  1. I’m in need of a RSW-15 Grill as well. Anybody out there still have one for sale? i also have a dinged up front woofer. I can’t remember if that was the passive or active. If it was the passive, I might be interested in one of those as well. Thanks, send me a PM if you can help. Im just outside Chicago.
  2. Here is the room I am working with.
  3. I think my only concern with people recommending these large (normally used as mains) for center channels is they are incredibly difficult to work into a clean HT install unless you want your center channel off to the left or right of your tv. If you do that, the audio sounds like it is coming from the wrong location and all the HT dialouge goes through the center. For music, i'm sure that is not a problem. I have a ton of unused room where these speakers would go, so space is not a concern. So I see a couple people saying that the KLF-C7 won't be a total tragedy and I can get a pair of early 90's La Scalas for just a couple hundred more than what I can sell my KLF's for (so that is not a big deal) I just wanted to make sure that wasn't a huge mistake for a HT heavy environment. When new KLF-30's sold for $1800 a pair and La Scalas were more than double that amount so I was hoping there was a pretty big difference in sound quality.
  4. TNRabbit, yes I have an RSW-15 so I am not worried about bass in the least!! I was watching Iron Man last night and when he walked out of the cave in his cobbled together suit I though my house was going to fall down. My wife texted me from 2 stories up to tell me the windows were shaking and I was scaring the dog!! I love subs!!
  5. I don't have a projector. That is an 82" tv on a stand recessed into the wall 2ft. I'm not really wanting to go to extremes to have the "perfect" sound. I don't really have a golden ear so maybe I should have phrased my question differently. Will La Scalas be a better main speaker (75%HT,25%Music (mostly hip hop, techno, rock), than the KLF-30's I currently have? Sorry for the drawn out thread but I am going to get in a little hot water buying more speakers, I just want to make sure it is worth it!!
  6. How about something that fits in the cubby hole above my tv? I have a KLF-C7 or a RC-62, neither will suffice? Will I hate myself if I try either of those?
  7. What is the best center for La Scalas?
  8. I have a great set of klf-30's already but was wondering if a nice set of late 70's La Scalas would be better. I know the scalas can hang with the best in music but how do they do with HT? I have a medium sized HT in my basement with everything listed in my profile at my fingertips. What is your opinion?
  9. UPDATE! [] I got the refurbed amp in 2 weeks ago and much to my dismay, I then found out the sub was fried!! Apparently it is common for a blown amp to toast a sub in the process! Klipsch had me test the amp with an Ohm meter and it tested bad (.1 Ohm). At this point I was thinking that Rix was going to just pull the plug on the whole deal and return my money! Much to my surprise, he stepped up and offered to pay for a replacement woofer to make things right. On Monday I got the new woofer from Klipsch and installed it within seconds! Guess what... this thing ROCKS. I want to give a big thanks to Rix! We could have had a really ugly situation but he managed to make it right! Thanks again Rix! Fellow forum members, don't ever hesitate to do business with him. He is first class all the way!
  10. Agreed, a computer cord is plenty heavy duty for this application. Where you can get in trouble is if you are trying to run long distances with a thinner guage cord. Most computer cords are only 4-5 feet long and they range from 18-14 guage. I have a box with about 15 of them in my basement right now. My new 1300w computer power supply that cost $310 came with a 12 guage cord, probably just so it didn't look wimpy but who knows. Just as an update, when I cracked open the sub to check the amp it was quite obvious that it was toast. It had a bunch of burned out components (resistors, caps, transistors, etc) I even heard stuff rattling around when I rolled the sub on it's side. That turned out to be a burned up capacitor and some melted plastic from another component. I was excited that Klipsch only charged $140 to exchange my toasted amp for a refurbed amp. Hopefully this one won't meet the same fate. I will post back once I get the replacement amp installed.
  11. I had heard the opposite from some others. They said put the bigger speakers in the rear locations. The bigger speakers would fit way better in the back because they could actually go on a wall instead of being suspended precariously from a soffit at a weird angle to make sure they were pointed at me. Is it a concensus that the bigger "surround-esque" speakers should go on the sides and not the rear? Any other help on my situation?
  12. The ultra wide angle lens she used for the photos kinda makes the room look weird but I think you can get the idea of what I am working with.
  13. Ok, I have a new HT room in my basement and need your expert advice! I am attaching a photo in the next post. 2 KLF-30's for mains 1 KLF-C7 2 RS-42's 2 RS-10's 1 RSW-15 2 KSP-S6's that won't fit for surrounds but if you think they would work for rears better than the RS-42's I am game for that. Denon 2310CI (AVR-890) I am sitting 10.5' from my 82" Mitsubishi The fronts are about 12' from me at a 45 degree angle. Center is about 7' up (aimed at me of course) and 10.5 feet away. I want to put the surrounds about 7.5' up on a soffit directly left and right of me. They would be about 7' to the side of the prime watching location. The rears would be about 10' behind me at a 45 degree angle. and also about 7' up. Now that you can visualize my setup, I want to ask a basic question. If I was going to keep the RS-10's and the RS-42's, which would you use for the surrounds and which for the rears? The RS-10's would fit the best as surrounds but I wasn't sure if you wanted more power for rears or for surrounds. I have contemplated getting RS-35's for the surrounds but I wasn't sure what you guys thought.I got a great deal on the RS-42's so I would like to keep them. I have never had a HT system even remotely as sweet as this one so I do not have a golden ear and do not need to buy the speakers that go with a golden ear. I just want a system that matches all around and is not obnoxiously lacking in any one area.
  14. Rix has been really helpful in this whole ordeal. He got everything lined up for the repair at Abt Electronics. He offered right off the bat to return my money but I would hate to see a good Sub fall by the wayside for such a cheap repair. Hopefully Abt doesn't add a bunch to the bill because honestly it is 15 min of time to pull the amp out and put a new one in.
