. B & O turntable model number 3404 fully functional for $5.00. 3. Bell'o 5 shelf high audio rack and TV stand for $135.00. 4. Ohm walsh 100 loudspeakers for $50.00. 5. Carver Platinums for $350.00 sold for 800.00. 6. Bose Life Style 50 system for $25.00 sold for $460.00. 7. Energy Pro-22 loudspeakers for $20.00. But the best ones are the free ones. 1. Pioneer Elite PD-95 CD Player, Pioneer Elite Laser Disk Player and Parasound Z amp. Gentleman was dropping off at electronics recycle center. He left me go thru stuff in parking lot. 2. Pioneer SX-1250-Someone left it on curb for pickup. Did a good cleaning worked good as new until I sold it for $300.00. 3. Magnepan SMG's-Left on curb for pickup. Tweeter non working in one speaker. Otherwise in excellent condition. Note that this covers a span 10 to 12 years and visting a lot of stores and a lot of luck.
  4. Thanks for the reply. I went back to where I got the head. Turns out the cabinet was still there. I have been using the head for about two weeks now and it is in great shape. No hiss or hum is noticable. The cab is a little beat up, but looks as good as some I see on Ebay that have sold for over $1000.00. I don't want to sell it, just trying to get an idea of value. They also had and Acoustic model 136 combo amp. I am checking it out. The controls are a little scratchy but overall it looks to be in decent shape. I attached a photo that has the Ampeg in it. Not a great shot though.
  5. By chance I was talking to one of my neighbor over the weekend and the conversation turned to my playing the bass. Turns out her dad played bass before he passed away and she still had his gear in her basement. We go down and there sits an Ampeg Portaflex B-15-N tube amp some cabinets and another amp which I don't recall. I will go back this weekend to take a closer look. But the Ampeg caught my eye, she saw that I was interested so she told me to take it home and see if it worked. I was wondering what would be a fair price to offer her for just the head. As the original cabinet is missing. I see the combo is going for crazy prices on Ebay. Would like to get a realistic price. Thanks
  6. At the Professor. I just picked up an Ampeg B 15 N head without the cabinet. Do you have any idea what it is worth. In good working condition.
  7. Thanks, I try to hold down the groove. Progress has been slow with my renovation, can't put in the time I want. But it should be nice when completed.
  8. As per my post this setup is in the middle of a renovation. As configured when this pic was taken, the small speaker was part of a 2-channel system i used to listen to practice tracks when I didn't want to disturb anyone. The large monitors were part of a 5.1 surround system. It sounded great. Like I said this space is being redone as I type this so I will post pics when it is complete that shows the entire setup. By the way with a moniker like Prof. Thump you must be a pretty good low ender.
  9. Old pic. Will update when I finish remodeling my man cave.
  10. I got mine for $750.00 with custom made casters. They were made in 1996 and are in excellent condition.
  11. I will definitely stick around. Listening to the LaScalas now.
  12. @Billy Bob-I also play electric bass, or at least try too. @Peter H-Thanks @BigStewMan-any information gathered will be kept in my secret file and only used to assure national security. @Arky-Thanks, I have them set up and enjoying the music already.
  13. Guys thank for the welcome. I have been cruising the site for a while gathering information. I used it to make my purchase. Dollar Bill, I too enjoyed the Loft a little better. It was more personal in my opinion and the dancers were incredible. Also because of my name I had to learn how to play bass. Not as well as my namesake but I do okay.
